Why are 2 (or 3) jars more expensive (by $2-3) than a case of 12 ? Is this how price gouging works ?

Definitely a riot. Better to buy the 12 pack for less money and donate the extra ones.

The outside diameter of the jar opening is 3.1875, the seal lid is 3.25 OD

Why are sellers allowed to break up cases and resell smaller portions for so much money? Price gouging is unethical and illegal, or so I thought?

The Ball jars cost us $16 for a case of 12 jars. That's $1.33 per jar. We sell the 3 jars for $6.25. We charge $7.08 shipping, which is calculated by Amazon. So, our cost of the 3 jars is $3.99. We sell the jars for $6.25. That's a $2.26 profit before Amazon fees of 15% which is $2.00. Then there is the cost of the shipping box and packing material. Which is a cost of $1.50. $2.26 profit minus Amazon fees and packing material of $3.50, leaves us with net a profit of -$1.24. Does this clear things up? We are not price gougers!

Are these wide enough to accommodate a Stick blender?

The inside of the jar opening is 3.0625". A stick blender with a blade shield 2.75" or less will fit nicely.
