In addition to being an antioxidant, it's also a FAAH inhibitor and a MAO-B inhibitor, and it is a diuretic. It interferes with a lot of medications, especially psychotropic medications, and can thus cause severe and potentially dangerous reactions. This compound is still being studied so a lot of the relevant information on it is not widely known or easily accessible. Be careful because even your doctor may not know of an interaction it may cause! Great quality product at an excellent price, just not safe for everyone! Oh, and for anyone wondering about the "Trans" part, trans pterostilbene is the biologically active one that is often just called "pterostilbene"; cis pterostilbene is not useful or commonly encountered outside of a laboratory.

I was going to order another bottle of this but saw a reveiw that said it tasted like salt so I opened a capsule and tasted it myself. I'm not sure what other brands of Pterostibene taste like but this brand did NOT taste like "pure salt" as a previous reviewer stated. There may have been a very slight taste of salt but by no means "pure salt". Since I have no way to analyze the ingredients, I'm going to trust the manufacturer and order another bottle, since this appears to be the best value on Amazon. I may order another brand later and try a taste test between the brands at which time i will upgrade my review. I take a number of supplements to activate some of the longevity pathways (sirtuens, ampk, nrfp, etc.) so I really can't tell if one supplement is more effective than another (except for one). But according to the literature this is as effective and maybe more effective than resveratrol, in some respects, as a sirtuen activator.

Delivery great and excellent product

It's hard to tell how well this product is working because it's a part of a large stack of daily supplements that I take. I will continue to use it in the future because of its purported anti-aging benefits. It seems to be the best value for what you get when compared to others.

I use this product as a substitute for resveratrol, because resveratrol gives me side effects.

I'm thrilled to have an antioxidant so much more powerful than blueberries. I keep them on the table to take with lunch. They are fairly small and easy to swallow.

A lot of pterostilbene products contain only 50mg or less of trans-pterostilbene per capsule. This HMS brand contains 200mg at a great price. A number of years ago 50mg was thought to be a large dose but I see that many studies of it now use in the range of 150 - 300mg. Of pterostilbene's many benefits, one worth remember in these days of Coronavirus is that it provides serious immune protection. The Linus Pauling Institute at Oregon State University found it and resveratrol to be the most powerful of the things they tested. And it worked even better in combination with vitamin D I believe.

I like the fact that this product has the highest dose per capsule at the lowest cost of most other brands. I am 72 and have Parkinson's Disease and have been taking resveratrol to support neurological function which was helping me with motor control and antioxidant activity, also cognitive function. When I discovered pterostilbene has better bioavailability I started taking this product. I have been using it for 3 and a half months and I have not had any reduction of the support that I was getting from the resveratrol but other than a little better feeling of well being it is difficult to evaluate if I am getting greater benefit otherwise. If I do notice any positive change I will update this review.
