Although these cups are a little large, still very good for the Marcella Chai that I’m recently getting into making. This unit does absorb the aroma and some of the fragrance that the chai bakes into the clay!

I never thought I'd be writing an ode to clay cups, but these beauties have me singing their praises. This set of handmade pottery mugs is like a little slice of rustic heaven. Each cup is a unique masterpiece, and the earthy feel of the unglazed clay adds a touch of authenticity to my beverage routine. They're perfect for everything from morning coffee to evening wine—yes, I'm that classy. And let's not overlook their versatility. Need a quirky flower pot or a charming little bowl for snacks? These mugs have got you covered. It's like they were designed to cater to all my eclectic needs. The 16.9 oz capacity means I can have a generous serving of whatever I'm drinking (or snacking on), and the fact that they come in a set of four means I'm always prepared for guests. Plus, they're surprisingly durable for something so elegantly handcrafted. In short, these clay cups have become a staple in my kitchen, and I love showing them off to anyone who visits. If you're looking to add a touch of artisanal charm to your home, these mugs are a delightful and practical choice!

Kinda Strange Drinking Cups
If you’re going to sell an unusual kitchen product, it really does help to include some instructions. There is nothing in the on-line product description and there are no instructions included with the product itself to explain how to use these things properly. An insert card in the product box merely states: “The first use instructions must be applied before cooking.” That’s not too helpful if they don’t include the “first use” instructions is it? And if you go on-line and try to find something out, most of what you get is a bunch of “new age” mumbo-jumbo, some of which claim terra cotta cups remove impurities and chemicals from your drinking water. Don’t you believe it! The only thing most articles consistently agree on is that the cups are porous and should be “seasoned” by soaking them in water before use. The cups are very large by themselves and hold 17 oz. of fluid. That’s quite a lot! When full, the cups are pretty heavy for one hand to hold. It is suggested to use these with tea or coffee, as well as water, but I would hesitate putting milk, cream or fruit juice in a porous clay cup that you can only wash in water and baking soda. Or so they say. As sort of a consolation prize, the seller does say you can use these cups as planters or you can paint them and use them for decorations. At more than $30 for a set of four cups, these are very expensive flowerpots! If you get some use out of these things as drinking cups, more power to you, but if you’re an average Joe – like me – you will not find these useful without some accurate instructions. It’s your money, spend it wisely.
