Quality, pioneering design at an ultra-premium price
This is a quality motherboard that comes at an ultra-premium cost. The PCIe 5.0 lanes are sensibly laid out, allowing for many M.2 NVME drives without eating into the GPU's PCIe lanes. I've had no issues getting the my Crucial T705 to negotiate as gen 5 in the M.2_1 slot. I'm upgrading from an ASUS ROG x670e Crosshair EXTREME, and the GODLIKE's expander board is much better than ASUS's offering on their premium motherboard. The GODLIKE's expander allows you to change NVME drives from outside the case (sorry, no hot-swapping). I was able to install it into PCI_E3 so that it does not take away any lanes from my GPU (though in this configuration it can only support having one of its M.2 slots active). My only complaint is that the fan on the expander just ramps to full speed right away and is unnecessarily loud. I really enjoyed the EZ Link design. It really made everything more clear and centralized over the x670e Crosshairs Extreme. The EZ Control Hub was also one of the more easy to deal with hubs. It makes sense to hide away most of the fan and RGB connections in the back of the case. I was building in a Cooler Master HAF Evo 700 and the fan and RGB hubs the case came with really made how comparatively easy the EZ Control Hub was to use apparent. The great thing about that hub is that it lets you set the fan curves in BIOS without needing to use third-party software in Windows. All the DIY niceties like the magnetic covers on unneeded ports, M.2 heatsinks, the EZ-Clip for putting in NVME drives, are all great. It is all very thoughtful and almost makes you feel like you're having a luxury PC-building experience. I've been getting some great PBO/CO results so I'm sure the VRM-supplied power and stability of the motherboard is good, but I did not A/B test it against any other board or anything. The two included temperature probes are useful. I nestled one into the cables coming from my 12VHPWR connector in order to detect any overheating situation before the connector starts melting. The other one I'm using for case ambient.I believe you can actually use them to control the fans in the motherboard settings, so that can be really useful for tuning an ideal quiet but functional cooling setup. The LCD display (Dynamic Dashboard III) is good. There's a decent amount of customization you can do once you use their software. The only significant flaw for myself is that I could not get Device Encryption to work on Windows 11. I could not get it to work on the x670e Crosshair EXTREME either. I get the same error: BitLocker cannot use Secure Boot for integrity because the expected TCG Log separator entry is missing or invalid. I suspect it's the same BIOS problem as the x670e Crosshair EXTREME and that the TCG log in PCR7 was not correctly written by their UEFI implementation.

This board has well-known, serious issues.
This motherboard has known issues with both the “EZ Bridge” module and the top m.2 SSD slot. MSI has attempted to fix the EZ Bridge issues to no avail, and they haven’t even acknowledged the m.2 slot issues, despite widespread reports and repeated support cases by various owners of this motherboard. The EZ Bridge will repeatedly disconnect, causing a system stutter and the sound of a USB device disconnecting. The EZ Bridge can be removed, but you lose ports internally and you must reconnect your power and reset buttons to undocumented ports along the bottom edge. The top M.2 slot will randomly drop back to a PCI1x4 instead of a PCI5x4 connection, topping out at 900MBps transfer speed instead of the 15,000+ it’s supposed to sustain. Searching for this motherboard model and “EZ Bridge” or m.2 will reveal the many reports of these issues on Reddit and MSI’s forums. It’s possible that a future firmware update will resolve these issues, and if so I will come back and update this review.

MSI MEG X870E GODLIKE Review — True Flagship with Zero Compromises
I don’t usually write reviews for PC hardware, but this one actually deserves it. I recently upgraded to the MSI MEG X870E GODLIKE, and the difference compared to my previous board was immediate. This isn’t just a spec bump — it genuinely feels like a different class of product. First off, the build quality is on another level. Everything about it feels premium — the materials, the weight, the finish. It doesn’t feel like a typical motherboard; it feels like a flagship product the moment you take it out of the box. The LCD display is honestly one of my favorite features. It’s not just a gimmick — it’s clean, useful, and adds a really polished look to the whole build. One thing that really stood out to me, and something I don’t see talked about enough, is how this board handles PCIe lanes. This might be one of the only boards where you don’t have to worry about sharing bandwidth with the GPU. That’s huge, especially if you’re running a high-end setup with multiple NVMe drives. Knowing your GPU is always getting full bandwidth with no compromises is a big deal. Where this board really impressed me though is overclocking and tuning. I paired it with a AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D and went deep into tuning: - Enabled PBO with motherboard limits - Added a +200 MHz boost override - Did per-core Curve Optimizer tuning (including pushing my best core to -30) - Tuned memory with EXPO at 6000 CL30 and proper 1:1 UCLK The BIOS is extremely well laid out for this kind of work. Everything is accessible, and it feels like the board actually lets you extract the full potential of the CPU instead of holding it back. The result was a system that is not only faster, but noticeably smoother in real-world use and gaming. Stability has been rock solid too, even after aggressive tuning and testing in demanding titles like Cyberpunk 2077. Overall, this board isn’t just about features on paper — it actually delivers in practice. If you’re building a high-end system and want something that gives you full control, premium quality, and zero compromises, this is easily one of the best options out there.

