Fashion Sewing Ruler, Vary Form Curve Ruler, French Curves Measuring Cloth Design, Drawing Pattern, Aluminum (5 Psc Kit)

I expected to use this curve ruler mostly to make or adjust my clothes, and it's great for that. My clothes are simple by choice and I've started making shirts especially because I don't like all the frills/doodads/flashy stuff on the commercially sold stuff -- give me one simple design in several colors and I'll happily wear it for years.I've never been able to get the armholes right before, and now I can. I compared the curves to a shirt that fits me perfectly and yep, the ruler has that exact same curve! Having used the ruler a bit, I'm going to use the "waist/hip curve" side the opposite way most people probably will. I'm a chunky gal and I like my shirts to curve out with extra space for my belly and hips and backside, but even I don't want to wear A-line shirts all the time. Problem solved! It is also making my necklines a lot less frustrating, I can get the depth of curved neckline I want and make it symmetrical, which I haven't been able to do with homemade templates.The curved ruler is made of aluminum, and it's both strong and light weight. It would bend if I sat on it, but fortunately it has a hole drilled for hanging it so I can keep it safely on a hook. I've also started using it for my paintings and drawings, it's a big improvement on my freehand. (I'm still a beginner.) The inch markings are printed clearly on both sides of the ruler, and it cleans off easily.I'm very happy with this ruler, both with what it does and how it's designed and made. I recommend it for anyone who doesn't always want to draw/sew all right angles and straight lines.

My previous ruler, similar to this that I dropped and shattered, was acrylic so I decided to try this aluminum one. This sturdy aluminum french curve ruler has clear, accurate measurements on both sides from 0" to 12". It is helpful for drawing and smoothing short curves such as necklines and armholes when making clothing. The edges are flat, with no bevel and feel a bit sharp which I don't like. I like to see what all is underneath so, the fact that this ruler is not clear tends to bother me but, it should last.

I can not say enough good things about this sewing ruler!! Throughout the years, I have always opted for plastic rulers due to their availability and the price, but they always break. I had been on the lookout for an aluminum ruler for quite some time, and when I saw this one, I ordered it immediately. Let me tell you, switching to an aluminum ruler has been a complete game-changer for me. The difference it has made is astounding! This particular ruler is nothing short of perfect. Its measurements are accurate, and using it is so much easier because you don't have to be so careful. Seriously, say goodbye to plastic rulers that break and make the switch to aluminum. You won't regret it! This ruler is so well-made, and I'm sure it will last for a very long time. Considering the price, it is an absolute steal!

This is a large two sided French curve, ideal for adjusting patterns and making armholes, as well as a few other uses. The aluminum is very sturdy and the measurements don't seem like they will rub off so I expect this to last a long time. The metal is smooth so it shouldn't snag on any fabric, but the edge is not rounded so it's a bit harsh to hold. The benefit of aluminum is the longevity without making it too rigid, but you do lose out on the see-through benefits of plastic so it's a tradeoff. Overall glad to have added this to my sewing kit.

Perfect for adjusting clothing/costume patterns and altering clothing! Love that it's sturdy metal - plastic tends to disintegrate out here in the desert.

I recently took up sewing and have been leveling up my game with tools such as this. During a sewing class I came across these French curve rulers that make it much easier to adjust a sewing pattern for pants or a skirt so that the hip curve will be consistent. There are lots of other uses for this kind of ruler for necklines and armholes as well. Overall it's a useful tool to have in your sewing arsenal. I like that this ruler is made of metal rather than plastic as I think it will be more durable.
