Good pice of kit
Used this to deal with a difficult to access stripped bolt hole that needed drilling out by hand for a helicoil repair. Did exactly what I needed it to do.

Neiko Heavy-Duty 3/8" Conversion Chuck
The unit I received fits all my hex drive socket fittings with the detent engaging properly, without any grinding needed. Others note a problem with their detents engaging - maybe I just got lucky. I actually ordered this primarily for tight quarter use, and it works great for that. Coupled with a Milescraft right angle drive adapter, it permits drilling and countersinking with as little as 5-1/2" of available clearance. That includes a short drill bit or countersink mounted in the chuck! The only downside is that the depth of the Milescraft R/A driver hex socket is only 3/8", which leads to a bit more wobble than I like, but supporting the chuck loosely by hand when starting holes (using low speed and caution!) takes care of that, and this particular problem originates in the Milescraft driver, not this chuck. With the chuck shaft (7/8" long) fully seated in my DeWalt impact driver, there is very little wobble, to the point I can use this chuck for general purpose drill use, eliminating carrying a separate drill when doing projects away from the shop. I did not expect this level of concentric stability, so it was a nice bonus. As others noted, fit and finish on this chuck are much higher quality than one would expect from the price. Although spec'd for drill bits down to 1/16", it clearly will take smaller bits. In practice I am unlikely to use the chuck with anything less than a 1/16" bit, but for those interested I tried some micro drills from a Dremel accessories kit. I was able to securely chuck a #76 drill, which is only .020" diameter. That is is with a new chuck - it may change after the chuck gets some regular use, but is still impressive. I like the chuck key provided. The offset T bar is comfortable in my hand when tightening or loosening. Of course the downside to any keyed chuck is having to always have the key. Otherwise, a keyed chuck has the advantage for me, as I sometimes see bit slippage when using keyless chucks. The 1/2" square to 1/4" hex socket adapter is not much use to me. I should probably recycle it, but instead it will probably just clutter up a drawer until, well, forever. You never know when something will come in handy, right? :-) Overall I like this chuck very much. At the price, it is definitely a bargain.
