This is a great little laser! I have the genmitsu L8 which is a fantastic higher powered laser, but it's a lot bigger and bulkier than this compact kiosk laser. My shop is a big mess all the time and this little kiosk laser barely takes up any space so I'll put it on a shelf and pull it out wherever I want to engrave something fairly small. In the photos here, I engraved my logo on a cutting board, which I think is a fantastic application for this laser. Pros: fine laser spot = very sharp/accurate/detailed engraving All-in-one = setup was ridiculously easy, just plug in the laser unit and attach it and it's ready to go. The orange hood is a really nice safety feature too, plus included air-assist is a great addition Portability=super lightweight and convenient, bring it to craft fairs and personalize products real time. Value=this is a very nice quality laser, especially for the price Easy setup = worked with Lightburn without even installing the driver from the included SD card Cons: Working area = the engraving size is limited, but it's awesome you can pop out the bottom plate and set this laser on top of any sized workpiece with ease. Limited physical controls = there's a play and power button, but I wish it had a knob for the air assist as well. I'm super happy with this laser and can't wait to try out more features and accessories. I've been a genmitsu/sainsmart customer for years so I'm confident if I run into any issues their customer service will be very helpful, I just have to be patient to work around the time differences.

Very nice product! I hope to buy another soon! Good price for the quality you get, the customer service is top notch, and so far it's been a very solid and easy going learning curve for me (unlike cnc machining). Plenty of programs work for this, plenty of material can be engraved (wood to stone, metal finishes, or metal sprays for steel/glass). It's paid itself off within the first 6 months including the price of lightburn from random offhand projects, gifts, and customizations. Good fun for tinkerers. Good: Lightweight, good customer service, little space taken, cheap, has accessories, just works. Bad: small engrave space (100mm), accessories are expensive, cant engrave metals well.

Poor quality doesn’t work very well cut path is very small has frequent issues. I WOULD NOT BUY THIS waste of money

The build quality has been exceptional. The accuracy is pretty spot on once you get the hang of it. Its best one of the best items ive ever purchased. Very worth the cost. The software it comes with is very user friendly and set up takes less than 10 mins before youre burning away! 5 months later and the laser still works great, minus the air assist fan. The bearings are shot and the laser doesnt push air properly which causes issues cutting through wood. Very hard to find replacement parts. Contacted the company and they are 2 months behind on replacement lasers. Would be nice if they reached out for replacement fans.

This laser engraver has an extremely steep learning curve. The poorly written CutLabX software does not help. Only giving it 3 stars because it does eventually get things laser engraved, but I've had a ton of headaches along the way to even getting to that point. If I want to use it connected via USB on my mac laptop, I am required to disable system integrity protection (SIP). Very hard pass. I also purchased the camera, and had similar requirements to disable SIP to be able to hook it up by USB. Using WiFi, I am able to connect to the engraver (but not a the camera), but in doing so, you lose internet access to engrave. If I were able to connect to the camera as well via WiFi, I might give it another star as this would make marking complex objects/shapes easier... maybe. The CutLabX software is very quirky: - the window is not resizable and I have to drag the window around my 14" screen - it does not remember the size of your cut bed and defaults back to 400x400mm (vs the 100x100mm bed for this engraver). - it does not allow you to simply save changes to a file and always acting like its saving a whole new file - it frequently loses connection to engraver while printing - it does not reliably save changes made to speed/pass settings - zooming and scrolling the workspace is an exercise in futility The hood safety switch is also very touchy, frequently requiring repositioning to get it to work properly and allow for the laser to operate. I am using this laser engraver in conjunction with an electrochemical etching process to make legal 2A markings. The laser reliably burns through aluminum anodizing as well as spray paint to produce a mask that I am able to etch. I get some variation in depth, but the text comes out crisp and looks great. Hard to argue with the price as similar functionality can cost more than 4x or more, but would gladly pay twice the price for an overall better functioning system.

The device had many options to use and that was the confusing part and that is actually its strength once I’ve tried using all of them. It can be connected through WiFi on the iPhone or iPad using the Genmitsu app. On the PC, it can be used as a COMx port. Once it is set up, then you’ll have to learn how to place and secure the piece as well as to adjust the height from the laser to the surface of what you want to engrave. It took time for me to get response back to my iPhone not connecting while the iPad was ok - it was the setting on the app to connect to the network - thanks to the support person!

Was working great until about a week ago after the return window closed. Very precise with the engraving until now. Now it is constantly being kicked off the network and destroys material. No online support and with this economy I can’t afford to keep throwing money away.

when it works right it is a good laser. But.... Exhaust fan is too small, even with an external smoke extractor. I just removed the fan to allow the external extractor to do the job. Looses center too often. At times it does not recognize the door switch, even when shorted out. Because of the afore mentioned fan you will need to pull the laser out to clean very often or the lens will cloud over. It's sad because when it does work it's a very fast and precise little laser. it would be a great alternative to a Laserpecker or Xtool which to me are just way overpriced. (yes, I have an LP 1 and a LP 2)... Update.. Support for this item is a joke. I have sent them videos of the issue. their response was to tell me how to focus the laser. 1) I know how to fucus a laser 2) in what way does this relate to the laser module loosing center or the main board not seeing the door switch. Sent videos to their service department 3 times. Offered me $50 credit on a purifier. Why would I buy a purifier if the laser it is for does not work right?????? If I reflash the firmware the problems will go away for awhile, then come back. Sounds like a main board issue to me, but what do I know, I have only spent the last 45 years as an electrician and automation tech. Sain Smart assigned me a new service rep. They have sent me a New machine. Hopefully I won't have the same issue with centering and the guard switch. Prior to this issues I had, it was a little work horse. Remember. 1) have a good smoke extractor 2) clean it out regularly (like once a day for pine and cedar) Thank you Bettina from the Sain Smart Service team. I have a Genmitsu CNC router hopefully this laser proves to be a sturdy.

Il peut graver du bois, des roches, du carton, du cuir, du verre. Après, il s'agit de comprendre la vitesse et la force du laser. J'adore!

As a complete beginner, I was pleasantly surprised how easy this device is to use (with a little ChatGPT magic 😊). After a few initial tries, everything became smoother and better. Great choice for beginners!

Cuando tuve un problemilla el equipo técnico se desvivió en solucionarlo, tanto es así que me repusieron la grabadora al ver que el problema era de la máquina. Teniendo un respaldo así volveré a pensar en sainsmart para la próxima vez.
