Scotts 304-14S 14-Inch Economy Push Reel Lawn Mower with T-Style Handle and Heat-Treated Blades

I had two neighbors over sixty test it out for me, because I have disabilities...It performed beautifully and they used it in significant sun exposure, without difficulty. I finally used it today today and it was even great for me...Importantly though, when there is more brush in way of grass, like little twigs, it will jam. Maker could consider putting a square nook in neck in order to grip it while kneeling or sitting, but little twigs do jam it. You could pull it straight up to release twigs but some of us can't. Phenomenal product though. -G

it's a little noisey, but it cuts very good, I would recommend to raise the blade to the highest setting as I did, or it could cut your grass shorter then you want it. the price was good and it works very good. I like how when you're done mowing, u pull it and it goes easy and fast, the blade doesn't turn while pulling it. good buy for me when ur gas one won't start.

I refuse to use a mower with a motor, so this was an essential purchase. This mower only cuts when being pushed forward, so your personal technique determines whether that's a perk or a downside. I don't recall the brand of my previous reel mower (my ex left that behind when we moved back home from TX 12 years ago & there was no point buying anything less than a large riding mower/tractor until I moved again), but that mower could tackle my strong St. Augustine grass, which grows like a vine. I expected this mower to perform much better than that no-named mower since it's being used on a standard single blade type of grass, but it absolutely will not cut grass that is too long because the front safety bar bends it before the blades have the opportunity to cut it and the blades aren't as sharp as they could be (you can press your fingers down on any edge without hurting yourself at all, but I'm not recommending trying that!). It wasn't nearly as easy to assemble as the description said, I wasn't strong enough to do it alone. Height adjustment isn't really worth messing with, so it's still set at the mid setting that it shipped in. A weedwacker is absolutely essential if the area is overgrown from excess rain or going too long between mowings for other reasons. We thought I could use this to tackle the extra steep ditch on my mom's easement that she hasn't been able to cut with her riding lawnmower since her road was redone, but that won't happen until I can use a weedwacker first or spend a day cutting it all down with scissors. It does a fantastic job around the fruit and vegetable gardens since it doesn't shoot dead grass and seeds from weeds into the gardens like the riding lawnmower, a HUGE perk since I'm trying to grown strawberries from root crowns, but the highest cut setting is still under the ideal 2", so everywhere I use this to mow is noticibly shorter than the rest of the lawn. If you've never used a reel mower, you need to be aware that they all jam up. A tiny twig from a pine tree, some extra dense or damp grass, vine-type grass, that pesky thick weed - it's going to happen. It took me longer to figure out how to unjam this model, but it turned out to be rather easy. Just pluck the offending twig or grass buildup carefully from between the blades and the base and you're on your way. In this respect, it is a little harder than my previous reel mower. That mower cut whether being pushed forward or backward, so to clear a jam, most times I just needed to take a step backward and gently tap the mower on the ground to clear the blades. To be safe, it is best to find a tool to clear the blades when they jam, but since there is absolutely no motor powering this, it is a lot safer to be near the blades when not in motion than a motorized mower. You are the motor, so if you're not pushing it, those blades really aren't going to move more than a fraction of an inch when clearing a jam if they move at all. All in all I'm happy with this mower, but I would have done more research had I been the one to pick it out.

We've been having a hot as hell summer and I decided to get one of these manual mowers so that I could mow the lawn at 6 am when the temps are still resonable. I didn't expect much, my yard is a mess and I cleaned up none if it before mowing. It gets caught on sticks, but that's my fault for low effort. Other than that, this thing is a champ! My yard is also uneven and that hasn't been a problem. It cuts right through grass and most weeds, no problem. But the best part has been not having to hear my gas mower. It's so peaceful. I used to get noise warnings on my phone whenever I mowed with my gas mower. But with the manual mower I was able to go out and keep my headphones at a low volume. Even without headphones the mower makes a pleasant whirling noise. And it's kind of fun to use. And since this information always gets added: I'm a woman, it took me less than 3 minutes 28 seconds to put the mower together (I was listening to music). It's an intuitive assembly. I can lift it with one arm, carry it around, and move it easily. If I have to move it a long distance, I flip the handle to the other side and push the mower so the blades don't spin. Easy peasy. It's not difficult to push, my arms aren't tired. I have a 1/4 acre lawn.

Got this mower for a small section of my lawn that it fenced and won't fit a larger mower. This is light weight to carry and does a great job cutting grass.

