Great looking set of plates!
I just ordered the “economy” set because I’ll only be using them for occasional home workouts, but I’m impressed with the quality nonetheless. They’re sturdy and feel well made. Anybody just adding these to their home fitness collection should be totally fine with the economy set. I also paid a little extra for the speckled ones, and that just adds a little something appearance-wise. They do have a fairly strong “new rubber” smell, and maybe I’m just weird, but I kind of like it—smells like new gym equipment. It looks like some other reviews have already addressed this, but these plates seem to have been oiled before being packaged, probably to keep the rubber coating smooth, so they do have a greasy feel; watch out for your clothes while you’re unboxing them. Looking forward to using these!

Great set of starter plates
These are a recent purchase, so my review is based on what came out of the box. I read all of the reviews about smell and oil - so maybe I was overprepared, but I am really pleased with what I received for the price I paid. Were they oily? Yes, but there is also a valid reason for it - and it was very easy to clean off. Do they smell? Yes. I think the lower weight (10s and 15s) were the worst, but again, I expected that and it wasn't as bad as I had read. Are they precise? Probably not, but they are budget. I have not weighed them, but they feel balanced on my barbell, so I take no issue with the fact that there might be some variance. Were they in perfect condition? Almost. One of the 45s had a small dent the size of a finger tip (nothing I feel I need to return over). One of the 10s had a little bit sharper of an edge from the molding (skimmed with a blade and that was remedied). They look great, and the color coded lettering is a fun touch. They all fit properly on the barbell. Once out of the box and bag, I washed with Murphy's Oil Soap, set them outside for the day to air, washed again when they came in. The smell was greatly diminished. I did one more day of this and the smell was almost entirely gone. I have also read that sprinkling baking soda and letting it sit - or spraying/washing with a water/vinegar mix will also help. I have seen many reviews regarding the 10's and 15s being flimsy and breaking easy. They are a 1 inch thick rubber plate - at this price point, structural integrity is probably a mute point, and can be solved by not using them solo. Overall - as a starter set, I am extremely happy with what I received. If that changes over time, then I will update and edit.

Couldn't be happier with this Black Friday deal!
Bottom Line Excellent economy bumper plates at an unreal price. Solid construction, secure inserts, predictable bounce, and colors that look great on the bar. Perfect for garage gyms and general strength training. Also, these are the type of bumpers that do not bounce even when dropped from overhead so you don't have to worry about chasing the barbell around. Coach's note: Never drop a bar from overhead with only one 10# plate on each end. You'll end up breaking your plates sooner than you would otherwise. Expect a light factory coating when new, this is normal for fresh bumpers and wipes off pretty easily. Spray with your standard household degreaser and wipe away, and you're good to go. At $200 with free shipping for a 260 lb set, this was one of the best bumper set values I’ve seen in years. Full Review As a former gym owner and a strength & conditioning coach for the last 20 years, I’ve handled just about every type of bumper plate out there, from high-end competition plates to bargain-basement imports. These CAP Economy Olympic Bumper Plates land squarely in the “done right” category. The rubber is dense and durable, the inserts are secure, and the plates sit flat and balanced on the bar. They’re not overly soft or spongy, and they don’t feel brittle or hollow like some budget bumpers can. For Olympic lifts, powerlifting work, and general training, they perform exactly as they should. Side note: The colors pop nicely, too. The blue and green look great on the black. If you’re new to buying bumper plates, one thing to know: they arrive with a slightly greasy film from the factory. This is completely normal and part of the finishing process. A quick wipe-down with a standard household degreaser takes care of it, and after a week or so of regular use, it disappears entirely. I picked up the 260 lb set during a Black Friday sale for $200 with free shipping. Ordered December 1st, delivered December 12th without issue. At that price point, it’s difficult to justify spending significantly more for comparable training. Very happy with this purchase. These plates will see plenty of work, starting now! It’s time to chase a 600 lb deadlift and a 500 lb squat.

