I ordered this glucose monitor as I started TPN, which is nutrition delivered via an IV line. Doctor’s orders were test every six hours. I ordered this kit as it is an incredible value and it had incredible reviews. I see why the reviews were so high- it’s a solid monitor for the money and comes with everything you need to monitor your levels. The kit comes with two packs of test strips, lancets, lancing device, and the monitor itself. It also comes with a super convenient carrying case that holds everything for on the go! I will admit, the clarity of instructions could be improved. There is a lot of info to take in. There are several symbols etc that you need to memorize. Aside from that, this monitor is incredibly accurate. I haven’t had a single inaccurate reading. Test strips are affordable and offer a 60-second re-sampling window in the event you don’t get enough blood onto the test strip on the first go. The lancing device comes with the kit and it includes a small supply of lancets. The lancing device has 5 depth settings and is incredibly easy to use. The device works with most lancets available on Amazon. The device is incredibly easy to use and nearly painless. I set the depth at 4 personally. I find I’m able to get the proper amount of blood without having to restick another finger. Given I recently purchased this, I cannot speak to battery life. However, the device is incredibly easy to read and the device offers Bluetooth sync with the Contour app for iPhone. It keeps all your readings in sync for ease of access and to easily share with your care team. It also syncs with Apple Health. This kit is an incredible value for the money. The test strips are reliable and affordable. I’d strongly recommend this kit to those needing to monitor their levels with confidence and accuracy. My advice is to add more test strips and a box of lancets to your order as the kit includes a small supply of lancets. It’s always good to have plenty on hand in the event you need to frequently check levels. Incredible value for the money!

Replaces 2004 version of this device. There are several significant operating changes due to HIV and COVID 19. Sample drawing is less painful due to pin prick vs lancet injury. The meter is vastly more competent in that it has vastly more options to personalize and store the test results. Bluetooth and smart device connectivity, and the app provide more useable information to me. The learning curve was moderate, and took two hours to master. The test results are consistent with my older device. It is very affordable. I am pre diabetic and am making lifestyle changes to avoid CKD and type 2 diabetes.

This glucose monitor was recommended to me by my vet for my diabetic cat to monitor his glucose at home, to avoid the frequent costly vet visits to check in office. I jumped into with no knowledge of diabetes or monitoring glucose. While there was a learning curve to getting enough blood on the test strips, due to my lack of experience and difficulty with my cat - this kit was very easy to use and straight forward. As someone with no experience, I was able to quickly get the hang of glucose testing. This kit came with everything I needed to get started at a very reasonable price. The lancing device is very easy to use and the instructions are very thorough. I was able to purchase generic brand lancets once I used all of the included lancets. This kit was a lifesaver and allowed us to manage and track my cat's glucose.

I’ve used a different popular brand of meter for years. Back in the day my doctor would give me boxes with new meters. The strips got so expensive. Recently I got a a box of bad strips that cost over $50. I needed something more reasonably priced. So I asked grok AI to pull information from the internet and recommend a brand. It came up with 2. This meter was one of them. It told me more than once that this one was more accurate than the brand I had. It certainly has more reasonably priced strips. I got this Contour meter quickly and I’ve tried it. The only negative about it are the tiny little dates and times at the top that are hard to read. I needed a code to put in to connect it to the app and I had to so much trouble seeing them that I had to have someone look at it and read them to me, but once it was connected to the app, the meter beeps and works quickly, showing a color near the strip port to show highs and lows. I downloaded the app to my smart phone and the meter reading show up immediately. It gives you a great overall feeling of where your blood sugars have been during the day. The reasonable price of the strips makes it possible to take your blood glucose readings more often I did this subscribe and save for the strips so that they are just delivered to me as I need them. So far, it has been a good experience and I’m not sorry that I changed brands after 15 years.

Just bought a second Contour Next for travel when I’m away from home for a long period of time. I bought Contour Next the first time in March. This is almost July and without issues with the battery or anything else. I love that I can buy the entire kit with all accessories included for a reasonable price. Though the test strips are a bit more expensive, there are economical prices offered to make them more affordable. Yes, I have tried several other glucose monitors and like Contour Next Gen best of all. Highly recommend!

I have True Metrix blood glucose monitoring kit from several years ago. I was starting to wonder if it was accurate. The test strips are over 3.5 years old. My stomach usually tells me what my blood sugar is, how I feel, I can feel low blood sugar. Asked a few and AI, do these meters wear out, do the strips wear out? Everyone and everything indicates Yes, oh damn, all this time I thought my blood sugar was testing to high for what I was eating. So I freaked out and bought this test kit since it is widely held to be the most accurate. Ate a couple tacos, big deal right? I tested on my old meter with the very outdated old strips, also tested on this new meter. My old True Metrix meter showed 175 and this new meter with strips showed 162. Ok, so the old meter was a bit off, but certainly not way off and not enough to send me to the hospital or worse make me buy a new meter and strips for $50. The mismatch between the readings is not that important to me. They are not way off. The old o true Metrix was only off by around what 5% or so, big deal. My old tuff was kept probably like most people, in there house, temperature controlled, not in the sun and blah blah blah, probably the same way most everybody keeps their meter and strips. It’s ok, I have a new meter, I feel a little better because I feel it is more accurate, but I am still out basically $50 for no legit reason. Now I can test twice every time until the strips are all gone, like some kind of science project. Update - Three hours later.. I have nothing better to do now other than obsess over the new Contour Next Gen meter vs my sadly old True Metrix meter with 3.5 year passed expiration date strips. The two tacos I ate finally met their fate and turned into stored energy, my blood glucose going from 175 to 125, and my new Contour Next Gen meter giving me a more physiologically satisfying 118 reading. I can feel the new addition of fat cells, I must have a couple more now. I guess I was expecting some kind of negligible difference in the readings between the two meters given the knowledge that I dug up abroad, online and AI. I was bamboozled into buying a new meter. I mean really, 125 or 118, who cares. I should have taken my $50 and bought some cherry pie or something, it would have been far more satisfying. 😂 One Day Later… I am in the rabbit hole now. I need to buy control solution for both meters. The control solution comes in three levels. You have to get the correct brand for the correct meter, because of formulation differences, from what AI says anyway. Now this gets more expensive, I am going to buy the level 2 control solution for both meters, this will tell me which one is more accurate. My new meter, this one, with new strips or my old True Metrix meter with 3.5 year expired strips. I imagine the new one is more accurate, but I can’t stand it and have to find out. I will report back in a couple days and let you know. I had one of those blood glucose meters that the doctor prescribed and you stick in your arm and scan with your cell phone. I went nuts, totally neurotic. I had to stop using it because of the obsession of eating something and watching your glucose levels every 15 minutes. I am glad I got rid of it because it was doing more harm than good to me. Now for the meter debacle.
