Apple health compatible
I’ve decided to take control of my lifestyle now and invest in a better blood glucose monitor. (Can’t say invest really as it really is as cheap as a big standard reader) This is a Bluetooth enabled device that’s a breeze to use. Just see it up using the app on the AppStore and it’ll then sync all data to the app when you switch off the device. The results are then imported automatically to the health app on your iPhone. Excellent item. Honestly can’t praise this enough. The price is perfect and what it can do really helps you keep track of your health.

Brilliant Reliable Device
Excellent quality and fantastic price. It is a well made device and works exceptionally on the iPhone, has simple and effective integration into Apples Health app, which for me was important. Compared to other “smart” devices it’s fantastic value.

Works as expected but only tests blood glucose.
The instructions are now fairly extensive - possibly prompted by previous customer complaints. These instructions now include setting up Bluetooth that works fine in IOS & the GlucoRx Voyager app. You can set time alarms & low & high reading limits. This kit comes with only 10 test strips & lances, one you need to use for the supplied test solution that should make this device more accurate than some. Make sure you obtain a large enough blood sample - I wasted 2 strips by not getting enough. My only real criticism is not being able to take a reading without it being logged as might be useful for a guest. The On/Off button lights up red for readings above the set upper limit & the top strip surround lights up when a test strip is inserted. You can choose between a test reading, general & before or after eating. One BT is set up, a small blue LED lights up after the last reading & the device is off - it flashes until the Voyager app is set to pull off a reading. This is compatible with Apple Health. This device seems solid & better made than many - recommended.

Monitor as advertised
This monitor connects to mobile phone, earlier models do not.

Very good product
Easy to set up, once the app is installed on your phone, the results are automatically transferred from the nexus to the phone. I have been using other brands that are cheaper, but they was giving inaccurate readings and causing me problems. Since I’ve had this nexus unit, all the results are confirmed by doing two tests within 30 seconds of each other and are identical results and from different finger samples. Always worth paying that little extra.

Gluco Rx Nexus Blue
I am a type-2 diabetic who like many others are taking measurements despite my surgery not offering the option on nhs and for some reason do not believe I should be testing despite n riding to in order to keep bloody sugars good via diet. That said the low carbohydrate program says to always discuss your needs wih diabetic nurse and doctors - and ‘suggests’ that you measure.. how else are you to know how foods affect you - everyone is different. That said the company make many meters and the blue is a Bluetooth enabled meter that when you use with an iphone works great.. There are two apps that are targeted at GlucoRx meters one is voyager which is newer and can synchronise via Bluetooth - you need to power the meter ‘down’ from the history screen and the blue light starts flashing - and you then select sync on app and the actual meter (as it can handle many) and it bout readings - the meter languages get goes constant blur the data is taken in and then meter powers down. This app also works with GlucoRx CGM Aidex. The second app is the GlucoRx blue which is by same company this one when open and you have it meter not Bluetooth mode automatically syncs the data and the meter operates same as with the voyager - switching off when the c change has completed. As far accuracy - I think it’s hard to say with any meter and I have tried comparing results with other meters at same time - and none of them will give exactly same reading. Even the calibration test liquid and the value it says the new strips should match is actually quite wide. I think it is like weighing scales stick with one and see the trends as opposed to expecting exact readings. I believe that many NHS practices use this model. The other one that is still sold and used is the GlucoRx nexus - the strips are the same but you have to approach GlucoRx for a usb lead time f you want to sync but believe their sync app works mainly on windows (I cannot comment as I am a mac user).. I don’t think It’s because it is an old model but maybe Bluetooth is not necessary to some - for me it’s great. I think if you use CGM that again readings with meters are not expected to be same as the measurements are via body fluids under surface and will differ to finger pricks.. Even with meters there are different types f measurement techniques HCT etc.. I’d say just buy the one you can afford and the strips do have different price ranges and be consistent… It probably is not an exact science…

