Good glasses. Glare reduction was my requirement.
Overall these glasses worked as I expected. I am very happy. So, I did not feel that I should ding a star just because they 'felt' cheap to me. The proof is in the pudding, as they say, and these glasses fit the bill perfectly. Here are my thoughts. My initial feeling was that they were cheap. No case. They came in a small clear sandwich bag. The rest of the box was filled with airbags. I wasn't looking for a case, but for 20 bucks.......... I would expect some kind of case.... or,, put them in a gift box or something. Even a cardboard box would have helped.... in addition to the Amazon shipping box. To be clear - the description did NOT mention a case, and I really wasn't expecting one. It's just that when I saw them in the clear sandwich bag... it kinda turned me off. The picture of the product on Amazon has the "Flying Fisherman" logo silk screened on the glasses. The product I received has the logo on a striip that is glued on the side. It kind of makes you think that the glasses are not 'personal'. Again, the feeling of cheap comes up again in my mind. Now, I received these exceptionally fast........... maybe the lack of a case? lol It's a cloudy day so cannot check out right now.... so I thought.... see comments later in the review. Funny, was checking out the glasses in the bathroom… the blue walls actually looked blue with the glasses on… usually there is too much glare and the walls never look right. There is no distortion in the lens. Nice. I have a large head. They feel fine on the face. I saw some reviews mentioning that the nose guard gets in the way of the view.... not for me. Dimensions: 5 ½ inch wide – to the side of the frame - 1 ¾ in high 5 inch wide to the outside edge of the lenses – looking from the front Depth 5 to 5 1/2 inches from the nose to the center of the ear rest. The frames go back about 6+ inches, but that last ½ inch or so is needed to hold behind your ear. At least that is the way I am thinking about it. Normally you want the glasses to land on your ear, and then curl down a bit so they don’t fall off. Front to back 6 ¾ to the end of the frame from the front of the lenses They stay on your head….. tension is fine. And, the little dip after the ear rest also works nicely. Cloudy day – looked outside at my car… There is glare on the top of the car from my upstairs window. The glare was completely eliminated. The glare on the side of the car did not change noticeably . They look ok…. I felt the lenses were were a little too large. That is a personal preference only. As I looked in the mirror, I kinda felt that I had on those glasses that they give you after cataract surgery. But, my purchase was for the polarizing feature...........not on looks. Use the measurements that I gave you earlier to compare to your face/fit. Real world daytime test: I got these to stop the glare on my windshield from the large dashboard. Yes, they work great. I no longer see the dashboard reflection. Polarize function works fine. I am a happy camper!!!!! I even use these on cloudy days now. I got the smoke color lens…. They are not real dark, but, they are not light either. You would not want to use these at night or dusk. For me they were just right.

I am extremely delighted!
For a $20 pair of sunglasses, these sure get a lot of reviews. I received mine in the mail today and I am extremely delighted. They are by far the best sunglasses I have ever purchased at this price point. Mine came as shown in the picture. There was no case (I was not expecting one as I will be storing these in my car's sunglasses compartment). They fit comfortably. And the vents are a practical little touch that will come in handy in humid conditions. After reading many reviews I decided to get the Yellow-Amber. My fear was that this color would be too bright for sunlight conditions. But realizing that the polarizing nature of the lenses would only allow 50% of incident light through anyway (and block at least 50% of the glare, often much more due to the Brewster angle attenuation of the vertically polarized lenses), I am very pleased with my choice. To be fair they do seem significantly brighter than traditional sunglasses. It is the absence of the glare that makes them comfortable and ideal for driving (and fishing I suppose) under a wide range of lighting conditions. Contrasts are enhanced and makes discrimination of objects almost fun. These puppies are great! I notice the lenses could most likely be removed from the partial frame without much force (though they are well seated and firmly attached on my pair). I see this more as a feature than a flaw. Cleaning lenses near the frame has always been very difficult for me, perfectionist that I am. If the lenses detach easily and reattach as easily it would be a cinch to clean them and the frame. The plastic construction of the lenses and frame makes them corrosion resistant in rust belt areas and ideal for salt water fishing. I would not leave them lying around though, they have a stylish appeal and their attractive nature make them an object of desire.

Great glasses, couple design flaws
Overall I really like these glasses. They're lightweight, fit pretty well, and are really tough. I beat the absolute crap out of these glasses - they never see a case, but spend a lot of time in cargo pockets while I'm hiking or climbing. I had one pair where I broke *both* arms, but they're held together by the rubber ear pieces enough that I can still use them. That kind of abuse will scratch them, but they still basically work. I've bought 4 pairs of these, and I'm about to get another couple. So seriously, I do like them, even though I'm about to complain a bunch. :) As another review mentioned, the ends of the arms *will* scratch the inside of the lenses. It's not directly in your line of vision, but it's in my peripheral vision so it's a little annoying. It would be really nice if that could be prevented. The second problem is that the lenses are held on by the little plastic piece on the bridge of the nose. That plastic piece is just friction fitted into the frame. Mostly that's OK, but if you pop it off (eg, by shoving them in a too-small pocket, causing the arms to push on the lenses and pop them out) then the glasses are basically toast. The piece will get looser and looser, until even a light touch will make the whole thing literally fall to pieces. This can be fixed with a drop of superglue, but it's a PITA, and I wish the manufacturer would just glue the piece on there securely in the first place.

