A great option for those without a combox
I had been using the ones that plug into the aux jack for a long time but the quality was never really there because the aux jack isnt good and you didnt get any interaction. This one goes in and is programmed like a CD changer (you need an ODBC cable and software off the internet to enable the CD changer) so once you hook it up it works with the radio/wheel controls. Its great. It auto starts/stops the music on my phone, reads the song title on the radio and allows you to skip or rewind songs using the steering wheels. Basically it behaves just as if the songs on your phone were a CD in the dash.I cant review the phone functionality as my car has that built in and I use that instead, I used the dip switches to make this an audio only device. For audio quality its one of the reasons it gets a 4 instead of a 5. Its good, pretty good, but it doesn't support any of the higher bitrate codecs. Id gladly pay a bit more to cover the licensing fee for aptx or something like that to get a more CD quality audio. The build quality of the device isnt premium, not that its going to fall apart. Its just not setup in a way where I would want it visible in a BMW. So I hid it behind the radio . If you wanted to use the USB port or SD card you might want to hide it in the glove box. Also regarding that SD card port. The thing doesnt stick with the last audio source, it goes with the "first available" So if you put an SD card in it then it defaults to that every time and you have to switch to bluetooth, which is annoying. So I skipped an SD card as a backup option.

Dip switch is used for different cars.
One of the best I bought, easy to install, and very compatible.. the dip switch was a mystery until I contact the seller, they were very helpful in letting me know that it's for use to make the device compatible with different cars, just keep trying the switches on/off until it works on your car.

Used this item in my 2005 Mercedes SL 500, plug and play.
Mercedes 6 dISC CD REPLACEMENT. Remove the 6 disc CD player, plug the fiber optic connection into the Back of the control box. Power from the CDC goes into the box. Pairs instantly to I-Phones, just look for name in the Bluetooth list.Micro SD up to 32 gig will play whatever you put on it as long as no more than 6 Folders are used. No limit on tunes in the folders. Mini Pin to any media player if you want it. Make and receive phone calls with steering wheel controls.
