Mattel Jurassic World Hammond Collection Scutosaurus Dinosaur Figure

The Hammond Collection is Mattel's effort to make super-detailed, highly articulated, 1:18-scale prehistoric reptiles for their Jurassic Park / Jurassic World lines. And this unassuming little Permian pareiasaur, Scutosaurus, is one of the surprise stars of the line. Without having to adhere to a movie art department's "vision" of what they think an extinct reptile should look like for maximum silver-screen impact, Mattel's team have made a nice, believable, pretty darned accurate Scutosaurus toy. Really, the ONLY complaint I have of this toy is that I wish it had articulated ankles for even better posing. It's so good, it has become very popular among YouTube palaeontology and dinosaur-toy enthusiasts. I don't say this lightly, but I would love to see Mattel release this mould in different colour schemes, reflecting the animal's previous rare and cancelled releases. This one is already in the somewhat rare 1997 Wal-Mart "Dino-Tracker Adventure Set" colour scheme, and some paint-jobs reflecting the even rarer 2020 "Jurassic World" Savage Strike version and the unreleased 1994 Kenner Series II "Plateface" version would be most welcome. And then, if they'd like to do Hammond Collection versions of Ornithosuchus and Estemmenosuchus, as well . . . . [HEAVY HINT, MATTEL!] On the whole, an excellent and rather cute little prehistoric reptile toy.

Review: Hammond Collection Scutosaurus – The OG Tank from the Permian! Long before raptors were clever girls, Scutosaurus was stomping through the Permian era—back when Earth was basically one giant desert and dinosaurs weren’t even a thing yet. This figure does the legend justice: thick armor plating, detailed texture, and articulation that brings this prehistoric powerhouse to life. It’s like a walking tank with the chill attitude of a giant desert tortoise. A bold pick for the Hammond Collection, and a win for paleo fans who love the deep cuts. Finally, some love for the pre-dino herbivores. Verdict:Tough, unique, and Permian-perfect. Lovely packaging, and well presented. A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.

Perfect, exactly as advertised

I bought the used option and while the package was pretty torn apart the figure is perfect condition. It's really a great figure, so cute looking and a pretty unique choice. There are very few Scutosaurus toys out there and they are hard to get your hands on.

Was unsure if the son would like this one as we've never seen anything like it... turns out he loves it! It's not massive but is very detailed and tactile, the glass eyes are really fab. The box condition on arrival was a disgrace! It looked like it had been kicked all the way here from the Mattel factory. As it's meant to be a collectors item I'm not at overly impressed by that... But the son loves the little, freaky dinosaur that was inside the smashed up box so that's what matters really. (The amazon packaging was fine.)

Looks good but for the price it’s really small. Can’t send it back because it’s part of a birthday present, otherwise I might have returned it.

More articulated than I thought. It looks good next to the original Kenner.

Llegó en perfecto estado. El dinosaurio tiene muchas articulaciones y parece de buena calidad. Lo he comprado en los Prime Days así que no puedo quejarme tampoco del precio. Sí debo admitir que es más pequeño de lo que imaginaba.

Kid loved it. the attention in the little details on these toys are really well done.

Uno dei migliori della linea hammond. -PACKAGING Come ormai la Mattel ci ha abituati con la linea Hammond collection la confezione è anche in questo caso ben fatta e curata in ogni dettaglio riportando il logo Hammond,il nome del dinosauro,una grossa finestra dove intravedere il modellino,il logo mattel,l’età di riferimento del prodotto e sul retro alcune pose che può prendere il modellino e i dettagli che lo rendono appetibile a un collezionista. -UNBOXING aprendo la confezione ci ritroveremo il dinosauro e la piccola coda da innestare a pressione. -DETTAGLI Devo dire che nel mio ordine di migliori modellini prodotti fin ora dalla Mattel per la linea Hammond collection questo SCUTOSAURUS è tra le mie preferite. Bello lo sculpt ricco di dettagli come la squamatura delle pelle,la dentatura e l’interno della bocca. Per quanto riguarda i colori devo dire che sono dei colori ben realizzati peccato che manca colore sugli artigli delle zampe. Un altro dettaglio che amo è la presenta degli occhi in vetro che rendono la pupilla viva 🔝. -ARTICOLAZIONI La linea Hammond collection della Mattel si differenzia dalle altre linee dedicate ai dinosauri della saga Jurassic anche per la presenza di tante articolazioni che permettono al modellino di potersi posizionare in varie pose sia per esporlo o per poterlo inserire all’interno di un diorama. -CONCLUSIONE Devo dire che questo dinosauro della linea Hammond collection prodotta dalla Mattel mi è davvero piaciuto molto. Ricco di dettagli,ben realizzato adatto sia a un pubblico di piccoli amanti del mondo dei dinosauri che ai collezionisti come me. Non vi nego che questo è tra i miei preferiti della linea Hammond e lo consiglio sia come idea regalo che come acquisto personale per poter ampliare la propria collezione di dinosauri a brand Jurassic.