Poor instructions and poor product design (ergonomics)
GlucoRX - perhaps not try to compete on (low) price and features by cutting costs on usability and functionality. Maybe target the market where good functionality and good quality might command a higher retail price say £10 or 20 more? Bluetooth - pairs but very flaky and requires multiple attempts (no issues with phone bluetooth). The pairing procedure is poor and frankly badly thought out. Instructions - 3x booklets (1x quick start - non Bluetooth useless, 1x Bluetooth useless & 1x manual - very poor as simple instructions take 3x page turns, aren't clear with bad layout and fail to advise what to do if step fails (eg after repeated attempts following Instructions and then reset or try X). Ergonomics - small button on rear behind battery flap to set date / time. Because clearly the app or main user menu wouldn't work and repeatedly turning it over to press and check is a better user experience! Single button to change non date/time functions looks simple but when paired with poor menu and little symbols makes for user frustration. Device menu / function- not got too far as test solution issues device gives no indication if the test strip reading has failed. but appears less than clear and relies on a single repeated button press or device recognition of strips. App - Gluco appear to have used more than one unknown app developer across range - not ideal. App requires gps location access which is totally unnessary for a medical device. App is less than easy to use at device pairing and doesn't permit setting of device functions. Calbiration with test solution - very fiddly and get ready to waste lots of test strips (1 of 6 gave a read and its was out of range) as they can't be reinserted even with no read seconds later. Test solution is red coloured and stained a tshirt so use with care. Procedure is to insert test strip to turn on, wipe 1st drop of test solution the put a drop on lid top of lid place on a surface then touch test strip in meter to lid - silly and hard to get test strip hole to touch the drop on the lid as you are turning it over with device in hand. The device didn't read strips 1st, 2nd, 4th or 5th time. On 3rd time it gave a read that's out of range. Instructions manual advises "compare with range printed on your test strip vial" - very poor English and the vial or bottle has everything printed except reference value. Then I realised it actually means check the reference value on the test strip container (labelled Nexus Test Strips) eg "Control solution Range Level 2 6.7- 9.0". Mine read 13.5 so its out of range, users are advised to call a UK telephone number ‐ no I'll try once more and then return it via Amazon as its most likely a poor quality device with bad QC (despite CE and ISO certs). This is exceptionally poor as it may cause users to ignore this calibration step (user error) and rely on inaccurate readings either false negative or false positive which could result in harmful health outcomes. This might be acceptable if harm from user error was limited to their mobile being bricked or their toaster not browing optimally but this a medical device so manufacturers so design out user error and disable/ lock the device if steps haven't been followed or like the reference read is out of range perhaps link specific test solution to test strips so device detects abnormal reference range and or require calibration every x tests or x days so like my coffee machines's descaling timer its stops working until the process is completed) Its particularly unhelpful that it recognises that test strips have been inserted and blocks reuse if calibration process fails to read.

Meter great, App underdeveloped
Review for Bluetooth version. Meter easy tu use, syncs with the android app as soon as you eject the strip (you must grant permissions to the app to turn Bluetooth on initially). Because Bluetooth isn't on all the time and goes off automatically, it saves the batteries. Measurements correspond to how I feel. The set contains meter, control solution (it is small and expires after 90 days so they could put two in a set to last you half a year to start with), lancet pen, ten lancets and ten strips. Lancets have a date when sterilised but it's a small zip lock bag, no seal, so can't tell for sure of lancets inside were the ones sterilised acc to the label. Strips dated and in a sealed box. The lancet pen has also extra cap for alternative site testing. All easy to use. Thick manual is for non-Bluetooth but a separate leaflet for Bluetooth function added. It should indicate that Blue model doesn't have the USB cable connector, it's blinded. The storage pouch is useless for the model. I think it's inheritance from a different model, 50p quality pouch. Makes the meter turn itself on cos of touching to other accessories in a strange layout. Android version of the app is severely underdeveloped and should not be sold as functional yet. Missing some quite obvious functions, ie edit type of reading if you accidentally chose wrong one on the device (fasting, after meal and general), because then it shows the incorrect colour (Amber, green, red) thinking it's a different reading, which then cascades onto incorrect graphs and statistics so tho those wicked functions are there, they become obsolete due to entry error risks. You can't delete those either to replace with a manual entry. If Bluetooth function breaks down, the meter will become pen and paper option only because of the blinded USB port.
