I have to shave every day, opting for a wet shave as I don't feel that an electric razor gets close enough. This constant daily ritual can leave your skin a little raw and sensitive, resulting in a red rash and an increased chance of nicking the skin. I use an Alum Block periodically, with cold water to reduce inflammation and close the skin pores. This block is a little harsher than others which I have used, it doesn't glide across the skin, it drags and I have found it uncomfortable to use. It does do the job, it stops small nicks from bleeding quite quickly and does seem to last a long time. Another benefit of an alum block is that you can use it as an emergency anti perspirant by wetting the block and applying under the armpits to reduce sweat and dry the skin - this is after all what they were initially designed for?!!

Excellent after shaving

Great for stopping bleeding on minor nicks and cuts. Comes in a plastic box which is really handy for storage.