Oily and smelly
Good product and weight is true, but some of my weights came scratched and chipped, and it was also super oily and even after wiping it down it still was kinda oily, has this annoying thick rubber smell and it doesn't go away, even after airing it out, although I did just get this yesterday so hopefully the smell will be fully gone after a week or so. Edit it's been about over a month since my last review and the plates dont smell anymore and it's not oily anymore

Strong smell and oilly but cleanable!
I got the CAP 260lb PRO set with tower and I love it for the most part. The weights came in smelling like a factory and cigarettes, but I was able to power hose them with some dawn dish soap and a micro fiber cloth while leaving it outside for a whole day. It for the job done for the most part. The weights still feel a bit oilly but each day it’s getting less and less as well as smelling less intense. The tower storage is amazing, 5/5 on that 100%. No smell, minimal oil, and very strong and sturdy. I give this a solid 4/5 stars, the smell and oil was slightly annoying.

Great value, buy them, air them, wash them, dry them, lift them. Simple
So, getting out of the way I have no experience with any other rubber bumper plates, I think these are great. For starters, since Amazon reviews aren't always clear, this review is for the 260 lb Economy - Speckled set. Getting to the elephant in the room, yes, they have an odor and are they slippery out of the package, but there are valid reasons for that and many other bumper plate brands and products are like this at first so it's not really a point of contention, just something that potential buyers need be aware of. So, they smell and are slippery. To solve that, first I opened the boxes, removed them from their plastic bags, and sat them in the garage for a few days with a fan blowing over them. Then, I washed each plate with Dawn and a sponge, one of those double-sided blue kitchen sponges in a utility sink (but you could do this in a tub or anywhere really). I washed each plate twice. Load the soft side of the sponge with Dawn and soap down each side of the plate and then switch to the scour side of the sponge and work the plate into a good lather all over. Get each side, the center hole, and the outer rim of the plate. Rinse and repeat the process. Then dry with a towel. You'll know you're good when after drying you leave a finger streak that disappears in a few seconds completely. If finger marks remain then there is still oil to be removed. Note: you should see the water/suds turning black/grey as you wash each plate and those suds clearing up on the second (or if need, third wash). So, set them out a few days under a fan in a well ventilated area then wash each one twice with Dawn to a good lather and towel dry. Now you'll be able to put them in your house without odor if that is where you plan to use them. I didn't weight every plate but a 45lb weighed 45.4lb on my home scale but the scale could easily be off and a sample size of one is useless, basic take away, the weights are close enough. Also, some people complain that the 10 and 15 lb are flimsy and they are but they also aren't designed with side loads in mind or to be used without the 25+ plates to help spread out the load, so be aware of that. Basically, don't leave the 10 or 15s on your barbell by themselves, especially in heat, for longer than your workout or they may flex and break. You can leave them on the bar with larger weights no problem, just not themselves. One last thing, while cleaning, don't scrub TOO hard with the scour side. You don't want to shed rubber or rub off the letters and numbers. Pound for pound tho, very happy with the set and are competitively priced to iron plates making this set an excellent set an excellent value (One last thing actually, I do find the speckling makes reading the numbers on the plates a big challenging as the speckling and numbers are the same color but it's not all that bad either, it's not like you're reading them a lot and they've color coded...and size coded, lol)

Great weight set
I’m really happy with this bumper plate set! They’ve been a fantastic addition to my home gym and are exactly what I needed to level up my lifting. The rubber coating is high quality and does a great job of absorbing impact, which is a lifesaver for my floors when I'm finishing a heavy set. The 2-inch steel inserts fit perfectly onto my Olympic bar with no awkward rattling or sliding. They feel very durable and well-made, like they’re built to last through years of daily use. It’s a solid, reliable set that looks professional and performs even better. If you’re looking for a dependable set of weights to round out your workout space, these are a great choice!

Affordable and Solid for a Starter Home Gym
I picked up a set of CAP bumper plates for my starter home gym, and overall, they’ve been a great choice—especially if you’re on a budget. These are probably the cheapest decent plates I could find that aren’t the "Signature Fitness" brand, which was a big selling point for me as I’m just getting my setup off the ground. For the price, they deliver everything I need to kickstart my home gym routine. Out of the box, I’ll be honest—they arrived pretty greasy and oily, which might turn some people off. It seems like they’re coated with some kind of protective film from the factory, and while it’s a bit of a hassle to wipe down, it didn’t bother me too much. A quick scrub with a rag and some elbow grease got them ready to go, and once that was done, they’ve been perfectly functional. I also noticed some of the plates had minor damage—like small nicks or scuffs—but nothing significant enough to warrant a return. You get what you pay for, and at this price point, a few cosmetic imperfections aren’t a dealbreaker for me. For a beginner like me, these plates are spot-on. They’re durable enough for standard lifts and drops (I’ve got them on horse stall mat setup), and the rubber coating keeps the noise and floor damage to a minimum. They’re not fancy or high-end, but they don’t need to be—at this price, you’re getting solid, no-frills bumper plates that work for deadlifts, squats, or whatever else you’re throwing at them. Weights are weights, and these do the job just fine. If you’re building a starter gym and don’t want to spend a fortune, CAP bumper plates are a fantastic option. Just be prepared for a little cleanup when they arrive and don’t expect perfection with the finish. For the cost and performance, I’d say they’re a win—perfect for anyone easing into home lifting without breaking the bank!

