Tapo (Taco) great robot vacuum
(Taco) is a really good robot vacuum. Tried my first one and learned what features I needed. Returned the old one and bought this one. It maps the space really well. If possible take as much things off the floor. You can set it to vacuum a single room, specific rooms or the entire space. The vacuum seems very strong depending on the setting. This vacuum also sweeps the corners. The battery life shown in the Tapo app is very helpful. You can view in the app where the vacuum has vacuumed. When it has finished it will automatically return to home. If needed it will suction the debris into the trash can home stand. It is good and avoiding objects and furniture most of the time. There are times when it will bump against things or furniture then continue on. The wheels help with slightly elevated areas. I have it set to show notifications on my phone also no matter where I am. Alexa or Google are limited with instructions you can give the vacuum. I use the Tapo app for everything. Price seemed good and happy with it so far.

Excelent
I really like the Tapo RV20 Max Plus so far. It has only run twice, but it’s exactly what I expected. It's meant to help with the cleaning, but you shouldn't expect it to clean quite like a person would. 100% recommended so far.

My cleaning hero
Setup was extremely easy. Once it mapped the house I have it set to vacuum everyday at 12pm. I have 2 dogs and 2 cats that love to shed all over my hardwood floors. I was vacuuming EVERYDAY. I can’t tell you how amazing it is to come home everyday and not see animal hair and have to vacuum. I have yet to use the mop feature as I wanted to make sure vacuuming went smoothly. It is constantly learning and improving if things get moved around. Compared to the stick vacuum it’s very quiet. For the 90mins it cleans it docks with 40% battery remaining which I think is pretty good. There are some areas that it’s not able to get due to floor space but I will take having to vacuum 1x a week for 5mins compared to 7x a week for 1hr any day.

UPDATED 2/16/25 - Absolutely awful
Update 2/16/25 -- I've updated this to a four-star review. I did return the RV20 Max Plus, but Tapo's support came through and offered me a discount on the next highest model, the RV30 Max Plus, for the same price I paid for this one. So far, it has worked much better, but I don't think that means the RV20 Max Plus is a bad product -- I think my original unit simply had a defect. The only real difference between the two is the placement of the mapping sensors, but I don't think that alone accounts for the major issues I encountered. I'm only giving four stars because the RV20 Max Plus I received had so many issues and it was frustrating to reach a tier of support from Tapo that was helpful, but I am happy with the support I received. My original review is as follows. --- I got a special deal on this from the Amazon app that made it difficult to pass up. It was a significant upgrade from my previous vacuum (at least on paper), a Eufy 25c. I own a lot of Kasa and Tapo products, but this is the only one that's been so bad that I returned it. This vacuum supposedly offers mapping, but it's completely broken. When I start the vacuum, it immediately gets lost and tries to return to the dock, but is unable to find the dock it just left, so it spins in circles and wanders back and forth for several minutes before eventually just turning off. It's clearly defective, but the product's support was completely unhelpful. After a lot of factory resetting and numerous attempts, I finally got it to map my home (at least to some degree), so I thought maybe it would work out, but the next day, it was unable to go anywhere in my home, saying it was "unable to reach the designated area," at which point it would return to its dock. After three days of being unable to use the vacuum without massive problems and frustrations and support not reading my emails and just sending me form letters back, I'm returning it and getting my money back. I'm very disappointed in TP-Link for this device and will strongly reconsider buying anything from them in the future.

Waste of money
Waste of money. When it works, it’s great. Empties itself and picks up mostly everything. However, it is constantly breaking. I get notifications almost every night about a new error with it and it only cleans 1 strip (if that) before it shuts off. Not to mention it only runs on hard wood floors so it doesn’t even have to switch between hardwood and carpet. I do what the app tells me to do to fix the error and it still doesn’t work. Constantly says the front bumper is stuck, wheel module error, main brush is stuck, etc and I never find anything wrong with it. Not worth all the time put into it to try to fix it and certainly not worth all the money I spent on it just to have to get rid of it less than 6 months after purchasing

It cleans itself
sees the layout of the entire 1st floor and proceeds to clean with the push of a button or just as easily, remotely with the tapo app. this also acts as a speaker for a tapo wireless camera, notifying you when there is something spotted by the camera

First purchase for robot vacuum recently. Tested it. Very very good. Can consider getting one to do your daily mopping and vacuuming. The mapping takes a while to do and to figure out where to section those no go zones. But it works well. 👍

Updated review. Unit has started to squeal continuously during use. I reached out to seller who then passed me off to the manufacturer. As the seller is not an authorized dealer of tplink products I will more than likely be SOL. Buy with caution as the seller and manufacturer will probably leave you high and dry if something goes wrong. Purchased to replace a different brand that claimed that it was good for pet hair but came up short. This one works perfect as described.

DIdn't work. Could not return home (ie. the dock). Could not detect it's at home (even with manual placement) so it could not charge or maintain/hold it. Battery level can report charged at 95% , then in the next 5 minutes, report that it's close to flat 5%. I know that with any robot vacuum even with highly well known/reputable brands, it's possible to always get a faulty model and that's just a fact of life. Returned product and got a refund, decided to buy a more expensive model under different brand instead, (that specialises more on robot vacuums and is known for that to minimise risk). Tapo appears to be a jack of all trades when it comes to the devices they sell, and the support can be hard to get with longer back and forth correspondance via email/forms. Several things that can be considered red/grey flags. At certain locations around the house it seems that wifi connection can be weak through certain walls/corners. The fact that this product with it's accompanying application came in reporting a firmware update to deal with "returning home" issues (can't remember the exact documentation wordings) is very risky. If the firmware failed to install properly maybe due to unstable network connection at the user's home, it could had literally bricked the vacuum. I guess that was what happened could had happened to me and thus couldn't eventually get to install this properly. Again, don't know the reason why or it could had been faulty right at the start of installation.
