Naked Soul of Iceberg Slim

I bought this book after watching a documentary on Iceberg Slim. I long ago read the book PIMP which was equally good. But in the documentary listening to celebrities glorify this man, this predator, I was happy to see Robert Beck (Iceberg Slim) also in the documentary giving his account of how he felt about being applauded for being a pimp. He talked about this book which he was most proud of and the author Robert H. DeCoy also praised this book. I wanted to read about the man after his life as a predatory pimp. It was excellent to read how he viewed himself, his mother, what he learned but also what he took from the world and his people and women for being this kind of person. I wish more celebrity black men would celebrate Robert Beck for who he became and not the PIMP he was. Speaks volumes about them. I say this a a American Black woman.

I have enjoyed all Iceberg Slim books. He was a pimp, but lots of street knowledge that can actually with life lessons.

not up to the quality of his first couple of books...lacked the pop, looks like this one was written to take advantage of the popularity of the first ones...

Got this book for my son and he really liked it.
