Sew Your Own Animal Dolls: 25 creative dolls to make and give

I was very much looking forward to receiving this new book.Lovely designs and well explained patterns.But my biggest disappointment is that the patterns have to be enlarged before you can start to sew.Being that they need to be enlarged by 200% i will need to have them done at a printers which will cost time and money.I find this very disappointing after buying the book then having to pay out again.I buy lots of craft books which are able to print patterns correct size,so it can be done.Like Tilda and Luna Lapin.

This is such a fabulous book and I can highly recommend if you enjoy creating animals/dolls. The book is split into sections:In the treesGrass & desertWoodland creaturesIce and snowThe book goes into detail around the different types of materials you will need and useful equipment. It also explains different hand stitches and how to give character with the eyes. Next, the book takes you through how to make the basic doll and then how to make the clothes.There are 25 characters to make altogether so you are spoilt for choice and each character has its own pages where Louise explains what materials are required and other instructions and tips for that particular animal. It really does have a lot of detail.So, a few reviews have mentioned the pattern sizes. The book does not have full size patterns but don’t let this put you off, if you go to the authors Facebook Page (Lou Loves This) or her Instagram you will find a link to the full size templates which you can easily print off.Another thing I would say is to buy the best quality felt you can afford. I started off with some cheap felt and really noticed that it stretches too easily. In fact, I got in touch with Louise, who was super helpful, to ask for her advice and I now have some lovely felt on order and I can’t wait to get started again! I might even buy her other book “Sew Your Own Dolls”

bought this book to make the animals when reading found everything had to be enlarged I tried on my home printer wasted so much paper had to take it to a copy shop and pay out another £6.00 not happy why cant they say upfront they have to be enlarged would not recommend

I loved the book however it says in description that the patterns are full size which is not accurate the patterns have been reduced to fit the book and have to be enlarged by 200% which is great if you have a printer that enlarges not so great if like me you don’t.

The book in itself is wonderful and well presented. However, the measurements for some of the projects isn't easily obtainable. The book at the end gives websites to assist in this which I discovered much later and I wished it had mentioned it at the start. Based on the prices given it will be costly to build the designs unless you already have materials. So please be warned.

A great book it is exactly what I wanted and was perfectly described. There were no problems so no contact made I recommend this trader
