Wi-Fi Water Leak Detector (SBS50 Base Station Required), 1 SWS0A Water Sensor

I installed the X-Sense Wi-Fi Water Leak Detectors mainly as a precaution around the basement, sump pump, and utility area, and they already proved their value. A few weeks after setting them up, our sump pump failed during heavy rain and the detector sent an alert to my phone almost immediately. I was able to get downstairs and deal with the problem before the pit overflowed and flooded the basement. That alone made these worth every dollar. Setup was straightforward, and the Wi-Fi connection has been stable so far. Notifications come through quickly, and the app makes it easy to see which sensor triggered. I also like that the alarm on the unit itself is loud enough to hear if you’re in the house, but the phone alert is what really makes the difference when you’re not home. Build quality seems good, and the sensors are small enough to place anywhere you might have a leak risk - sump pump, water heater, under sinks, behind the washing machine, etc. Battery installation was simple and the app walked through pairing without much trouble. If you own a home with a basement, sump pump, or anything that could leak, I highly recommend these. Mine already prevented what could have been a very expensive mess, and that makes this one of the easiest 5-star reviews I’ve written.

My wife and I own two condos in Maui. Our AOAO is now requiring leak detectors to help prevent water damage due to leaks while owners are away from their property. We researched several leak detectors that meet the association criteria (sensors located at every water source, wireless connection with 24/7 monitoring, battery state indicators and low battery level warning, multi-property support, Safety agency approved, etc...) and selected this X-Sense system with 10 sensors for each condo. The system was easy to set up and use. While we were concerned over the WiFi 2.4GHz bandwidth requirement, it turned out our multi-band routers hooked up to the base station without issue. It will also survive a power failure which is comforting to know. We were so happy with the system we bought a third system for use in our home in California. We have the X-Sense app on both of our phones now, each of which with a drop down-menu showing the state of all sensors at any one of the three properties. The system claims to support up to 5 households with up to 50 devices each (not just leak sensors but other function like smoke & CO2 detectors). We have had the systems for a few weeks now and outside one alarm (triggered by our cleaner who accidentally brushed up against a sensor in the kitchen with her mop) we have had no issues.

Very easy to install and activate. Provides addition reassurance that another system is being monitored 24/7.

Very well executed set; worked for me when there was water on the floor; easy to set up and lots of options; well designed reasonably priced; I recommend it and bought a second set.

These detectors are what you need to protect your home. We purchased enough to cover all areas of our home where water could leak. These are easy to set up and only take a couple of minutes to connect through the app they offer. The app walks you through what to do and how to do it. It could be easier to set up! One of our children washed their hands and a tiny drop of water landed on the sensor. It immediately went off and we were alerted via text and through the app! That’s amazing. Protect your home with these detectors. You will not be sorry. Especially if you travel, have rental properties, or just need peace of mind. You will not be sorry you made the investment.

I bought this after reading a review on Wirecutter which mentioned how common water leaks are and how monitors are very easy to install. After setting up the base with the app you can add the monitor pucks with two clicks. I like this kit because it has four monitors and they are not silent, they have a very loud alarm. I don't need to connect it to Alexa or a third party app. Within a month of installing these monitors I was outside in front of my house and the phone alarm blared. I rushed to the kitchen and water was leaking from under my sink. In maybe 30-40 seconds the cabinet under the sink was covered in water but hadn't seeped to the floor yet. If I hadn't caught it so quickly the damages would have been very significant. Water will ruin your house. Get these alarms!

I bought the base unit along with 4 water detectors. It worked so well that I bought six more detectors. Then I purchased one mailbox alert units, then two thermometer sensing units. very easy to setup and monitor on their very supportive app. Highly recommend this the other items that I mentioned above.

I suppose it works and is useful if you're home all the time to receive your alerts while your phone is connected to Wi-Fi. I got home and as soon as my phone connected to Wi-Fi I got the alert from my water sensor. Would have been nice to know many hours beforehand. I have the SBS 50 base station, heat sensors, smoke alarms, and water sensors. So this is an update to my original posting which is obviously not very detailed but the initial problem occurred in that I bought this to alert me when my sump pump tripped the GFI and Water started accumulating in the basement. I got home the other day, pulled in my driveway, phone connected to my home Wi-Fi and immediately ONLY THEN got the alert, several hours after it would have been useful to know. So I contacted tech support and they got back with me the next day and asked me to try something relating to testing the devices and when I pressed the button on my combination smoke alarm carbon monoxide alarm it immediately went to a fast blue blinking light which meant it was trying to pair. I never could get it to pair I deleted it from the app I never could get it to connect to the app again. So I was still trying to figure this out it would only alert when I was connected to my Wi-Fi I tested it on a different Wi-Fi no luck I was getting email alerts but I wanted alerts through the app. I updated the app and was able to get alerts on mobile data only and put it away for the night next day I thought I'd try it all again guess what same issue alerts only when connected to Wi-Fi this is unreliable of course and if you're relying on it for carbon monoxide or fire then I consider it dangerous if it is not alerting your phone when you are on mobile only I have deleted the app and removed all the devices I just wish I hadn't gone all in on smoke alarms heat alarm carbon monoxide alarm and water alarms plus the base. Will be finding a different product.

Pleasantly surprised at how easy the setup and installation proceeded, compared to another brand of leak detector bought and returned to Amazon because that one was virtually impossible to setup due to convoluted instructions. The X-Sense system comes in attractive protective packaging, with clear and logical instructions for installation and pairing of base unit to network and pairing and identifying of individual sensors. I chose the base unit with 4 sensors plus the optional X-Sense Wi-Fi Water Leak Detector (SBS50), 3 SWS0A Water Sensors to give me seven sensors to cover all vulnerable locations. Testing confirmed coverage throughout my home. All this and less expensive than many other similar systems
