Put inside a 920x mini PC. Add a 8x2.5gb switch Add a Unifi U7 Pro Better firewall/router/AP reliability, speed, and concurrency than any sub $1000 appliance can provide, for a grand total of ~$440. Throw in a few moca 2.5 adaptors and you can easily spread 2.5g whole home easily. I have a fast enough Internet connection to saturate the uplink port and ~100 networked devices across the house. No issues at all with the NIC, none whatsoever. Doesn't drop like the Intel 225/226 sometimes do, so a good implementation of the chip. Auto detected in pfsense, Ubuntu, and windows. Stable ping to my nearby speedtest.net server of 16 +/- 4ms. Stays nice and cool in a tiny PC. Win. Win. Win.

good card and amazing price, however my linux SERVER (TRUENAS SCALE) was not able to load the network driver for this card until i enabled SR-IOV feature in my BIOS. At least on my configuration that seemed to be required even though I am not doing virtualization with this NIC.

Have to manually add drivers for server 2025, but automatically installs in 2022, win 11, no prob. Card stays static, adapters don't reinstall randomly, allowing you to assign VMs to them no prob.

Honestly, this Intel i226-V NIC has been nothing but trouble. I tried using it with pfSense and it constantly dropped connections, threw watchdog timeout errors, and would randomly kill my WAN link until I manually reset it. I updated firmware, tried every driver and setting tweak out there, and even reinstalled pfSense from scratch, and tried 3 different motherboards with no luck. As soon as I swapped it for an older Intel i210, or a Realtek, yes a Realtek worked over the intel, everything worked perfectly. Bottom line: it just doesn’t play nice with pfSense or FreeBSD right now. Save yourself the headache and skip this card. Update, had issues with windows 11, server 2019, server 2022 and server 2025 built in drivers and intel specific drivers. This card is a flop.

Well packaged, very affordable and the card works as expected. The Intel chip has good driver support. I used the included half-height bracket in a Supermicro mini tower NAS.

Excellent performance after a bit more trouble than should be necessary. And because of all that trouble I do not recommend this product for systems running Windows 11. Read on for the details. The problem: Windows 11 blocks some features of the drivers that ship with the device. They will install, but you'll be faced with relentless pop-up notifications informing you that windows has blocked part of the drivers from functioning and speed will be limited to 1 gigabit. After you've figured out that that doesn't work, use Windows Device Manager to uninstall the device and remove the dysfunctional drivers you shouldn't have just installed. You'll need to obtain the latest drivers from intel's website, where Intel informs you that only the base drivers are supported on W11. Attempting to use Intel's installation program will fail -- the installer will either do nothing or claim no intel network adapters are present. Instead, install the drivers using Windows Device Manager's "update driver wizard" by pointing it at the directory that contains them and selecting random sub-directories until you discover the right one, then ignoring the "unsigned driver" warning from Windows. And of course, every time you pick the wrong directory, you'll have to start over from the beginning. I'll save you the trouble and tell you it's "PROXGB." Congratulations: now you've got the device working, but intel's driver support agent will nag you to update the drivers. Don't try, the update will fail, and of course the driver support agent will nag you again later about the update. All of this assumes that you have a pcie x8 slot available for installation. Better check your motherboard before you buy. Many newer motherboards don't. I guess the price is right if you've got the patience, knowledge, and a compatible motherboard. In fact, these things probably work just fine under Windows 10 or Linux, but if your running Windows 11 I'd highly recommend getting something else, even if you do know what you're doing.

Works, both on Windows and Linux. The NIC chipset was instantly recognized on Debian (Proxmox), Ubuntu and on windows. Had to purchase an SFP-RJ45 plug, that added to the price. So, if you don't need fiber, you better buy a NIC card with an RJ45. That will save you money, space on the back and maybe some small complications.

Installed in recent Dell desktop with Windows. When NIC has link, system will hang during boot. Disconnecting link until Windows boots it is ok. Found that after disabling "SecureBoot" in UEFI/BIOS, it did not hang during boot.

Die Karte wurde zunächst unter Windows Server 2022 nicht erkannt und erforderte ein Firmware-Update. Es sind ausschließlich originale Intel-Treiber notwendig, da die mitgelieferte Software veraltet ist; die beiliegende CD kann daher ignoriert werden. Nach dem Update funktioniert die Karte stabil und erreicht den erwarteten Datendurchsatz über das DAC-Kabel zum Switch. Zudem ist Wake-on-LAN (WOL) verfügbar, sofern das BIOS/UEFI dies unterstützt. Für ältere Server gilt zu beachten, dass die Karte nur im EFI-Modus ohne PXE funktionsfähig ist. Ist also für die Plug&Pray-Fraktion nur bedingt geeignet, da sie ohne Zutun nicht unbedingt out of the box rennt.

Cheaply priced and works well. I'll add that this worked out of the box with ESXi 7.0.3 running on a Dell 7070 desktop plug into a unifi dream machine.
