Excellent cover crop
I use lots of buckwheat for cover crop in my organic gardening projects. I do not eat it so I canโt comment on protein content, cook time, taste, or any other culinary or gustatory aspects. From a horticultural perspective it is high quality. The seeds germinate fast and at a high rate, and produce pretty plants that help protect the delicate soil environment. I avoid using cover crop blends indoors because a lot of the plants in them arenโt suitable for my style of container gardening that maxes out at 15 gallon pots. For larger outdoor containers, or even indoor beds, cover crop blends containing brassicas and legumes in addition to the buckwheat are more practical. But for my indoor containers that range from 5-15 gallons, monocrop buckwheat is the easiest to manage.

These are the black buckwheat seeds best used for micro green sprouting
Just about to harvest my first batch of this. They grow just fine and have a mellow flavor. I sprout with burlap and a colander, worked great, 7-10 days with these if sprouting. Super duper healthy high protein. Even cooked some seeds, boiled then salt paper and butter, their alright I think I will get the light color buckwheat for that though. Still learning the difference. These are black seeds I think best used for micro green sprouting

Great germination for micro greens!!
Excellent germination rate, 90-100%. Tasted green and fresh, appears as it should, well packaged. Great in salad and on sandwiches for healthy fresh greens.

good for chicken gardens
I was not able to get a decent harvest out of these seeds, but at least my chickens love it all.

Sprouted right away!
Great cover crop for my chickens. You have to keep them out of it until the buckwheat matures but then they LOVE IT! Super good for them too.

Fresh and ready to grow
Buckwheat is an excellent short-term cover crop. This company has the freshest seed so far and it sprouts really well.

For growing greens, not jar sprouting
I am new to sprouting, very new in fact. I read that buckwheat was a very easy sprout so I bought this organic seed. Unfortunately, it turns out that this is not the right buckwheat for "normal" jar sprouting, this seed is for growing greens/grass and requires that type of sprouter. This seed has the inedible hull still on it. I think the description could be a little clearer. If you want to sprout buckwheat look for hulled buckwheat or "groats". But not toasted buckwheat or 'kasha', obviously that will never sprout, having been cooked. The only upside is my birds seem to like it a lot so I guess it won't go completely to waste.
