Thumbs up from a thrilled and thankful teacher! Sending an orange in the post!
I've just finished 'Diary of a Brilliant Kid' and WOW! 😊✨ I absolutely LOVE it! So much so, that I've already started making resources and display materials to use with my class! We will be reading it together as of tomorrow and I CANNOT wait! I can't thank you enough for writing such a funny, relatable, heart - warming and inspiring book...again!The activities included within the book are simply brilliant too and I know my class will get so much from them! As a teacher, it's so rare to come across books that will genuinely inspire and impact the lives of pupils (especially at the stage I have - 10 and 11 year olds have selfies to take and YouTube videos to watch!) which is why I cannot recommend this book enough! It radiates positivity, celebrates uniqueness, creativity and being YOU! As well as tackling some tricky areas like growth mindset, flow, mental health and happiness. Child friendly. Adult friendly. Not patronising. Expertly done!Like with 'Shine', I feel enthused, excited and ready to take on the world and I can't wait to share that feeling with my class! So a MASSIVE thank you to the authors from me! Obviously a life long fan 😎👏🏼✨- Nicola😊✨

Wonderful book.
My son went to high school in August. He couldn’t wait. Totally ready for it after a really successful time in primary. From week 2 we noticed an issue with him. He wasn’t himself. Totally down, withdrawing himself from friends at break and lunch, unenthusiastic about everything. We put it down to the transition and doubled down our efforts to support him and show kindness and love.Nothing really improved. He was miserable. He hated it. There were so many reasons but mostly the sheer size of his school and various behaviour issues. He felt unsafe out of class and wasn’t learning in class. We got to October Holidays. Great. We got our son back. Awesome. 👍When it was time to go back to school he had a series of pretty major meltdowns. Total panic attacks. We decided to take him out for his sake. His mental health was in the gutter. He was off for nearly two weeks but I kept him busy.See this book? Diary of a Brilliant Kid. It was a godsend. Thank you. He’s a brilliant kid. I’ve been giving him daily tasks to keep him going and one of them is time to read and complete activities in the book. (Which he won’t let me see by the way!😂)Sod it though. I love it. I love the positive effect it has on him. I love how enthusiastic he’s becoming again and I love that we’re getting him back.Honestly, your book has helped more than I can say. He’s moved school and he’s now happy.Thank you. 👏

An important book for every child
Bought this for my son after reading a review on Twitter. My stepson has had a hard few years and finds it difficult to manage his emotions appropriately (he's 7). He can read this book himself and loves the idea that it's his special diary. Incidentally I bought a similar book for my panicy daughter and it's nowhere near as good as this one. I know this as my son hasn't put his down and keeps laughing out loud. He's not usually one to read on his own but he loves the humour of this and the idea that he's looking after his mental health.

Pacey, fun, thught-provoking read
Great little book to come back to again and again ... only wish it was slightly bigger format or spiral bound so my son could hold it open more easily to write on the pages.

If you're even looking at this, don't hesitate - buy it, it's Awesome!
I bought this book for my 9 year old daughter who was having a few "wobbles" She absaloutely loves it!It's full of funny stories, amazing tasks to complete, sections to draw in. My daughter was so enthusiastic about it that she had filled in 50% of the activities in the first week.I would say this book is great for any child, but especially good for a child who is having a tough time. The authors have managed to keep things light hearted & have managed to include activities thst ensure the child can reflect on the positives in life & just how brilliant they really are!

Brilliant book to use in schools for mental health lessons
I used this book most successfully within a primary school health and well being programme of work. The children loved the book so much that many of them actually bought it for themselves. Our new catch phrase became Say Yes to Mondays! The children loved the idea of becoming a 2%er. The type of person whose caring, kind and considerate manner helped everyone around them. I bought some of the diaries to give as prizes and the children who won them were over the moon. I would highly recommend this book in fact anything by Gavin Oattes is usually a resource worth having.

Only good for teens or really academic kids
Jam packed with information and words, I'm sure it's great for a young teen but really not suitable for a younger child especially if reading is not their thing. Not what I expected as it indicates it is good for children. I'd disagree

Must Buy for Kids
This is a great book for children and even adults! Anyone could learn something from the writers insights. I love how this book uses humorous examples that make the reader laugh, but also provide true introspection. It makes you feel all the warm and fuzzies!

Great for kids who loves to read
This book is great for kids who love reading else the tons of words and stories ( facts or not ) will seem daunting and boring. Have to note this is a rather thick book. The font size is decent. Lots of colours , cartoons and text in it. Only a few activities in my opinion. It’s mostly jokes, fiction stuff and some motivational quotes. It’s a little silly from adult perspective but I’m sure young kids with lots of humour will appreciate it. I would say this book is for age 9-12I ordered this back in mid-end September. Expected shipping on 14 Oct but didn’t receive it. I had to contact the seller and Amazon about my missing item. Seller was kind enough to resend another copy and I received it on my 29 Oct.

Excellent - a must read for children or those working with children
As a teacher for a number of years I have been aware in gradual changes in students' well being and mental health. As a Learning and Support teacher, I took it upon myself to try and create a teaching and learning program for our school that would cover emotional well-being and regulation, growth mindset and mindfulness. Because of this, over the past two years I have covered a lot of background reading in this area and trapesed through every teaching and learning resource that I could get my hands on....Well, I wish I had found DoaBK 2 years ago because it hits the nail on the head. It covers everything that is needed but what really makes this book fantastic is it does it all in a manner that children will love....do love...I have already taken it to school and used it with groups of students and they love it...an easy, fun read that children will enjoy but so valuable in all that it contains. Truly grateful to have it at my fingertips.