Good quality with multitudes of issues and bad compatibility
Setup: Ryzen 9950x3d w/ msi 5090+4090 custom loop As a long time enthusiast I have been building pc’s for myself and my friends since I was 14 years old. I have never had a worse experience with any motherboard in my entire life. To make it relatively short, this motherboard is incompatible with their own msi rtx 5090, pcie gen 5 does not work with any graphics card. The pcie gen 5 for nvme does not function at the correct speed and is unstable, the ram I had to go through multiple brands to get to work despite them being on the qvl list and still it is unstable and had to down clock to run, was able to get 2 sticks to run at advertised speeds. PBO is broken and does not work, never worked, went through multiple bios updates/reinstall. And lastly the boot time is still bad and takes forever comparatively. Quality? Sure it’s good, but useless if the features don’t work properly. I do not recommend you buy this motherboard if you expect for it to “just work”

So disappointed in MSI
I love MSI but was disappointed with this Godlike. I bought the intel 590 Godlike and loved it. I still have it to this day. So why am I disappointed? Let's Start. First off when I received the product the Heatsink over the SSD's was off and when I tried to put it back on it was difficult to lock it back in place. The second issue I had was every time I exited out of BIOS it would not post I would have to restart the PC for it to post, and I even tested the memory on a different board, so it was not the memory. The memory was also on the compatibility list. Now it was not all bad the board was beautiful, and the lighting and LCD screen attracted me to the board just as the previous board did, and it did not disappoint. I had no issues with connectivity to the internet as some other boards. The only issues as mentioned was the boot speed after bios as it would not post and the defective heatsink. I do not know what the issues were with the board but for the price of it there should be none and not like MSI to send out one with issues on their top-of-the-line models. So, if you buy one and the heatsink is just lying in the box send it back the latch is defective.

Unleash the dragon 🔥
If you’re building a flagship system and want zero compromises, this is the board. Worth every dollar. This motherboard is THE absolute unit. I dropped in two massive GPUs, 192GB of RAM, and slammed it with nonstop AI WORKLOADS... It didn’t blink. No drama, no tuning nightmares, no voltage weirdness. Just raw, stupid levels of stability. The power delivery is ridiculous, the PCIe layout feels engineered for war, and the whole thing runs like it was designed by someone who hates bottlenecks on a personal level. Memory training is instant. Overkill connectivity. Thermals that stay calm even when everything else in the room is sweating. If you’re building a real workstation — not a toy, but a machine that eats models for breakfast — this is the backbone you want. It’s unapologetically overpowered and absolutely worth it.

Excellent card but cannot run 4 sticks DDR5 at rated speed.
This is a very heavy card, solid construction. The MSI website shows 4 stick DDR5 ram tested by manufactures that you cannot buy the ram from. My 4 sticks DDR5 ram (128GB) only run at the standard speed not rated. If you buy this motherboard plan on using 2 sticks of ram to run at rated speed. There are 5 m2 slots, but I only used 3 to avoid resource sharing issues (slots 1,3,and 5). If you use pci2, pci1 will run at 8x and not 16X. Read the manual ahead of time to avoid resource sharing slow down issues. I love the included internal LCD screen for troubleshooting. The bios flash was very easy. All said, the new video editing PC runs very well. I was very annoyed (and surprised) by the DDR5 issues. I wonder if an intel build works better with 4 sticks of DDR5 running at rated speed.

VERY BEAUTIFUL, AMAZING IO, LACKS HEADERS.
installation was kinda rough, magnetic plate yanked one of my mounting screws under it when i was trying to install it in the case, but after that, my only other issue was the lack of usb2 headers. for a $1100 board, I'd expect more than one... also would be nice to have more than one JRAINBOW/JRGB header. But that's about where my compaints burn out, its installed, its so beautiful and MY GOD THERE IS SO MANY USB AND USBC PORTS ON THIS THING! Also the dynamic dashboard is a fun tool to have and can be used to display a variety of info or even just gifs that are preloaded or even you could upload some yourself! im thinking of downloading the ninja fighting MSI Dragon gif that the x570 Godlike had on it. So far very pleased.
