Good tire lube.
I bought this for large truck tires and it works nice. It’s the same as other professionalTire soaps but in a smaller bucket. I only do my own tires so it makes sense this way. I use a small plant brush to apply it and it works very well. It’s thick enough that on a hot day it doesn’t dry out to fast like soapy water but it’s very slippery and tires go on and off easily.

Great Tire Lube
Used this tire lube to help tube and remount some very old loader tires. The lube works great, lots of lubricity.

a puny pump was enough
Six years ago I used a 220-volt compressor with a big tank to mount a front tire on my mower. I also had to remove the valve core, use white grease as a sealant, and tighten a rope around the circumference. This time, no tank was available. I bought a tub of Murphy’s. It’s a translucent amber paste that reminds me very much of Murphy’s Soap. The label says it contains potassium soap, potassium diethylamide (a foaming agent common in cosmetics), and sodium EDTA (used in shampoos as a stabilizer). It looks harmless. The new tire had been mashed for transport. From a tree limb, I snipped six pegs 8cm long and used them to prop the beads apart. There was no hot sun to warm the rubber, so I left it in a warm oven for a couple of hours.I mixed a teaspoon of Murphy’s with a tablespoon of water and stirred until it mixed. I applied it with a small paint brush.1. It helped me remove the old tire.2. As a soap, it was ideal for scrubbing the bead areas of the rim. When seated, the bead of a tubeless tire sits on the ledge. On these rims, the bead must be forced over a lip to get onto the ledge. That explains why seating a bead was difficult six years ago.3. When I ordered tire mounting compound, I was afraid dirt would stick to the lubricant. After I brushed the dilute mix onto the bead of the new tire, it dried to a to a film that was slick but not sticky. There was a similar film on the rim.4. When the tire was on, each bead crossed its lip diagonally at two places. There was bound to be serious leakage. I used a finger and a cotton swab to apply paste as a sealant. With the pump running, I used a wet finger to detect the draft of escaping air. I touched up that spot. The bead popped into place with surprisingly little pressure. I discovered that the pump would not inflate the tire to 12 psi because of a bad leak in the hose. Thanks to Murphy’s, the beads had seated anyway.5. I inflated the tire with another pump, then brushed the mix around the rim to check for leaks. The tub has enough paste for perhaps 700 jobs like that. I won’t mount many tires, but I can mix up a little any time I need a dry lubricant (if it doesn’t have to be waterproof).
