As we move into our twilight years we’ve been downsizing our holiday celebrations, content to enjoy the efforts and displays of others. The one tradition we like to observe, though, is a nativity set - something classic, minimalistic, and focused on our Savior’s birth.When I saw this available to review I had to order it immediately! Nestled in front of a simple evergreen garland, lit only by the built-in fairy lights, we are beckoned to “come and worship, Christ our Lord and King.”We prefer gadgets that are rechargeable vs. having to throw away single-use batteries but the power source for this lovely nativity was unclear from the listing (they look like button batteries but I don’t know if they’re replaceable).The piece is solid and seems well-made, with no loose pieces - huge advantage over traditional sets where Baby Jesus can go missing! The lights are well placed to highlight the scene without blinding you and it looks nice during the day and even prettier in the dark! I believe it will hold up for many years - although I’m a bit concerned about the power source; I love that it’s self-contained (no electric cord to deal with) but what happens when the batteries die?We really love the rustic aesthetic but I just don’t understand why there are two women (neither has wings to indicate an angelic presence). The bare basic of any nativity set is the core family (Mary, Joseph, and Jesus), often with additional figures including the 3 wise men/kings, angels, and various animals.So, as much as I love this overall, these two things are enough to make me take off 1 star:- Seriously, who is the 2nd woman? I would let it go but this is an integral part of our faith and the details do matter.- Really REALLY wish this was USB rechargeableThank you for reading my review, I hope it was helpful!

Beautiful Nativity! It's beautifully made, has great weight to.it, it's a great size, love.

This lovely nativity set is made of a lightweight off-white and painted resin. The lights are wrapped around the roof of the stable, with the on/off switch on the back. The lights are powered by two button cell batteries, which were included. Each character's features were hinted at - some more than others -- but not painted other than hair.Recommended: I removed one star from my rating because the shepherd (standing and holding the lamb) appeared to be a woman but did not have her hair covered.

This is a nice nativity that looks great on its own during the day and even better at night when lit up with the include "fairy" style string of lights that it comes with. We have quite a collection of nativities that sit on our large shelf running the length of our room and this one looks great and fits in perfectly with them all. I love the simple and yet elegant design of this nativity and it comes well packaged in a box with formed foam to protect it when in storage. Overall a great little addition to our collection!
