I’ve always found Shudh products to be finely milled, and this indigo powder was no exception. The fine milling makes it easier to mix with water and easier to wash out of your hair. Although it says, “Color your hair black”, indigo powder can be used along with other plant powders, such as henna, to change the color from a typical henna orange-red to a range of brown to auburn tones based on the amount of indigo added, and whether done in a 1-step or 2-step process. I use the 1-step process with henna. The Shudh indigo powder worked the way it should to tone down the henna’s color. For those who are new to plant-based hair colors, the smell of ground, fermented Indigofera Tinctoria leaves can be off-putting and the process time-consuming. For me, I prefer this to sitting in a salon for hours, inhaling all kinds of chemical fumes. The instructions on the bag probably aren’t as useful as they could be for anyone new to this. One tip is to mix enough water so that it’s easily applied with the brush but not so much that it will run down your neck. It’s really trial and error. Be sure to let it sit for 10-15 minutes before applying it! It helps to section your hair while the paste is “activating”. After application, cover your hair with the cap. Use an old towel around your neck to catch any drips if you’ve made it too runny. Although this says it’s organic, I didn’t see any certification. There also isn’t a Certificate of Analysis (CoA) available showing testing for heavy metals, contaminants and purity of the product. If those were available, this would get 5 stars. When manufacturers make specific claims, those should be backed up with objective proof that's readily accessible by customers.

Pretty bad packaging. I dont know how reliable is thr product. It comes from India, there is no exporters/distributors information. I rely less on Indian products information like ingredients they have

i was skeptical at first but it works good. i followed the instructions on the packaging and gave a very nice dark color

I used this indigo powder on my dark brown hair with some grays, mainly focusing on root coverage. The instructions could definitely be clearer—they simply say to add water to make a paste but don’t provide any ratios. They also mention using ingredients like henna and curd, which aren’t included. Since I only wanted a simple application, I mixed it with water alone and it still worked. The powder has a very strong earthy smell that isn’t particularly pleasant, and the mixture can become dry, clumpy, and flaky during application. I found that keeping it damp with a spray bottle helped a lot. One package wasn’t enough to fully cover my long hair, but it worked well for my roots and gray hairs. I left it on for about 2 hours and waited the recommended oxidation period. After about 2 days, the color deepened nicely and left my hair with a beautiful black shine. Another plus is that it didn’t stain my skin and was surprisingly easy to clean off surfaces. Overall, despite the confusing instructions and strong smell, I’m happy with the final results and would use it again for root touch-ups.

The indigo powder is good quality and easy to use. It mixed well and gave a natural-looking color when used with henna. The powder was fresh, and the results were satisfactory. It arrived on time and was packaged properly. Overall, a good product for natural hair coloring.

It didn't dye my hair dark even though i made all the steps as they said, and also it gives my allergic reaction so it's not all natural as they said it should has chemicals
