Snow shovel
This is a light weight snow shovel that functions very well.I have not used it in a very heavy snowfall yet but so far it functions extremely well for the light snow fall we have had

Amazing
Such a good shovel! I live in New England so we get a lot of snow and then it freezes into ice. But this shovel is very good at scraping down to the pavement to get all the snow. Super light so it makes it easier to shovel for short and long periods of time. Also surprisingly sturdy even though it's very light weight! 10/10 product!

Dug me out of over 2 feet of snow
I ordered this online on a Monday knowing a huge snow storm was coming to hit. I live in an apartment complex with snow removal, but we do have to dig out our cars. They plow and do side walks. I was wishy washy based on reviews but ordered any ways. No store had shovels in stock any more, and definitely not after out hard hit PA winter. Seemed a bit pricey, but I was not wasting a tank of gas driving around hoping someone had a $10 shovel in stock.I spent 3+ hours on Thursday, 4+ hours Friday, and 4+ hours today shoveling out. This thing got the job done. I not only did my car but helped neighbors as the plow decided not to do a decent job. The shovel carried heavy, wet snow. It was not flimsy. The plastic did not bend. Because of this, even though a small plastic shovel, I have to give 5 stars. The only thing I wish it had was a metal strip to break thru ice, but that is livable with.

Here I am, years later to write a 5 STAR REVIEW
I just got done shoveling the deck.. AGAIN. We live at 9,000 feet in Colorado and our solar panels DUMP onto our deck. I've had 2 of these shovels for 3 seasons now. I can not not believe they are plastic. They are SO strong, I've used them to chop blocks of hard packed snow and then shovel super heavy wet packed snow that has slidden off our panels. These things are as strong as the day I bought them. Fan Freaking Tastic! Thank you!

Lightweight, inexpensive snow shovel.
The Suncast SN1000 18-Inch Snow Shovel is a lightweight, inexpensive snow shovel that gets the job done. For under $20 shipped to my house, it is a good buy. I don't expect the plastic blade to last forever, but that's OK. I only want it to get through this winter season. The shovel's shaft is covered from the handle to the blade with rubber for a better grip. I wish it was a couple of inches longer, but it's not a big deal. I'm happy with it.

ARRIVED DAMAGED, COSTLY TO RETURN
Four days after this arrived, it snowed, and I opened the box to use the shovel. Immediately I saw three notches in the middle of the shoveling edge....bad news! I tried it on light snow and found that after one push forward, it left a trail of snow where the notches are. I tried it a bit more and found that, when used where it encounters ice, the shovel edge wears quickly and badly right along where the notches are. Where the edge is straight and un-notched, it does a good job of clearing off snow and does not wear so badly. But this one will not last long at all. I blame the company for sending me a defective shovel which was CLEARLY DEFECTIVE WHEN PACKED. I figured out what it would cost to return it, which is almost exactly one-half of the purchase price. So, if I ordered a replacement, it would cost me a total of just short of $25 (for shipping back and the new shovel). I am not pleased and will look for a different company with which to deal. I cannot recommend a company which allows its workers to pack and send defective products.

Good price, cheap quality
The shovel feels cheap. The shovel feels like it will break if you lift too much snow. I've had metal plated shovels in the past, and this does not seem to be reinforced by any sturdy material other than plastic. I was hoping the quality was higher and that the product would make me feel like it will last the winter. I think the length of the shovel is fine and the curve in the shovel head was appropriate, but not the quality. I doubt this shovel will last for the entire winter. I would advise a consumer to try out another shovel that is enforced by a sturdy material such as metal. If you need a cheap shovel for a short period, I would pick this one out. Other than that, this shovel will not last, and I would advise not buying it.

Not bad, just a bit short.
For the price, you obviously can't expect much. The pan is a sturdy plastic and the shaft is a hollow tube covered in a ribbed plastic. The handle is advertised as a steel core, but I'm not quite sure if the shaft is steel or aluminum; my guess is it's aluminum because of it's light weight. That being said, it does seem reasonably sturdy. We recently had a night with a little under a foot of snow here in New England and I put the shovel to use. It made quick work of my parking spot. I would be careful not to overload it with wet/compacted snow. My only real problem with it is that it's a tad too short for me; I'm 5' 11" tall. For the price I would recommend it for anyone under 5' 10" tall so long as you don't overload it with heavy snow.Update (02/08/2014): After further inspection, I actually read a sticker that was on the pan and it claims that the shaft is indeed made out of steel; and after looking at the handle, it can't possibly have a steel core, it is made of solid plastic. I have already used it multiple times up here in Connecticut and it has proven to be a well made product. Again, be careful not to overload with wet/compacted (read heavy) snow.

Packaging is important, too
Online shoppers must consider packaging as well. The shovel itself is fine. But it arrived covered in layer after layer of bubble wrap. Each one heat-shrunk. Then taped. Scissors, knife, nothing was working. It's a shovel not vintage glassware. Then I finally get to it and there is one of those impossible labels you see in my photo. Nothing takes it off, it just continues scratching off in little pieces. Manufacturers, *please stop doing this*

I just started using this shovel and it has already ...
I just started using this shovel and it has already cracked. I will repair it with some epoxy glue. It's a very lightweight shovel and suitable for light snowfalls.