The value of these plates cannot be understated. New home strength training gym? Buy em.
I got the 260lb set, I believe, on a good deal. There's genuinely no reason to, as a home gym owner, get fancier plates than this; weight is weight, and if they're off by a few ounces here and there, that's not going to change anything about progression. The weights are consistent, good quality. They came with a coating of smelly oil, but I genuinely don't care about that because I just washed it down with soap and a microfiber cloth. They slide on smooth to olympic bars, and they feel comfortable to pick up. Weight seems consistent when I stepped on a scale with a plate, give or take a few ounces. They aren't Eleiko plates that are dialed in with scientific precision, but a 260lb set of these won't run you the price of a car. If you're training at home, put your money elsewhere and start lifting, these are more than good enough.

Good for the Price and Goal
For a home gym I think these are great. I got the economy 190lb set. They're no rogue bumper plates, but they're absolutely fine for my use. I have no plans on an IPF competition and I won't be doing cleans with them so I can't comment on how I think they will hold up. For normal power rack use these are great. Some of the rubber is nicked here and there. Some is definitely shipping, some is clearly manufacturing, nothing affects the plate. I measured each weight to see what "economy" would have for accuracy and I think I've landed on an explanation. I'm pretty sure they measure the weights and THEN coat them. 45s were 45.4 each 25s were 25.4 each 10s were 10.4 each They arrived covered in what seemed like a machining oil, not dripping or anything, but needs to be wiped off. Get your favourite dish soap and a sponge ready, or a good degreaser. Took me 10 minutes to clean them all and they feel great now. The smell was not bad like other reviews stated. I will update this review if something breaks/doesn't work/shows low quality in the future. First day, they're absolutely 5 stars.

Well built but printing has some issues
Got the 190 lb set a couple months back for my home gym and overall they're solid plates. The build quality seems really good, thick rubber, sturdy metal inserts, and they feel like they'll last a long time. Like everyone mentions, yeah they came oily and smelly out of the box. I wiped them down with dish soap and water twice then left them outside in the garage for a few days. The smell mostly went away and the oil cleaned off pretty easily so not a huge deal. They've held up well to being dropped during deadlifts and other lifts. No cracking or weird bouncing, just consistent performance. The fit on my Olympic bar is good with no wobbling around. My main complaint is the printing on some of the plates is incomplete in places. A few of the numbers and letters have areas which are partially faded or missing which looks kind of cheap. Doesn't affect function at all but when you're paying decent money for a set you'd expect better quality control on something basic like that. The color coding helps but still would be nice if the text was properly printed on all of them. For the price they're still a decent value compared to other bumper plates out there. They do the job well and seem durable. Just be prepared to clean them when they arrive and don't expect perfect printing. Would recommend overall if you need bumper plates for a home gym setup and don't mind minor cosmetic issues.

Their fine
As is. They seem good. As like all the other reviews they smell bad and are super oily. But the price is good. If anything changes I’ll update the review. I got the 260 pack.

High-Quality Olympic Plates – No Smell and Perfect Fit with Adjuster!
I’m really impressed with these Olympic weight plates! Unlike some plates that arrive with a strong chemical smell, mine had no odor at all, which was a huge plus. They feel solid, well-balanced, and the finish is excellent—very durable and professional-looking. The only adjustment I had to make was with the sleeve: my old 1980s setup was too big for the new plates, but once I purchased an adjuster sleeve, everything fit perfectly in the center. Beyond that, they work flawlessly and make lifting smooth and secure. Highly recommend these plates for anyone looking for quality and reliability in their home or commercial gym setup.
