I really like these. With so many similar products on the market it all comes down to ergonomics, and for my purposes – mainly functional testing of electrical appliances that need repair – this one nails it. The display is clear (viewing angle not massive, but OK), and the excellent backlight comes on automatically when you plug it in. It defaults to W and VA, which for me is ideal (so many units start on volts and need an extra button push). The eight modes get a bit tedious if you need to cycle round to, say, power factor, but all the display modes will be useful to some people. My one niggle is that while you can disable the beep, that setting isn’t sticky.

Really useful little device and very easy to use. Setup was straightforward and it gives plenty of information with the different display modes. Great for checking power usage around the house and seeing what appliances are actually using. Display is clear and easy to read, and it’s already helped give a better idea of electricity consumption. Good value and does exactly what it should.

It’s a great concept and clearly capable of giving useful information about power usage, but the setup process is more fiddly than it really needs to be. The buttons and menus take a bit of patience to figure out, and getting everything configured correctly isn’t as intuitive as you’d hope. Once it’s set up it does work, but the initial hassle was enough that it’s now mostly sitting ignored rather than being used regularly — which is a shame, because the idea behind it is genuinely useful. Decent device in principle, just let down slightly by usability. Probably better suited to someone who doesn’t mind spending a bit of time navigating settings menus.

this is great to use, do i need a bigger power supply for my pc now i've changed some components? well i dunno let's plug the pc into this and see if it's under 600watts... oooh, 370 watts under full load. guess i don't need a new power supply.

I’ve had 2 similar meters over a number of years but the display of the second one, never good, is now difficult to read so bought this. The display is nice and clear with the additional advantage of being back-lit, which my other ones were not. Disappointingly, it has NO BATTERY BACKUP. It never occurred to me to check, just assuming it would have, like my older ones. That means that if you want to record the power use of an item of equipment over time you must ensure that the power is never switched off. Without any mains power everything returns to 0. (SEE EDIT) However, would only have been a problem for me 2 or 3 times over the last 15 years or so. Accuracy is ok but the voltage is 2.1 to 2.2 Volts low, which will have a small, though for most purposes unimportant effect on the other parameters. My old power monitor and a professional quality multimeter read 2.2V higher and another less expensive multimeter reads 2.1V higher than this new power monitor. The instructions are poor for anyone who might be unfamiliar with monitors like this. At £12.88 the price is ok and comparable to other similar products. EDIT: Although initially it did revert to zero when disconnected, it later kept its memory. Not sure if there might be a built-in rechargeable battery that was originally flat or a non-volatile memory that was somehow defective but fixed itself, but whatever the explanation, it is no longer a problem even if disconnected for days.

We are loving abroad in Germany and brought along some 115v appliances. To power them, we got a couple of voltage transformers, which many told us to use sparingly due to their high consumption, especially when the transformer is idle. I wanted to see how they actually performed, not how others claimed they would. So, I got this. It reads voltage, watts, and kwh, and also times the load. This thing is pretty cool. Not only did it do what I wanted, but I could measure use over time. Power here is expensive, so I wanted to know if it would be less expensive to buy and run 240v appliances. For my case, I think the answer is "no", as the appliances are used for a few minutes a day and the meter verified that the transformer only adds about 26 watts to the usage and pulls the same 26 watts with no load. I expect it would get worse as it warmed up, but that's not likely here and we can shut ours off when not in use. That's another thing we were warned of, that the transformer would pull power even switched off. In our case, at least, that is untrue. Ours pull 0 watts turned off. Back to the meter. It's simple to use, and tells me the information that I want to know. The display is simple, logical, back-lit when plugged in to a powered outlet. It works great. Delivery was fast and it was packaged well.

Ich habe dieses Strommessgerät gekauft, um meine Nous A1T Smart Steckdosen zu kalibieren. Die Bedienung ist wirklich einfach und die Werte können mit wenigen Tastendrücken abgelesen werden. Wichtig bei der Kalibierung ist, jedesmal das Gerät zurückzusetzen, da sonst ggf. falsche Werte ermittelt werden. Für das Zurücksetzen sind zwei Stifte dabei, die den Reset-Knopf betätigen können. Für das Kalibieren habe ich einen Heizlüfter mit zwei Stufen (1kW und 2kW) benutzt und die Werte stimmen zu fast 100% überein. Das Strommessgerät selbst ist wirklich gut zu handhaben und das mitgelieferte Faltblatt (Handbuch) ist sehr verständlich geschrieben. Es kann auch als Dauermessgerät verwendet werden, um über einen längeren Zeitraum die Leistungsaufnahme zu messen. Ich selbst, habe diese Funktion bisher noch nicht benötigt. Das Strommessgerät selbst fühlt sich wertig an und übertrifft das erwartete. Für den Preis, eine klare Kaufempfehlung. Den Stern Abzug gibt es wegen den Reset-Stiften. Es gibt keine Halterung, in denen man diese hineinstecken kann. Diese liegen dann quasi auf dem Gerät und fallen, wenn man nicht dran denkt, immer herunter.
