At Home with Beatrix Potter: The Creator of Peter Rabbit Review: Perfect Book - I am happy I bought this book. The pictures are large enough to see details of her rooms and furniture-almost as if you are really there. I was kind of amused when I could see up close the scuff marks on her bedposts-just like mine! I have always seen outside pictures of her home but was really amazed at the inside! It has so much more in there than I ever thought and it is more formal than the outside makes you think the inside will be like. There are just the right amount of words without being overwhelming like an author trying to fill pages. I cannot find one negative of this book and will treasure it and look at it many times in the future. Thank you to the author! And Beatrix too. Review: As beautiful as it looks - This book was a real pleasure to read very slowly. It is a room by room description of Beatrix Potter's Hill Top farm house and includes the gardens. Beatrix started journaling about what she loved in a home from the time she was nine years old and this house is the cummulation of a life long interest in interior and exterior design theory. She fit in with the whole Arts and Crafts movement of the time. The house was deliberatly her largest artistic creation, she didn't actually live there very much. Again, it is a beautiful book and has many fasinating details about Beatrix Potter, her family and her times.

Very interesting and the pictures were awesome!! This woman was amazing and after making a large sum of money, she still chose to live humbly her self, but donated much money for the beloved land she loved so much. Ancient farms were kept away from progressive modern builders so that the land and all the old manor homes as well as stone farmhouses were left pristine! I love Beatrice Potter and everything she did, and stood for! This has become a cherished book in my collection along with Tasha Tudor. another favorite woman of mine!!!

Beautiful
Even if you aren't a fan of Potter, this book is beautiful. Fantastic photos of the lake district and the historic farmhouses in the area. Potter was a fascinating person, but this book is more about the landscape than a biography.

I always enjoyed the small books authored by Beatrix Potter
I always enjoyed the small books authored by Beatrix Potter. I read these books to both my children and grandchildren and they enjoyed the moments together. This book I've enjoyed giving me some insight to her interresting life and the restrictions single woman were expected to endure during the 1800s. She made the most of her life especially after leaving her parent's home.

Fascinated by her story so this book was a delight. Full of details with lovely and authentic pictures to accompany the story.

Next best thing to being there
I have only recently done a bit more reading about Beatrix Potter. The photography and text in the book provide the reader with a fairly complete picture of life in England during Potter's lifetime. You appreciate how she brought her surroundings and exposure into her books. You see the actual landscape she painted. Next best thing to being there.,

This is a wonderful book published in association with the National Trust. It contains very many fine photographs of the Lake District as well as Hilltop Farm--exterior and interior of the house. Included are also many of Beatrix's paintings and drawings from her books showing exact matches to her furnishings and home. My only regret is that the book was originally published under the title "Beatrix Potter at Home in the Lake District" which I already had. Oh well, you can't have too much of a good thing.

LOVE this book! As a fan of Beatrix Potter, especially her lesser known works like 'The Fairy Caravan' & 'The Faithful Dove' this book was perfect for me. In fact I bought 2 copies as I have an American friend who adores Potter. This book lets you see the beautiful house she is most famous for. I only recently visited the house and found it quite sad that I couldn't take photographs. BUT this book has everything in it that I wished to see and ponder over! An excellent book for anyone who loves Potter and Hill Top - highest recommendation.

Man schaut bestimmt immer wieder gerne hinein.
