Very happy with this new purchase
I live in a very hot and humid southern state. My central AC unit died, and the replacement estimates run from $6500 to $8500 depending on the size. As I like heat, I decided to try a standalone unit and maybe add more later. The Della 14000 BTU arrived yesterday, which was about 2.5 days after placing the order. It was very well packaged and the box showed no signs of wear and tear. The setup was very easy -- the thing that took longest was prying open my window! I had to cut the sliding window attachment to fit, but that was easy. The exhaust hose attachment that fits into this fell off easily, but it was easy to fix by pressing the plastic attachment so that the clip points were tighter. Remote works fine, but have to remove a small screw to install battery. I switched the unit on and was pleasantly surprised at its quietness. Cool air was immediate. The unit is in a dining-room area that is wide open to an adjacent kitchen and living room. The LR has a doorway to the main bedroom. As the house had not had any cool air for days, it was extremely hot (90F) and humid. I inserted the drain hose into a gallon jug, set the unit to 77F and medium fan and left the house. I came back two-and-a-half hours later. The house did not feel very cool--the temp reading on the unit was 81F, and the jug had overflowed about a pint of water. I turned the unit on high and had to empty the jug about once every hour or so. I switched the unit to "sleep" and went to bed. I could barely hear the unit when the cooling was on. I figured the unit might work better on the second day, as the house would be cooler and drier to start with. That is what I found. With a low temp setting and on high fan, water still collects about a gallon every 1.5 hours, but even with the large square footage (as described) of the area, my feet got cold. Here are my main points: 1. Unit is very quiet. 2. Set up was very easy. 3. Even in this very large square foot area (about 1200 sq ft!) it gets cool enough for me--be aware that I like heat. I may buy additional unit for remote guest bedroom area. I would not hesitate to get this unit again, based on 24 hours of usage. 4. Definitely gets humidity out of the area. The drain hose attaches at the back, about half-way up the unit, which makes draining into jugs very easy. The jug is out of site, behind the unit. But, I will probably install a simple through-wall automatic drain to avoid emptying jugs. 5. As noted by others, the exhaust hose does get hot, but much less so when the room is not hot to begin with. 6. The attachment to the widnow opening needs weather stripping as there is a notable gap. 7. My box did not have the cap that you would need if you do a through-the-exterior-wall exhaust. 8. If you live in a humid area, you will want to have a simple drain system. 9. The unit does have heating capability, but I have not tested that yet. 10. I have no idea how this will affect my power bill...I hope that will not be bad news. I am updating this review... I decided to buy a second unit. IN coming back to AMazon, I noticed there had been a price drop of $50 since my first purchase, which was 3 days before. I contacted the company through Amazon, requesting that they reimburse $50, as the price drop was so close to the original purchase. I received email responses later that same day (!) stating that my request was approved and a reimbursement was being processed. I think that's very professional! I am just as happy with the second unit as the first. I am exploring the various machine settings. For example, on the "Dry" setting, there is also cooling, so I am not sure how this differs from the "Cool" setting. Regardless, I am extremely happy with the purchases. Still do not know the effect on my power bill.

Works exactly as expected.
After reading several reviews, I decided on this air conditioner. Mid price range and highest btu available for a portable, I think. The reviews were good for this model. It seems well built, and has all the bells and whistles of most models. I can't comment on reliability yet, as I have only used it for about a month. It cools well, but make no mistake, it will not cool your entire house. That is why it is a portable unit, it can be moved from room to room. We use ours in the living room, which is semi enclosed. I put a fan in the doorway, facing into the kitchen, to help pull the cool air in there. It works fine for these areas and will get the kitchen down to 74 degrees. I don't like my room so cool that I have to use a blanket, I never understand why people do that. I have had no problems with the drainage tank filling up, but I don't live in a high humidity area. I kept the exhaust hose as short as possible, and put the unit on a pedestal to keep the hose straight. I also wrapped it heat tape, to keep the heat from escaping back into the room. I am pleased with this unit thus far, just don't expect more than what it is capable of.

Good, functional portable AC unit
The unit functions well, best used in a single room with the door closed. However the unit was able to maintain room temps at settings of 69 and above, even when outside temps were well into the 80s and 90s. The unit is a little noisy, but we weren’t expecting much different from an AC unit. The window adapter is OK, it’s a better fit for sliding windows and still could use some adjustments for a better seal. However, we have casement/crank out windows and I was able to make it work with a little gorilla tape. The app is great, love the ability to turn the unit on/off from my phone to save energy costs, and the dehumidifier functionality is great, probably better for people that live in a wet climate.

