Red Sea Prizm Hang-on Protein Skimmer

Sad that it hasn't been sold for years, and Red Sea doesn't sell replacement parts. Love the slim line,hang on filter. Had mine for years before the impeller broke. Sad to have to buy a new one, but I like it that much! I'm glad I found one as they quit making this model. Sad!

so i got this today...i did get one that was discounted because it was opened and returned, but the description clearly said that the skimmer was undamaged but that the box was not in perfect condition..so i figured what the heck, i'll get a discount on it, i don't need the box anyway...but when i opened it they had just kinda shoved everything back in the box and i'm guessing that because it wasn't supported inside the box that it broke at the connection to the overflow tank...i'm gonna maybe see if i can get it to work, but idk..i wish there was a way to message the sender so that i didn't have to leave a bad review because i know these skimmers are great...hopefully i'll be back to edit this when i get everything figured out.

First of all, I've had these very same kind of skimmers for years, and know how to put together, I was surprise to see that there were no instructions included on how to start it up. Good thing I have one running in another tank. This one that I got was defective, and the motor was dead. I was very disappointed, and want a refund. I will buy it some where else. Not happy...:-/

Works great! easy to set up and clean. Great product for the money. Stay away from Instant Ocean Seaclone 100 which does not work well and has problems with impellar motor failing. Buy this protien skimmer instead. You will be glad you did. The foot print is very impressive too. It takes up a lot less space on the back of the tank, due to its slim design

They are a bit touchy when setting them. Once you know where it runs best, you don't have to screw with it anymore. I've used them for over 20 years now. But if your a dummy and a complainer, then don't buy one. Best skimmer ever made for hundred gallon tanks or less. Perfect for a 55 gallon tank. Had mine two decades never broke, and has always ran. Don't believe the dummies.

I have used a lot of skimmers and really like this skimmer. It is perfect for a tight space where you don't want the pump in your tank and it is very narrow so it doesn't take up much space on the back or side of the tank. I have had no problems with keeping it adjusted or leaking. It is very efficient and starts producing skimmed junk almost immediately. It is designed for use up to 40 gallons so it really cleans up on a smaller tank. I have one on a 10 gal. nano tank now and it keeps the tank clean as a whistle. Of course I have to add essential elements about once a week. Perfect for up to 20 gals. Love it and highly recommend it. It is a little noisy no matter where the air flow is adjusted, but it is livable.

I recieved yesterday. I liked the look and ease of the skimmer. But it will not prime. Pump works air tube is in the left hole. Valve is open and water in reservoir but just won't prime. Sending back.

I have had one of these running on my reef tank for 3 years easy to set up a bit of a pain to get primed but once it started it has never stopped does a good job very happy for it I feel like I over paid for it but other than that completely happy I would recommend it for sure
