I've gone through half a dozen portable monitors over the years, and this is by far the most superior. Great build quality, great aesthetics, and great versatility. It's incredibly lightweight and folds up nicely, which makes it very easy to carry around in my backpack everywhere I go. My one wish is that they make a version of the 14" monitor with higher screen resolution. This one is great for most tasks, but I'm a designer, and every now and then the resolution is insufficient for fine details. Overall, great value, one of my favorite products.

I've regularly needed to work away from my office for many years. When I was younger, this meant curling up in a chair with a laptop. As I've aged and as my responsibilities have increased this just doesn't work. I find myself being claustrophobic as I try to enter production mode on tasks. I've tried external keyboards/mice and risers to increase the ergonomics too ... but at the end of the day I was always left wanting for my Thinkpad keyboard and it's trackpad/pointer. More and more I've just known my productivity when working remotely would suffer ... often tremendously. On a whim I decided to switch things up. This monitor/stand is now behind my laptop. My neck is straight, I'm using my laptop keyboard and pointing devices. I have double the real estate. Literally it's so awesome, I'm embarrassed it took me so long to switch to this setup. The design top notch. It's quality. My Thinkpad is a X1 Carbon, I like hardware that sings a little. Sotsu scratched this itch well. My only critique (and it didn't affect 5 stars) is the screen. My laptop has a OLED high resolution monitor. It'd be super cool to have something matching for this monitor. That said, I know that battery would suffer and as such I get why they opted to go this way. Of note, the monitor is wonderful and not lacking like cheaper monitors do. Don't hesitate, just do it.

As a university student, this monitor has been a lifesaver for my studies. Having research papers open on one screen and my coding projects on the other has boosted my work efficiency. When I only need one screen for studying, I use this monitor to relax with movies or shows, and the Full HD 1080p resolution is fantastic! Setting up the monitor with my 14” MacBook Pro was easy. The monitor is super portable and fits well in my laptop bag, so I can easily carry it to the library or a coffee shop. I absolutely love the rose-gold color. It adds a nice touch of style. The screen is bright and vibrant, making everything look great. The monitor's pivot hinge is a great feature; I usually turn it vertically when I'm coding and rotate it back when I'm watching videos. It's super convenient. Very satisfied!

I’ll be honest: when I saw only 20 or so reviews, I was hesitant. However, I really loved the look and stand of this monitor, so I decided to give it a try. I use Macs and absolutely love having a second monitor, but Sidecar just doesn’t work that well for me. I first tried the Ingnok 15-inch monitor, which was fine. It was $70 cheaper and weighed less than 2 pounds, but it felt a bit cheap. Then I tried the ViewSonic, which cost almost $200 more but wasn’t much better. Both drained my laptop’s power super fast, and the screen quality was just okay. This monitor, however, exceeded my expectations. The build quality is top-notch, and the glossy screen perfectly matches my Mac. While the resolution isn’t as good as my MacBook Air M1, it’s still more than adequate. The built-in stand is fantastic—it puts the monitor at the exact height of my laptop and fits perfectly on small coffee shop tables alongside my laptop. My only complaints are minor. The provided USB-C cable is bulky, making it hard to plug into the stand. Also, the placement of the Sotsu logo on the bottom of the monitor is a bit awkward—if you flip the stand to the top position, the logo ends up upside down. Lastly, it would have been nice if the branding on the stand was placed on the back, so it’s not visible. What I love: Build Quality: Sturdy and well-designed. Battery Efficiency: I’ve been using it for an hour, and my laptop battery is still holding strong. Design: Compact and perfect for small spaces like coffee shop tables. Overall, I’m thrilled with this purchase!

I really like it unfortunately I have to return it. It does not work well with Mac. The display resolution is wrong which is unfortunate. I’ve used much cheaper displays that worked fine and have proper display resolution. I’m not sure why they could not accomplish this on this high-quality display. Also one thing that the reviews brag on that is actually a fault is that the display is reflective. Well, this is a problem because any light in the room reflects right off the display and makes it hard to see. Perhaps the GEN2 is better but $500 is a little much for the GEN2.

Sotsu is an excellent portable monitor for my Mac laptop. Great image, ease of use, plug in and go! The one caveat and why it loses a star for me... this order does NOT come with its compatible magnetic base.... which is what made me really want this monitor versus others on the market. I have now ordered the base, which is quite pricy on top of the monitor. Once I received the package, I realized my mistake. But the images for the monitor are misleading, showing the base even though that is not what you are receiving. No regrets, but it would have been nice to know that what I thought was a black friday deal of approximately $180 was more like $250.

Buttons were pushed in, rendering brightness adjustment impossible, Got stuck at 35% brightness Important Highlights when choosing a portable display, especially for frequent travelers: - Build quality: The aluminum chassis of the Sotsul seems far more durable than the plastic of my previous model. - Button design: The absence of protruding buttons on the Sotsul is a significant improvement for durability. - Protective accessories: The included foam-padded bag adds an extra layer of protection. - Brightness: While 400 nits is good, but could be slightly higher. Price vs. longevity: The more expensive Sotsul seems to offer better value in the long run due to its durability.

I'd purchased a cheap $100 portable monitor and returned it immediately. It required ac power and they provided a 2.5 ft cord. Insane. This monitor by contrast is great. Great fit and finish and great screen clarity. I'm using two of these on my windows laptop. One is connected via a USB-C that provides both power and the video signal. The 2nd Sotsu is connected via HDMI with another USB cable for power. Couldn't be happier with the quality of the images, the ease of setup, and the very low power consumption that allows me to plug it all into the laptop. No separate AC cord required. Though more expensive, I think these will be worth it in the long run. Really study construction. I have the stands which offer great versatility in positioning and height. Very happy with this purchase. The only thing remaining is durability.
