Lovely watch, bit small for a man though
This is a lovely watch to look at, but a different affair to wear. I'll clarify. When you open the box its so simple, so clean, so minimal. The detail on the face is precise, the glass is crystal clear, even the font on the watch is lovely. The leather strap is tidy also, even the clasp oozes class. But then I put it on, and its like wearing a woman's watch. Its way too small for a mans watch for me. And that is simply enough to rank this way down to 4 stars (I felt 3 was too harsh given the subjective nature of these items). I have small wrists but this is positively tiny on me.So if you like a smaller watch, no alarms, no smart alerts and a touch of minimalist class then this watch is totally for you. For me however if its not 42mm then its not for me.

An evolution to the classic Swiss Rail watch
I'm a fan of the traditional Mondaine watches which replicate the Swiss Railway clocks seen at railway stations throughout the country. This is a new model in the Mondaine range - the evo2. It differs from the original evolution model, which may be being phased out, in a number of respects. Admittedly, as Mondaine suggest, these are evolutionary changes rather than revolutionary ones. In some order of significance, the crown has been increased in size making it easier to adjust the time shown on the watch. The case back has changed to make it merge more subtly into the body of the watch and it has a more curvaceous design. Finally the lugs holding the strap have been extended a little. As noted, these are not major changes but will appeal to any collector of the Mondaine traditional watch series. The watch comes in a standard, good quality, Mondaine presentation case. This model has a traditional white face, black hour and minute markers, and black hour and minute hands. It has a very clean look and it's very easy to tell the time even if you need glasses for reading. The watch also has the feature second hand, in red as usual, with the bulbous end - exactly replicating the look of the Swiss Railways Clock. In the case of my watch the second hand precisely aligns with the minute markers on the watch face. This model has a 35mm face which might be a little too small for a man's watch and a little too large for a woman's. Overall though it looks very good with a high quality black leather strap with a buckle embossed with 'Mondaine'. The watch is manufactured is Switzerland and uses a RONDA 503 quartz movement. This is also Swiss made, and whilst a fairly basic movement has an impressive, potential, battery life of 10 years. So overall, unlike many watches which claim to be Swiss made, but which are often only assembled in Switzerland, this watch is a true Swiss watch. Backing this up is a two-year manufacturer's guarantee.A little less positively, there's no date feature on the watch, but that means that the face retains it clean, easy to read, look. The watch is waterproof to three atmospheres which really means it's Ok to have on when washing your hands and not when taking a shower, and certainly not if swimming. In any event, any such activity would quickly destroy the fine watch strap. I guess also, as a new design, it's a little expensive. Mondaine watches are not discounted to anything like the extent of many cheaper brands but at time of writing you'll be paying close to the full list price for the watch. In one major respect the watch differs from the Swiss Railway Clocks in that the second hand does not rotate fully in 58 seconds and then remain at at the 12 o'clock position for two seconds before moving on as the minute hand does. Swiss Railway clocks do this and I'd dearly love a model replicating this pattern. They are available from Amazon but for a premium price as for the Mondaine Men's Quartz Watch with White Dial Analogue Display and Black Leather Strap A5123035816SBB.With the subtle design changes, the wonderful readability, and the good build quality in this model, overall there's little to complain about. An excellent watch worth 5 stars.

No certificate, mislaid by seller
The watch packaging and price were ok, but no certificate means using the 2 year guarantee is non standard.

Mondaine Men's Evo sapphire watch - smart and accurate.
This is a really nice looking watch. The classic railway clock face. It looks great. I have thick wrists, the watch strap is long enough to do up and the watch does lend a certain elegance that I do not naturally have. It is comfortable to wear. It is a quartz movement so will need replacemet batteries occasionally. All in all a smart and accurate watch. 5 stars.

Mondaine Men's evo2 35mm sapphire Watch with St. Steel polished Case white Dial and black leather Strap MSE.35110.LB
The 'Mondaine Men's evo2 35mm sapphire Watch with St. Steel polished Case white Dial and black leather Strap MSE.35110.LB' is a beautiful Swiss watch, with the traditional Mondaine face and a smooth black leather strap. It says 'mens' but it has a 35mm face which is a small enough one for a woman to comfortably wear it. The glass face is slightly rounded, which is unusual, and looks lovely. It is very clear to read even with poor eyesight/in low light, and the stainless steel case ensures that there are no allergy issues with it.Expensive but a beautiful, classic timepiece.
