There are a lot of things in the book that I now have in my gunroom. I found most of the items on Amazon.com for a lot cheaper than they want at Brownells. The book gave me a lot of ideas.

For extreme beginners, otherwise pass
First let me say that I am NOT a gunsmith. My knowledge comes from tinkering, a little light reading and internet tutorials. I buy almost all of my tools from Brownell's and know they are a great company. When I saw this book I was excited because aside from basic common sense self explanatory tools (screw drivers, bench blocks, cleaning supplies etc.) gunsmithing tools are very specific and require some learning to use. This book presented itself as a list of 101 specialty tools and gadgets that would be highly useful in anyone's shop. Unfortunately that's not at all what this book is. If you have spent any time at all tinkering or have any kind of shop, makeshift or otherwise, this book isn't going to tell you anything that even the most novice of gunsmith tinkerers doesn't already know. If you are brand new to the world of guns and hobby gunsmithing and are looking for a reference guide to get some ideas of what's out there, then this book would be useful. I'm sorely disappointed as I was really hoping for a good guide to learn about some of the hidden gems of tools that I'm certain Brownell's offers. This book covers the extreme basics like: gunsmithing screwdrivers, bench blocks, AR-15 accessories, scope mounting kits, an entire chapter on cleaning kits and plenty more basic stuff. Also, if you are like me and are interested in the art of gunsmithing pertaining to classic firearms and restoration (as far as tools go) this book is not it. It's geared almost exclusively to the black gun crowd. This may be what some of you are looking for and in that case this could very well be the book for you. Otherwise, not so much.Having said all of that, the book itself is put together well and makes finding the products easy as the product numbers are listed with each item. In summary, after reading it I would surmise that this book's target audience is someone who is brand new to firearms. If you just bought an AR-15 platform weapon of some type /tactical shotgun/ handgun and have no idea how to take care of it, accessorize it, perform general maintainance nor have any idea regarding the tools needed to do so, then this would be a great place to start and get a solid foundation of what's out there. It will save you from making the same mistakes many new gun guys do (put DOWN the hardware store screwdrivers!) If this profile doesn't describe you, then you may not find this book very useful.

Paying for Marketing Literature
As another reviewer said, useful only for beginners. Had a few things of interest to me. Buy it used. It isn't worth it's new price, possibly not even for a novice. Pretty much just a detailed set of short articles on elect Brownell's products. Almost like paying for marketing literature.

Gunsmith's bible
For all my fellow gunners and fettlers, this book is a must. Like many of us I have spent hours trawling the Brownells website for that certain 'widget' to complete a project. This book providers a primer for every gun related subject imaginable. It arrived today and has already inspired a number of new projects.
