I’m honestly impressed with the XbotGo Sports action camera. If you’re looking for an easy way to record team sports without buying an expensive camera setup, this is a fantastic solution. What makes this product stand out is that it uses your phone’s camera, so you don’t need any complicated hardware. I simply mounted my phone, connected the app, and it was ready to go. The AI tracking works surprisingly well, automatically following the action during soccer and basketball games without needing someone to manually control the camera. I’m so glad that I could focus more on watching my son’s game now that I don’t have to take the video myself, I could just set this device and let it do its thing. Being an electronics enthusiast, I've come across phone gimbals and camera gimbals, but what I haven't come across is something like the XbotGo tracking camera gimbal. While DJI Osmo and other vlogging cameras with built in gimbals and object tracking are great for being your own cameraman, they are weak when it comes to recording and live streaming sports events. Before coming across this product, I watched a live stream of a basketball game streamed by my son's middle school done by another parent. It had a scorboard overlay and great quality. I always wondered how that was done. It was when I came across the XbotGo that it clicked for me. The parent must have used a similar device to this product. The XBotGo hardware is simple in concept. It has pan and tilt capabilities and a bluetooth remote for controlling the gimbal operation as well as starting and stopping the video. It has a camera built in that is used only for optical tracking. This condensed set of hardware makes the XbotGo more versatile as it leaves the camera and wireless hardware up to the phone that you provide. The streaming video quality is up to the phone that you provide. This is where the software comes in. The software is an all-important part of this system. It is used to connect to the Chameleon via bluetooth and provides the functionality that sets it apart from a standard phone gimbal. Upon starting the app, you choose the sport that you will be recording. This allows the Chameleon to customize its motion tracking to the sport. If you think about it, in Basketball or Soccer, the camera should be following the ball, not a specific person. This is the key feature that sets this product apart from standard gimbals. To really make the live stream work, you need to log in with an XBotGo account. From there, you will have the ability to live stream to Youtube or Facebook. To create a scoreboard overlay, you will need another phone. This phone will be the remote monitor for the Chameleon and you can customize the feed with a scoreboard. Even better is the ability for Chameleon to work with OBS. From a laptop, OBS can connect to a URL given by the product once you have the camera started. OBS treats this as a live source and you're then able to create even more overlays and stream to other social media platforms not covered by the XBotGo's app. Overall, this is a well thought out system that is just impressive with the results that you can get. Very cool.

BUYER BEWARE!!!!! When you set set everything up and try to record it won’t let you go further unless you don’t give full access to your photos. It gives you the option to give a limited access, but when I tried that it didn’t work. I took a random photo and gave it access to that one and it still kept asking for full access. And then when you look into the privacy policy, it strictly tells you the following in a nutshell that they can share all your photos with anyone and use them to train their AI models. You might as well just dump all your photos on the internet and ChatGpt. 😂😂. Uhhh I’ll pass and keep using my phone.

We record all our child's hockey games to share with family. We found that one of us was always watching the camera more than the game, and then we would spend a significant amount of time going through the footage to add in a scoreboard to make it easier for that family to follow. We wanted to find a new way to capture games, and keep score without while not having to fiddle with technology, and be more in the moment. We also didn't want to have to spend hours on the computer editing the footage after the game. That's when a fellow hockey parent mentioned they'd heard of this device. We decided to get it and give it a go. Since the games are for smaller kiddo, we weren't sure how the camera would do recording half ice games. I can say it did a wonderful job. I didn't have to do much in the way of configuring the camera before the game. I just followed the directions, and selected Hockey, and the age group. Put it at "center ice" and hit record. There's a need feature where my spouse could connect their phone to mine (the one doing the recording), and add in the scoreboard in real time. Anytime there was a goal they just clicked a "+" for that team, and it added it to the video. It even let you customize the team names and colors of the scoreboard. It was so easy to use, and the fact that we could just upload the video as soon as it was over made this a no brainer. One thing we did notice when watching it back was that the panning motion could be a bit jerky at times, and a few times it struggled to keep up with the game, but I would say it captured the important moments of the game, and fit our need perfectly. I would like to see them add in an additional metric for hockey though. It would be nice if the scoreboard could track "Shots on Goal", and I'd like to see further improvement to the motion of the panning, but considering it does 99% of what we want I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for this sort of thing depending on the price range they're looking to budget for. I've included a test video we shot to show the quality, but have removed the sound. TLDR; This tool as been great. It allowed us to both enjoy the game with out a need to fiddle with a camera the entire time, capture the score in an easy to use and nice looking scoreboard feature by connecting to phones together, spend less time on the computer after the game preparing the video for family, and get it online faster. The family that typically view it have already said it was a great viewing experience, and they're looking forward to following the rest of the season.

