XL fits over XS surgery boot cover
I had foot surgery and am wearing one of the after surgery boots. I needed to do outside chores and there was still ice and snow. So I bought an extra small boot cover (my size) and x-large yak-trax. Worked perfectly! I was able to safely get around to feed my horses.

Don't leave home without them
This is the 4th purchase. Two for me two for her. They last @ 4 - 5 yrs depending on use and wear. They are the best on ice.

Poor Quality
I hike over the dunes to Lake Michigan every morning. 2.5 miles and 804 stairs it takes me average 40 minutes. In the past my Yaktrax would last a winter. This pair lasted 2 weeks yesterday the coils broke apparently being made with cheaper materials.

spikes for outdoor use only.
serious spikes for good grip. DO NOT use these indoors as the metal spikes will mess up your floors. Use outside only. There are other brands that you can wear inside (like horizontal springs) but these are spikes. works great on ice.

Great stability, great grip, terrible durability, subpar materials
I had a pair of yantrax that lasted me for 2-3 yrs while walking my dogs on icy sidewalks. After 2-3 yrs they started to fall apart so I bought new ones. Within 1-3 wears the metal spirals started coming off, the bands started fraying and snapping, becoming not only ineffective but also dangerous. I returned and exchanged thinking it was a one off manufacturing defect. I ended up buy three pairs in three weeks because they kept getting destroyed. My third pair lasted the longest for about 2 or 3 weeks. Then the bands snapped. I bought a fourth pair and haven’t used them yet.The only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 is because I tried other brands and the other brands don’t have the stability across the base of the foot that yaktrax does.I don’t know what happened to the materials in their process. My original pair purchased 2-3 yrs ago were amazing. And when they work, they are fantastic - super safe on ice, confident to walk without slipping. But they need to last more than 3 walks. These are never intended to wear inside and you will absolutely slip if walking on tile, need to be careful on wood, etc. they are meant to grip a smooth surface. (I’ve seen this complaint and first time wear is a little scary if you’re not aware you could slip super easily inside. Just get used to your footing on the way out the door on any ice cleat you purchase.

Great product but Mislabeled sizing and short product life
I've used Yaktrax before and they work great until they don't. They really are a must have for walking on icy sidewalks or shoveling icy driveways. That said, I've never gotten more than 2 seasons out of a pair before the rubber breaks or the coils break loose. So I like the product enough to buy them even though I know in advance they will only last a season or two so I was prepared to give it 4 stars. However, these listed as an XL and they sent a L. That just means I'll end up stretching the rubber a bit more and it won't last as long as it should, so let's call it 3 stars.
