I carefully read the instructions regarding the total length of the tool and the suitable size for the smoke detector. After comparing them with my specific needs, I decided to purchase the tool. I was pleased to find that it fit my smoke detector perfectly and was easy to replace.

the connectable sections are supposed to have male female ends but they don't all fit together because the ends are the same size on one of the extensions and the top part that grabs is too small to wrap around the outside of the smoke detector - at $70 this 3-4X more expensive than the quality should dictate.

I have try several types of smoke detectors, and not every smoke detector will work. This smoke detector uses the claw to rotate the detector so that the detector that needs to be replaced is removed and installed. If the detector is too large beyond the paw range, the detector cannot be removed. But I think it works pretty well, because I don't have to use a ladder anymore, and it's not so dangerous to switch detectors.

This tool is useless. It is too small to fit on a standard sized smoke detector. Keep your money.