It’s a good product if you’re willing to compromise. It is advertised as doing the Jersey follow, but that only works for basketball which is not clear before you purchase it. Second thing is that I purchased it in order to be able to live stream to YouTube, but it did not work. It was very disappointing and embarrassing when I told our entire team that I would be streaming to YouTube, but was unable to do so because the interface did not work. Internet was stable, etc., I’m actually a tech person so I know that it was set up properly with the streaming key, etc. but failed to deliver. Since that was my key consideration, I sent it back. I do think it’s a great product and looking forward to it continuing to be developed in the next generation and will try it again. If the company is reading these reviews, please also take note that when the customer receives the product, they should not have endless firmware update updates to do out of the box. Every capable tech company has their firmware updates batched up into a single update. I did at least 12 updates upon unboxing. Updates were also very glitchy to do, freezing at times and having to be redone. Also had this thing tell me I needed an update while I was at the hockey rink, even though I had just checked for updates before I left the house.

This is a good idea, but doesn't work. I got it for my sons' soccer games. The zoom is limited to 3x, which is inadequate for follow mode. Follow mode is so poor that it just jumps players or even background objects during play. This includes objects and players with completely different jerseys (opposing team). I don't know what kind of 'AI' it claims to have, but it must be the eating paste and crayons variety... For game mode, it is easily distracted by people walking, referees, and especially ball boys that are bouncing balls near the field. You end up manually correcting the aim for half the game. It also has no camera, it just holds your phone and uses the phone for everything. It beats holding your phone and watching the game through that the whole game, but falls woefully short of its promises. Also, if there's a firmware update available, you can't postpone it, so you get a 10 minute delay before you can use it, so you had better be there early to set up.

Nice action camera, works fine with my iPhone, easy to handle, just download the app, connect the device and remote and ready to go. Video is clear. Machine feels heavy duty, not cheap material, good for video recording. Satisfied with the item.