Great for the price.
I play baseball in a wood bat league on weekends, and started the season 2 for 22. I was not only behind on the pitches, but also swinging late, and broke two bats in the process that cost me money to replace. I blamed it on bad eyes given that I have to wear glasses. I finally got contacts after 5 games saw a bit of a difference. But I noticed that the morning glare (Our games are typically at 10am ) had me squinting still even with contacts on. What sucked more was that I wasnt picking up the breaking balls in time during my swing. One of my teammates loaned me a piar of his expensive NIke POlarized glasses between innings while I was playing Third Base, and I quickly noticed a huge difference. So I went up to bat with the glasses on and immediately noticed that the glare was gone, and was able to relax my eyes to the point that I could pick up the spin and rotation of the baseball. I ordered a pair of polarized replacement lenses for a pair of Oaklay Flak Jackets that I own that exact day I got home. 3 days before my game, I noticed Oakley had my item on backordered. I was pissed and got on Amazon to find a cheap replacement pair of polarized glasses to use for the game. Which lead me to these glasses. I can honestly say that these glasses are great. Sure, the frames are not the strongest, but for the price, they cant be beat. Over my past 2 games, Im 8, and can honestly say that it has to do with the contacts, but mainly because my eyes are relaxed because of these glasses. No more squinting or glare. So for the price, you cant go wrong with these.

One major defect - arms scratch lenses
If it weren't for *one* serious defect, these would be my all-time favorite sunglasses. I've bought no less than 5 of these sunglasses over the last several years, and keep a pair in all of my vehicles, etc. I love them, almost. The problem is that every single pair has developed scratches on the inside (none at all on the outside). I wondered for a long time how this could be - I even bought microfiber bags and swore to only store them in nice bags. Still they scratched. It took me forever to realize that the scratches perfectly line up with the arms of the sunglasses. When you fold the glasses up, the tips of the arms touch the insides of the lenses in the middle. Over time, the arms eventually leave a significant number of light scratches in the middle of the lenses (see photos - all five pairs I own look like this). Bottom line - if you ever keep your sunglasses in your pocket, even if you keep them in a soft pouch, expect them to eventually be ruined. Flying Fisherman - Please change the design to make the tips of the arms softer than the inside of the lenses. I'd pay 2x as much for this one simple change - and then these would last forever! Edit: I'm adding another star because these really are inexpensive. After a bit of testing, I've decided that standard heat-shrink tubing seems to be softer than the arms and doesn't scratch the lenses as easily. I'm going to buy another pair and heat-shrink the ends of the arms to see if I end up with less scratching. Still, I'm annoyed.

Great value and comfort.
I owned these for 2 or so years. I have a big head and these are the most comfortable glasses I have worn. They hold tight and never had any issues at high speeds of blowing off. They offer full coverage on sides so no worries about sun shining from side or back. I'm buying another pair because the ear piece fell off. I will admit that they were sitting in a hot car in the Texas sun for a few months. It maybe contributed. I agree the quality is just a little bit lower than would like. I would gladly pay more to up the quality. On the other hand $15 every 2 years. What is there to complain about Update:. Upgrading to 5. That previous issue with lenses falling out is no longer issue with this current design. Can't stress the full coverage and is better than most glasses I have ever owned. These are the bomb!

Don't make the same mistake I did - These fell apart in 2 months
Yes. I read EVERY review. It's not like I didn't know I was taking a gamble. There were plenty of reviews from people trying to warn me. But, my thought process was one in which I convinced myself that those people were probably just rough with their glasses and didn't take proper care of them. I am the most cautious person on the planet when it comes to handling my sunglasses. I knew there was no way they would break under the proper care. Well, I unfortunately was wrong. The rubber piece on the middle part of the bridge in the front fell off while I was wearing these just walking around the yard. I didn't know it until the lenses started falling out. Without that rubber piece, there's no way for the lenses to stay in place. They just fall out. I never could find the rubber piece. I looked everywhere for it. I don't care how careful you are with these sunglasses, they are going to fall apart and it will not take long. I barely got 2 months out of them and I didn't even get to wear them that much. I always put them in a very safe place. They were never dropped. Never mishandled. Handled with extreme care. Yes, the lenses were incredible. I loved them while they lasted, but I can't pay close to $20 for a pair of sunglasses that I have to replace every 2 months. I might as well invest in a more expensive pair of sunglasses that will last for years. I urge you not to ignore the negative reviews. They are spot on. You will not get much wear out of these. Not worth $5 in my opinion.

Nice shades.
I realize these are aimed at fly fishers, but I liked the price and styling and thought I would try them out. I bought these for driving to and from work. For the price and when and where I use them, these are fantastic. The polarization is a nice feature and removes a lot of glare. They also work well in low conditions. Edit - having owned these for 2.5 years now, I can honestly say this is one of the greatest products I have ever happened upon. Still on the original pair and I wear these all the time now: sporting events, car races, on the lake, at the beach and even skiing when I don't feel like wearing goggles. I think the sticking point for me is the lightness of the frame (ridiculously comfortable for 6-8 hours straight and the durability of the product. I have worn these now all over the United States and taken them to many other countries on trips and am absolutely tickled to death with how nice these are.
