Perfect for our New England tour
Worked perfectly as described and assisted our drive from Boston to New York and then a 2,000 round tour of New England (Sept/Oct 2017).Instructions about how to reset the satnav on arrival in USA were spot on and it was quick to get a satellite fix on leaving the car rental garage at Boston Logan airport. It safely assisted us south through Boston in the Friday afternoon rush hour (to be avoided if poss.).Although the built-in battery could not hold charge (as pointed out by the seller) this Garmin remembered our route whenever we stopped for breaks, so there was no need to re-enter destination. The supplied universal windscreen holder and 12V charger lead also worked perfectly although I would advise these are tested before leaving the UK just in case.I would advise anyone doing a road tour to purchase a Rand McNally USA road atlas to use in tandem with the sat nav - this in my opinion is the most accurate and easy to use. Anything based on AAA maps (and that includes the AA USA road Atlas) is pretty useless. We used the sat nav to navigate through cities and large towns and to find supermarkets and motels but navigating across country is best to use a road atlas. The rand McNally atlas identifies scenic routes and state parks.

Great but plan ahead
This was ordered as 'back up' to a trip to New England. The sat nav arrived in good time and was as described with helpful if brief notes on use. I downloaded the Garmin quick start guide but a direct link to the particular model would have helped as there are so many and the Garmin site is confusing. The mount that came with the unit was a good one, though universal. I ordered an air vent mount as well for this particular model from another provider. The unit only picks up a satellite link once installed in a car so you can't really get to know how to use it or route plan until then which isn't great for a hire car when you are in the middle of a city of airport somewhere. Otherwise it seemed to work as well as any.

Good value for money.
This presumably 2nd hand device enabled us to travel around many areas & cities of Canada with relative ease. Without it, we would have been lost, frustrated & wasted much time. We had some (small inevitable?) problems e.g. device attempted to send us around the same loop several times/device difficult to read in bright sunshine/new roads had been built but these were not the fault of the supplier. We didn't use voice recognition feature. Undoubtedly the device was Good value for money! (Some users might also have found a simple instruction leaflet useful)

More than you paid for!
You really do get your money's worth with this unit, I took mine to LA, Palm Springs,Yosemite, Monterey,Carmel, San Francisco without it missing a beat. Ok so it takes a couple of minutes to load up due to the duff internal battery but I knew that when I bought it so no complaints. You can rent one from the shark car rental companies or for less than half the price own your own for good. I just need to figure out how to update it now.

worked well but did not have avoid toll option
worked well in most places, except in Manhattan it struggled a bit, as due to the tall buildings the satellite signal was sometimes patchy. Also, it did not have an option to avoid tolls.

Garmin for the States
The first one that I ordered didn't retain its charge so I contacted the sellers who very efficiently sent me another by return. That one seems to be OK but the proof of the pudding will be when I take it to the States later this year. I would have no hesitation in recommending the sellers

Does just as advertised
Does just as advertised, worked as soon as switched on. I have given it four stars, only because it's battery won't hold a charge, so you can't carry it in hand luggage, at airport security you may be asked to switch on any electronic devices, and obviously this one won't work without an external power source.

Useful Addition for Canada/USA Road Trip.
The satnav worked exactly as described. The battery would only hold a charge for a few minutes, but this was no problem connected to the car's power. It was easy to use, small amounts of the database were out of date - again no problem. We were pleased we bought it & it worked well. Much much cheaper than hiring one from the car hire company. Definitely recommended.