Ich bin Jugend-Basketballcoach und möchte Trainingsspiele aber auch Saisonspiele so einfach wie möglich und so gut wie möglich aufnehmen. Wichtig ist mir auch nicht auf Hilfe von anderen Personen angewiesen zu sein. Früher habe ich dafür mein Handy genommen und es einfach in die Ecke auf ein wackeliges Stativ gestellt (die 1. Option), zum Stativ am Ende noch weitere Infos. Das Problem dabei: Die Perspektive! Es ist ein sehr einseitiger Blickwinkel und viele Details gehen verloren. Die zweite Option war die Kamera in die Mitte zu stellen und alles auf einen extremen Weitwinkel zu stellen. Jetzt hat man zwar (fast) alles im Blick, aber total verzerrt und völlig unnatürlich. Die dritte Option war dann „hilfsbereite“ Eltern zu fragen und zu bitten das Handy während der Aufnahme doch einfach nur von links nach rechts und wieder zurück zu schwenken. Kann doch nicht so schwer sein…., oder? Von wegen, das war eine Katastrophe, aber was habe ich erwartet… selber Schuld. Nun ja, nach diesen ganzen nicht so ganz guten Erfahrungen habe ich nach Lösungen gesucht und mit dem XbotGo Chameleon eine ohne Übertreibung mega zufriedenstellende Lösung gefunden. Der (oder die?) XbotGo Chameleon kümmert sich eigentlich um alles (nur aufstellen muß man es noch alleine). In meinem Fall stelle ich vorher ein, daß ich in der App ein, daß ich Basketball aufzeichnen möchte und wenn alles eingestellt ist, geht es relativ fix schon los. D.h. sobald die Action auf dem Feld beginnt macht die Kamera das was man von ihr erwartet. Sie erkennt was gerade auf dem Court vor sich geht und hält die Momente korrekt fest (schwenkt hin- und her usw.), ohne Pause. Die Akkulaufzeit ist für ein Basketballspiel mit Verlängerung und Pausen überhaupt kein Problem. Hier sollte man eher danach schauen ob das mit dem XbotGo verbundene Smartphone genug Akku hat. Im Zweifel eine Powerbank an das Smartphone anschließen, dann geht man auf Nummer Sicher und muß sich keine Sorgen machen. Die Software ist relativ simpel und die Verbindung zu einem Smartphone geht total schnell (egal ob iOS oder Android). Feinjustierungen kann man während der Aufnahme mit der mitgelieferten Fernbedienung meister, das sollte man vorher aber doch ein bischen üben. Wenn man es aber einmal verstanden hat ist auch das kein Problem. Cool ist natürlich auch, daß man sogar (WLAN oder sehr gute Mobilfunkverbindung mit Flat-Vertrag vorausgesetzt) die Geschehnisse live streamen kann, man benötigt dafür keinen YouTube-Account, es läuft quasi out of the box! Die App führt einen das selbsterklärend hin, einfach mal testen. Wer nicht live streamen möchte, aber nachträglich seinem interessierten Freunden oder Spielern das Spiel zur Verfügung stellen möchte kann es im Online-Speicher (ist kostenlos dabei) auch wieder einfach und simpel (und ohne viel oder weitere zeitintensive Arbeiten) als Link zur Verfügung stellen und zack kann jeder sich die Aufzeichnung auch nachträglich noch anschauen. Wer es bevorzugt Aufnahmen im eigenen YouTube-Channel bereitzustellen, kann das natürlich auch tun. Es gibt in der App hierfür die Möglichkeit sich mit seinem Account zu verbinden und das Video hochzuladen. Nebenbei seht ihr in meinem Video einen Ausschnitt aus einer Trainingseinheit. Ich habe die Kamera quasi ohne viel Zeit zu verlieren ausgepackt, mit meinem Smartphone gekoppelt und direkt am gleichen Tag im Training getestet und wir ihr sehen wird, es funktioniert tadellos. Bitte das Video bzgl. Qualität nicht bewerten, ich habe es zum Upload hier bei Amazon bearbeitet und die Auflösung heruntergefahren (ist in echt deutlich besser). Weil ich so begeistert bin, habe ich mir beim Hersteller direkt (da leider nicht bei Amazon verfügbar), daß bis zu 4 Meter hoch ausfahrbare Stativ gegönnt. Das hat im Vergleich zu meinem bisherigen sehr günstigen Alu-Wackel-Stativen eine extrem gute und stabile Verarbeitung (demnach auch keine Wackler beim Aufnehme). Lasst euch von der maximalen Höhe nicht abschrecken. Es lässt sich zügig aufbauen, unkompliziert ausfahren. Dabei ist auch eine feine Transporttasche sowie zwei Beschwerungsbeutel (ohne Gewichte); empfehlenswert sofern komplett ausgefahren und bei Nutzung im Freien (wenn der Wind weht etc.). Standardhöhen von ca. 1,6 m sind hier problemlos einstellbar oder eben stufenlos bis zu eben 4 m. Für ein Basketballspiel in der Halle ist eine solche Höhe nicht unbedingt erforderlich, aber ein stabiler und sehr sicherer Stand waren mir wichtig und deshalb habe ich mich dafür entschieden und bin nach oben hinaus doch noch flexibel (man weiß ja nie). Für die Fussballer unter euch: Das 4 Meter Stativ ist ein fast ein MUSS um das deutlich größere Spielfeld aus einer angenehmen Perspektive aufzuzeichnen. Liebe Sportler: Es gibt nichts schöneres als tolle Momente aufzunehmen und sich später daran zu erfreuen und sich nicht an einem miesen Video-Setup zu ärgern. Denn besondere Momente können wir nicht einfach so wiederholen… Mit diesem System nehmt ihr die tollen Erinnerungen in einer fast schon professionellen Art und Weise auf. Übrigens staunen die Leute nicht schlecht, wenn sie eine Kamera sehen, die alles selber macht (ist zwar nicht wichtig für das Produkt, find ich aber immer wieder sehr amüsant). Zu guter Letzt: Der Kundensupport. Ich hatte eine Reihe an (im Nachgang blöden Fragen) aber der Support hat mir immer auf alles schnell, freundlich und kompetent helfen können. Auch das ist etwas, was heutzutage gar nicht mehr so selbstverständlich ist. Habe den Kauf nicht bereut und wenn andere den gleichen Anwendungsfall haben wie ich, dann greift zu. Auf lange Sicht ist es eine sehr sinnvolle Investition!
