I just purchased this WUCOTC DIGITAL VOICE RECORDER 8GB+256GB,Model: Z1 ~ To help aid me in organizing my verbal thoughts and memories for writing my book. This is a very professional streamline design that fits most comfortably in my hand, made of quality metal and not plastic. I love all the options it has to offer, but likely I will never use them since I'm not a very techy person. I will probably stay to using the simple basic functions. It does have MP3 capability which would be terrific to use, but again, I will be using this primarily for memory retelling and random thoughts so that I can transcribe them later for my book. It's the perfect size! I also like having options for either choosing better voice clarity or choosing to have more storage space, It has several settings from high quality recording to low, but to be honest, the low quality setting was still impressive, it's not terrible at all as I suspected it might be... therefore I will opt for more storage with longer use. I also love how you can contact the maker by email for any issues, as they are very customer friendly wanting the buyer to be satisfied. I was impressed how they built their email address right into the electronic interface option "Contact" for instant reference when needed (otherwise I'd likely misplace or lose it!) It says a lot when a company stands behind their product like this. It's lightweight enough to put in a shirt pocket or to slip into a discrete place if needed, to record a conversation without knowledge by the other person; it even has settings for auto record. It's a nifty electronic! The manual was bone basic with a lot of detail that was daunting... I hope to find a user friendly video to help me understand the functions better, but being challenged understanding electronics, I had it up and operating within 10 minutes just trying to figure it out on my own. I'd definitely buy it again. I would buy this for any professional as a gift ~ it was very nicely packaged with quality packaging, an impressive five star, top shelf gift that you would be very proud to gift someone! ~ If someone gifted this to me, I'd be super thrilled!! I am always looking for the "ideal gift idea" where quality is exceptional or when my spending is limited trying to find a quality gift. This would be a perfect gift for a college graduate, a business owner, an attorney or doctor with a low price point giving a whole lot of bang for the buck! Great product.

Worked good for a cheap EVP recorder. Took a minute to figure out how to turn it on and off it’s definitely very odd configuration almost childproof lol. Read the instructions for sure you’ll need to.

Nice recorder. 4.5 Stars Overall, I like this recorder. However, I feel it could be improved with a few FW changes (and info to get it) to help prevent accidental file deletion. Pros: - Small but seems to be well built. - Long recording time, especially with included 256GB card. Haven't used enough to test battery life. - Pretty good recording quality, even at lower bitrates. No need for me to use anything near the max rate. - A lot of buttons - but fairly intuitive once you start using. - Easy to view screen. - Was easy to connect to my phone with a cable to do file handling that couldn't be done directly on the recorder. - While I didn't purchase this with the intent to use as an MP3 player, it is surprisingly good when using quality headphones/ear buds. Cons: - Menu structure and configuration is OK but some items are not intuitive. All other "cons" are file security handling related. Being able to do any one of the below items would help a lot. Be very careful when deleting, or wait until any critical files are backed up first. - Easy to delete file by accident! When reviewing files, will automatically go to the next file by default so when you hit delete, it might not be the file you thought! This can be changed with settings but not intuitive. May need to delete all files before it operates as expected to get recording numbers in sequence. - No way to rename file for easier ID without external device. Not being able to do this makes it easier to delete the wrong file. - Can't move file to another folder without PC or phone. This would provide some accidental deletion protection. - Can only select Card or Flash storage location and not a pre-created folder on one of these. This would allow separating recordings for different subjects. - No method to write protect a file. Bottom line, I'm happy with the recorder. I'd be more comfortable (and 5 stars) with a little more onboard file handling capabilities. But, If were to run this over with my truck, I would buy another one!! ;-)

Outstanding Perfect to record meetings. A lot of memory

Well for all I know which may be a GREAT little recorder! I would NOT know because as a blind man this device is TOTALLY inaccessible! Do not buy this thing! You will NOT be able to do a thing with it. They could have easily made it so by just making the buttons different shapes! It's called SHAPE coding You ignorant Lot! it doesn't even need to talk. But they could not be bothered thus only ONE STAR from a disabled fella who is dern tired of having his needs ignored by these arrogant know nothing about NOTHING companies!!

I ordered this voice recorder for a fairly unconventional purpose, and now that I own it I've found several uses for it. The main reason I ordered it was to use as a dream recorder. I've always wanted something on my night stand so that I could record my dreams when I wake up, and by the time I've unlocked my phone and found my recording app, they tend to fade. This voice recorder is super easy to operate even in the dark, and you can even put it on voice activated mode so you don't even need to hit a button to start recording. Since purchasing it, I've also started using it for keeping track of blog and writing idea while I'm out walking. I hate trying to look at my phone screen while out walking (especially in sunlight) but you don't need to see the screen on this device to operate it. Just hit record to start a note. the same button to pause, and the save button to store the note. Recording quality can be cranked down (which will get you 8,000 hours of recording time) or up pretty high (all the way up to 192kbps mp3 or even higher for wav files) to get really good quality recordings. I hadn't thought of this before ordering but a person could use this to record podcasts on the go, especially with the built-in noise reduction turned on. There are a lot of buttons on the unit and plenty of settings to go through, so you'll need to spend a little time (5-10 minutes) learning your way around the device and getting it set up the way you want. Once you've done that, you'll have a nearly limitless amount of recording space ready to capture your thoughts (or dreams!) at your fingertips.

The directions are crappy. I am having a hard time figuring out how to use it.

Remember those early digital cameras where you pressed the shutter button and counted two seconds before the camera took the picture? Well, welcome to the digital recorder that works on the same principle. And it's frustrating as hell. I took this device to a music class where I was recording live musicians in an informal setting. Think: some chatting, some playing, occasional starting to play and stopping to tune. All my other recorders, when you hit the record button, started recording instantly. You could also stop and restart them instantly. With this bugger, you hit the record button, you get a Please wait... and then it starts. It was a total disaster for my purposes. One day, in four class periods, I had more false starts than actual tunes recorded. And the majority of the tunes I recorded, I missed the first few seconds of playing. Another annoying feature, which tended to exacerbate this primary flaw, was that the screen went dark, even while recording, which caused me more usage woes. Most recorders do shut off after 10 or more minutes of non use, but not while recording. If my return window hadn't closed, I'd be sending this back. The rechargeable battery seemed to have decent life, but I didn't really stress test it. Transferring files to my computer went smoothly. Sound quality was acceptable, although often the first second or two was distorted, something I've not experienced with other small recorders. The only reason I didn't give it one star was that, for someone who wants to record entire meetings or classes, the issue fatal to my uses might not affect others. But I'm super disappointed.
