Although not a rust preventative, it will help if used often.

Q: Hows does it work on aluminum pontoon logs?

I used it on aluminum round fuel tanks on tractor trailer and it works awesome

Q: can you use it on a stainless steel exhaust system for a cb750 or is that too hot?

I haven’t tried it on exhaust but I would think it would work.

Q: can it be used on transmissions and alternators ,rearends ect....

This is basically a wax. It will protect metal, but the metal must already be polished. I use it on the I uncoated aluminum rear wheel of my Harley Davidson to protect it from tarnishing by exposure to brake dust. It works well for this.
