Writing I’ve used a few different storage options for my Xbox over the years, and the WD_BLACK C50 1TB Expansion Card is easily the most seamless experience I’ve had. The biggest selling point for me is how unbelievably simple it is to use — it’s literally plug and play. You slide it into the expansion slot on the back of the Xbox Series X|S, and within seconds it’s ready to go. No formatting headaches, no cables, no setup menus to fight through. What really makes the C50 stand out is that it acts as a true expansion of the console’s internal storage, not just external storage. That means Xbox Series X|S optimized games can be installed and played directly from the card without any compromises. Load times stay fast, Quick Resume works perfectly, and everything feels exactly like it’s running from the internal SSD. That was a huge difference compared to my experience using the Samsung T7. While the T7 is a great external SSD in general, on Xbox it became more of a storage transfer device than actual playable expansion storage. I constantly had to move newer games back and forth between the internal drive and the T7 because optimized titles wouldn’t run directly from it. With the WD_BLACK C50, that problem completely disappears — install the game and play instantly. Performance-wise, the card feels native to the system. Games launch quickly, downloads install smoothly, and the extra 1TB gives plenty of room for larger titles like Call of Duty, Forza, or Starfield without constantly deleting games to make space. Another thing I appreciate is the compact design. No extra wires cluttering the setup, no external drive sitting beside the console — just a clean, integrated solution that feels like it was built with the Xbox in mind from the start. Overall, if you want the easiest and most hassle-free way to expand Xbox Series X|S storage, the WD_BLACK C50 is absolutely worth it. It delivers exactly what Xbox owners actually need: simple setup, full-speed performance, and the freedom to play games directly from the expansion card without constantly managing storage.

Easy installation that just involves plugging it in and works right away. Compatible with all the latest Xbox games and is just as fast as the internal storage. The 2TB version is definitely the best option for expanding your storage for future games.

Brilliant little product. Fits easily in your pocket so if you set the card up to be used in multiple machines you can plug into a friend’s Xbox and off you go. It was so simple to use, plug it in, turn the Xbox on and it’s there, no faf, no formatting, nothing, and took seconds to transfer some big games over. Once over it acts like the internal drive, from home select the game you want to play and if it’s on the expansion card it just loads up as if on the internal drive, and no noticeable delay. My only negative…. I wish I’d bought the 2TB AS THIS IS GREAT.

Bought this because my Xbox Series X was constantly full. Between Game Pass downloads and a few big titles like Starfield and Forza, the internal drive filled up fast and I was sick of having to uninstall things every time something new came out. This card just slots straight into the back of the console, no messing about. It clicked in, the Xbox recognised it straight away and I was downloading games within a minute. Load times are identical to the internal drive which is the main thing. Some external options are cheaper but they can't run Series X optimised games directly, so this was the only real option if you don't want to keep shuffling things back and forth. A year on and it's still running perfectly with no issues at all. The 1TB doubles your usable space which has been a total game changer for our house. Worth every penny if you're fed up of managing storage.

Awesome little hard drive, that I was amazed with how tiny this actually is, its so quite and fast and well worth the prize to increase my xbox storage but without having to worry about weather I have to move the games back to the main drive to play them like many of the other hard drives for xbox. It allows me to have more space and if I want to play xbox series x enhanced games I can just start them from the drive. It works well but can heat up, so be careful if you unplug it after a gaming session to use in another xbox, oh and on that note just make sure its plugged in all the way as it'll still show as recognised but won't allow you to play from it if its only plugged in a little, I found this whilst moving oblivion to my wife's console to save downloading it again.

This is a great investment if you need more space for your games etc. Ok it on the high price size but well worth it as it performs 100% straight out of the box, no formatting or anything. I paid £133 for mine but in the box was a code that gave me 2 months of Ultimate game pass, now this costs £22.99 a month so straight away you have saved £45.98 and got a great piece of kit what more can you want

Easy installation & performs to the same standard as the the internal drive. I do prefer Xbox's extra storage solution over PS5's implementation. There are more choices available to PS5, but it's a faff. Plugging in a SSD memory card style with easy transfer between other consoles is a bonus. Especially if you have more than one Xbox in the home. Maybe you get kicked off the big telly by the missus, so you can take your games to the man cave instead. The build of the drive is solid. Prices for storage are fluctuating a lot at present, so some patience might pay off.

I’m so happy with this product, not just because it is more memory in one little rectangle than almost all my other memory cards combined but because it’s so simple to use, literally plug and play, yes it’s expensive but if you want the extra storage space for your Xbox x/s then this is the best option. I’ve used external HDD drives for years now and they have been great, however this new SSD is so much faster than anything I’ve used before, also you can play games directly without the need to transfer games back and forth between hdd and internal storage. I haven’t been able to compare this item with the other model on the market but I can say this manufacturer has made a great product.