Easy Peasy AC! And super quiet.
I ordered a portable AC because I could not remove the screen on the window for a window unit. Plus I wanted an AC that I could install by myself a 50-something YO woman. It was shipped within a week and packaged well. Instructions were clear with the exception of the drainage tube which the manual says you need to use only if you have it on dry mode which is not true. I put it on cold and it put out a ton of water (a small garbage Pail's worth) in about 6 hours. I literally plugged it in and installed the vent within 5-10 minutes. It cooled down the entire upstairs of my house (which is approx 800 square feet) in about an hour. The air exit vent sweeps or stays in the same position so you have cold air circulate or be directed up towards the ceiling. The best thing is that this incredible unit is quieter than the fan I had in the room! It has easy remote control and an auto setting but I would not leave this unit on if I left for the day because of the constant drainage of the water tube and it doesn't have an auto stop function if the water container gets full... So that's a bummer. So I only use it when I am home.. I live in Portland OR so it's perfect for our summers, not sure how it would work in AZ. Haven't had it long enough to try the heat function yet but happy so far for the easy quiet AC!

Looks great and cools very quickly and well.
This portable aircon is just great. The exhaust hose is a little large but if you place the unit in a corner you can hide it it better. The hose fits easily through the window opening and takes up very little space. Most importantly, it preserves light. The unit cools my whole basement rec room and bedroom extremley well and very quickly. I haven't measured the space but it is for sure approaching the 700 sq ft on the specs. When the compressor comes on it is a little loud but no more than the average fridge. The "dry" or dehumidifier function works very we. Note. When using the unit on "cool" for the first time be ready to empty out whatever drip tray you use very often. This lessens as the humidity is lessened in the space. The unit pushes the cool air out from a top vent which is just great. No one has to get blasts of cold air in ones face or back. Reslly a lifesaver.

This thing wouldn't cool a coat closet
My house is 384 square feet, two stories, for a total of 768 square feet. I already had a black and decker version (same claimed BTU) in the upstairs, but it's only able to cool the upstairs. I was hoping this one would be more efficient downstairs. First, it damned near took an act of God to get it out of the packaging. Setup and installation was straightforward and pretty easy, just like the black and decker one. Plugged it in, turned it on, and got a "CF" error message, which is not in the book. I turned it off, waited 24 hours and turned it back on. No error message. It was 87°F outside and 80°F in my living room. I set it to 72, set it to cool, set the fan to auto, and went to bed. When I woke up this morning, it was 81° in my living room. Yes, the temperature had gone UP by one degree! It was supposed to be the hottest day in two years (99°) today, so I left on and just crossed my fingers. After exactly 19 hours from when I first turned it on, I had an "FT" error, checked the book, and found that "FT" means full tank, needs to be drained. Now, let me point out it has been 60-100% for most of the last three weeks, and there have been several days I've had my black and decker running on dehumidify, and it has yet to get full, but this piece of garbage was full after 19 hours??? And it was now 83° downstairs!! The drain hole on this thing is about half an inch up from the floor, so sliding anything under it to catch the water was not an option. I had the roll it to the door, and keep the door open while it was 97° out to drain the stupid thing, which looked to be about 3 ounces of water. Still took several minutes to drain because the included drain hose comes with a determined kink in it. I can't return it because I had to demolish the box to get it out, but if I could, I absolutely would. This thing is nothing but a $400 fan with a 3 oz water reservoir that apparently comes prefilled. I don't believe it could cool 6 sqft coat closet, let alone the 500-700sqft it claims. Save your money and save yourself a headache and do not buy this heap of crap.

Small, Quiet, but Questionable About Actual Cooling Area Range
Air conditioner looks great, nice and small, and not much noise coming from the unit. It is a 14k btu unit, so I am a bit disappointed with the cooling factor. We have a living and dining area, which are a bit over 450 sq feet total. This unit cools off the area, but nowhere near what our window unit did at 12k btus. We set the temp to 65 and the unit never dropped below 80 after over 4 hours. Please keep in mind though, it was comfortable with our ceiling fan running as well. Plus we have a kitchen as well next to the dining room, and no door to seal it off. And I wasn’t expecting a blizzard like drop in temp either. All in all, we may supplemKent later with a small window unit and hope that gets us around the 65 mark. As far as installation, it took a bit longer than expected, as our window did not accommodate the plastic window kit, so I sized it down a bit to fit, and also placed some wood under it, to raise it above our window lip, for better exhaustion. At the end of the day we are satisfied with the purchase and will see how things go.

Works well in a 750 high ceiling room
Product does well to maintain temp. It is not good for turning on in a hot room to bring down the temp. I start in the morning and maintains a 750 sq ft high ceiling room. Also has a staircase to lower level, so hallways are also additional part of the load. Weather has been mostly above 90 and kept room at 76. By end of day room got to 78. Would have been much hotter without it. Love the phone remote. Can adjust from anywhere. Worth the money for the comfort provided.
