The best way to cure a lead-free clay pot is filling it with cool water below its rim, bring water to a boil and allow to simmer for 5 minutes, turn off the heat and allow water to cool in the pot (olla frijolera), discard the water and that's all you need. The clay pot is ready for use! Clean it with with a paste of salt or baking soda and water; avoid dishwashing liquids or soaps, scrub it with a plastic scraper.

looks beautiful but....
I received this pot yesterday. It is beautiful but the lid does not fit correctly on the pot. Unfortunately I am going to have to return it. If you do order this pot and the lid fits snugly- you will be able to cook a lot of beans in it. It really is a statement piece.

Quality and beautiful product!
During treatment stage, discovered minor leak. Called to report and told hairline fractures sometimes occur. Replacement promptly issued. I look forward to using this product.
