Great little laser. It's my first but it works well now that I've learned more about it. You can't engrave metal or glass with the 2.5W. I would recommend getting the 10W starting off if you want more options. At this point ill just upgrade to a larger laser with higher wattage rather than upgrading the module since the module is the majority of the cost. I do leather mostly with this but it can do plastic, wood, and painted surfaces too.

This is the first laser engraver I have ever tried to work with and I had high hopes. I like the small footprint and the advertised versatility to work with a variety of mediums. However, I use a MacBook and found that trying to get the software downloaded and get it connected was far from simple - I can only assume it is easier with a PC. Some things I do not care for is that the free software that is supposed to work with this engraver is basically useless - in fact, their own customer service recommends the purchase of a commercial program over their own software. I tried a trial of the software and was able to get it running, but I haven’t used the engraver enough to justify paying $60 for the software. I don’t have great chunks of time to dedicate to figuring it out at this point. I will say that their customer service team has been very responsive and has done their best to help me, but I just have not had the time to go through a good tutorial to figure out how to use the commercial software, as I do not find it very intuitive. This particular laser engraver is 2.5, the lowest power they offer. Unfortunately, that means it is pretty much useless for most cutting tasks, which is one of the things I had hoped to do. I do hope to eventually get the time to work with ot more, but for a complete beginner, especially if you use a Mac, something else would be a better choice.

overall its good for small projects or light duty engraving. This is only the 2.5w laser. I would personally recommend the 10w version if you do get one. That said, I went through and attempted to complete a firmware upgrade and it failed. I have been working with lasers and andrino / pi boards for many years and the error that I received was due to the board not able to boot into the correct bootloader state. Long story short, the board was not booting into a mode that would allow it to accept a firmware to be written. I messaged support and they did go through most of the basic troubleshooting to attempt to resolve typical issues but none of the troubleshooting actually addressed the error message that clearly stated the Board was not in the correct mode. I do believe if I were to continue with troubleshooting they would likely replace the device. That being said, it does work out of the box, i was just attempting to upgrade the firmware as per directions on their site. It works out of the box and I was able to engrave within about 30 min of unpacking. I would say this would be a good super beginner laser that is moderately easy to use but again, i would recommend the 10w version if its in your budget.

Why won’t it engrave? I have been having issues getting it to connect and now engraving. It does not pull up on my laptop so I’m using the app on my phone

2.5 watt so you would need to go over the area a few times...if you could I'd go for a 20watt

The product arrived scratched, and customer support is unresponsive. On top of that, the performance is too weak for what it’s supposed to do. Very disappointing experience.

Die Lieferung war zügig. Das Gerät war nach Installation des Lasers sofort einsatzbereit und funktioniert einwandfrei. Verbindung mit Handy oder Laptop problemlos. Habe bisher nur graviert auf Holz und Kork. Super Ergebnisse. Ich bin sehr zufrieden.

Ich habe die 2,5W Variante zum Testen bekommen. Ich bin absolut begeistert ! Häufig sind Bastelwerkzeuge mit einer hohen Lernkurve verbunden. Mein erster 3D Drucker musste lange eingestellt und getrimmt werden, meine CNC Fräse war noch 100mal schwieriger. Diesen Lasercutter habe ich aus der Verpackung genommen, das Lasermodul eingesetzt, die App installiert und sofort beim ersten Versuch super Ergebnisse erzielt. Pappe schneiden ist kein Problem, Holz gravieren auch nicht. Auch weißes Papier konnte ich ohne Probleme schneiden. Balsaholz soll auch schneidbar sein - aber das habe ich noch nicht getestet. Einfach mit dem Smartphone per WLAN verbunden. Ohne Account, ohne rumgefummel — einfach Super 👍
