I’ve been dealing with multiple small tears around my anus for 5 months and it’s been awful. It started with just the tears and then I developed a red rash around my anus and genitals from scratching / overwiping. The itch at night has wreaked havoc on my sanity and sleep schedule. This product is literally the only way I’ve been able to get some semblance of sleep.It goes on easily because it’s a cream instead of ointment, and starts numbing immediately. If you have open wounds like I do there may be a dull sting for a few seconds - the sensation in my experience is very tolerable and fades quickly into blissful numbness.I use this product at night to help me sleep. It usually lasts around 4 hours and I typically wake up around 3-4 am and reapply. Not ideal, but it’s almost impossible to sleep without it. It also works perfectly right before a sitz bath to dull the initial sting, and make it overall more tolerable.Others have complained about how hard it is to open the tube. The first few times were really difficult, but I learned how to open it easily without the product spilling out. Hold the tube at the very top where it’s stiff (just below the cap), then push down the cap and twist. As long as you’re holding the tube correctly it should be very easy.One last thing... if you’ve been dealing with a similar situation: don’t be like me. I waited 5 months to go to the doctor because I don’t have insurance and was afraid of the cost. I tried really hard, but couldn’t heal it on my own. I just went to the doctor yesterday and the rash turned a shade lighter within hours. GO TO THE DOCTOR!!!

As far as pain relief, this works pretty damn good. That doesnt mean it wont hurt if you have to do your #2. But after you're finished, clean the area or put on the finger cuts they give for free and apply rectasmoothe. You will feel relief and the pain goes away pretty quickly.The only thing I don't like is the childproof cap. It's hard to open and I feel the tube might eventually leak because it gets bent and twisted due to the cap having to be pressed while turning. But so far still ok!

This is a good product and works. Would love to re-order BUT won't because the cap is absolutely impossible to get off ( at least 3 family members tried to open) had to cut the bottom and squeeze all of the product into a container. HUGE hassle. too had because the medication works but who want to go through this? I saw the several other buyers had the same problem

This product works great comparing it to the name brand. You get more for less money and it gives you the same relief. Many of the reviews talk about how difficult it is to get the safety cap off. Yes it is tricky. However, my husband did it fairly quickly and then the trick is to just not re-cap it all the way. I just left the cap on, but mostly so I would not have to struggle again. Problem solved. Anyway, product works to relieve symptoms, but I can't say I'm cured. I most likely have to see my doctor.

Purchased this for my daughter. She stands all day, and this really causes her a lot of discomfort. Some days she is so miserable she has to leave work.She said she really likes this product and recommended that I buy some for myself. So I’m getting ready to order some.According to my father I’m not a perfect A-Hole. Cheesy grin.

Many of you have written reviews on the difficulty of opening the cap. I faced the same problem too but my daughter found a easy way. Hold the neck of tube in one hand and use the palm of your other hand to squeeze and twist. Kindly note use the palm. If you use your fingers its going to be a nightmare and its hard to remove. Now once I know the trick I open and close many a time . This is great product and much cheaper than anything else for a 5% lidocaine strenth

It worked but for a very short period. Tucks and Preparation H worked better. I prefer Tucks

I figured I would buy this, and then, if I could not open it, I would just return it.However, this is non-returnable.Don’t waste your money!Unless, that is, you plan to use a two wrenches every time you want to open this darn thing!You could also cut open the bottom of the tube and decant this into a different container, but he wants to go through that hassle?