First off, I had a terrible time assembling this. Ended up having to take it apart and re-do it. I watched a youtube video of how to correctly assemble. (The instructions included did not work for me.) I also had a hard time putting the e rings on (the last step). I have a battery-run electric mower, but it always runs out of power before I can finish mowing, and I cannot find another battery anywhere (and battery takes hours to recharge). So, I bought this reel mower just to finish the job after my other mower loses power. It works fine for what I use it for (finishing a job). Surprisingly fast/easy to push, and, unlike most reviewers, I didn't really have a problem with things getting caught up in it, thankfully. It doesn't cut AS well as my electric, but again, I use it for just a small portion of my yard. And my yard is pretty lumpy which is part of why it doesn't cut super evenly. I will say that it is very short. I'm 5'6" and felt like I was very hunched while pushing this. I can't imagine a tall person using this! I have only used this mower once, so I will update this review if anything changes.

No longer do I need to worry about a battery draining (weed eater) or gas use ( auto lawn mower). This thing is awesome and easy to use!! I'm 27, female, small build, and this makes the yardwork fun. I wish I got this before ever choosing a weedeater and other things I have. Only thing was the instructions were kinda annoying to understand even with the pictures. I dont know why it was frustrating but once I got the hang of it, it became easier. It just took too long for me to understand it. Perfect and not so heavy at all. I can carry it with one arm. Like I said ut makes lawnwork fun for me. I look forward to it alot now thanks to this push mower

What a terrible experience I've had with this mower. Once assembled I took out into the yard and upon pushing it, I realized the wheels continually locked up and the blades did not spin, the whole thing just slide across the grass. I called customer service and the gentleman told me that was normal, that I needed to take the mower and run it up and down my driveway to loosen everything up. I took his advice and walked it up and down my 120 driveway over a dozen or so times; however, as soon as I went back into the yard, it seized up again, over and over, wheels lock up and just slide over the grass and you can't cut anything. How frustrating when all I need it for is to cut two a small path between the road and my trees, and I can't even get that done. To add insult to injury, the rolling pin in the rear is held together by two plastic arms that also determine the height of the cut. The entire product is metal, but for some reason it was decided that plastic was a good idea; yeah, the rolling pin fell completely apart on my driveway because plastic bends and is forgiving; metal and plastic don't usually workout well together. Having not even cut more than 6-8 feet of grass when I've got about 200' to do, this now sits on the side of my garage as I ponder the waste of money I spent on this.

Great quality,Nice size 14"cut.Sturdy handles and the blades are so sharp.Large wheels.Slight downside is that it does not havea grass catcher.But for me that is not a problem.I looked at a lot of this type of lawnmower and im so glad i chose the Scotts reel mower.

Bin begeistert. Kein Akku, der geladen werden muss. Kein Kabel, über das man stolpern kann oder das man auslegen muss und eventuell überfährt. Und kein Benzin, das man kaufen müsste. Der Zusammenbau war mehr oder weniger einfach, habe aber trotzdem zur Sicherheit nochmal ein Youtube Video geschaut. Kleiner Tipp, die unteren beiden Schrauben am silbernen Griffteil nicht komplett festdrehen, sondern die Stangen erst an dem Teil mit den Messern befestigen. Dann festdrehen. Noch ein Tipp: Ein mini kleines bisschen Creme oben an den Griff, bevor die Schaumstoffhalterungen drauf kommen. Die bekommt man sonst nur sehr schwer drauf. Noch besser geht es mit Gartenhandschuhen mit Gummihandfläche. Der Rasenmäher ist sehr wertig und fühlt sich gut an. Wie lange die Schaumstoffgriffe halten werden wir sehen. Er mäht sehr gleichmäßig und sogar wenn der Boden uneben ist. Ob er auch bei sehr hohem Gras funktioniert weiß ich nicht, bezweifle ich aber. Stöcke bzw Stöckchen müssen vorher entfernt werden, sonst blockiert er. Der einzige Nachteil wäre, dass ich ihn trotzdem zu laut finde um Sonntags zu mähen. Aber das kann ich verschmerzen.

Fácil de armar, buena calidad en materiales. Recomiendo no meter mucha presión al manillar para que las hojas no se atasquen en el césped. La fuerza se ejerce hacia el frente procurando que las navajas giren libremente. Parece contraintuitivo pero mientras más suave el movimiento, más giran las hojas y por lo tanto se corta con mayor velocidad. Procuren limpiarla al terminar. Ideal para jardines pequeños. Espero dure bastante.
