While the world goes gaga with social media, Ian explains why email is still a vital marketing weapon
The level of sophistication of the strategies in this book are cunningly disguised by Ian's easy to read and conversational tone. With plenty of examples, this is a great introductory guide to the hows and whys of email marketing. If you are looking to try email marketing but not sure where to start, this is for you. And if you have campaigns live already you will certainly find ideas to test. One thing - Ian doesn't review technical options, like which email service provider to choose- but these are the details that change week by week and you can sort this out easily when you know what you are trying to achieve. Whereas these email strategies are timeless and, frankly, largely transferable to all sorts of customer service and direct marketing campaigns. Disclosure: I consult to companies on email marketing, and I found this extremely good reading. Correction - I wrote this review in a fit of enthusiasm before I read the last chapter, where Ian does, in fact, do a good review of technology and where to start. So there you go... 5 Stars.

So nice to have a highly informative book without all the "pitchy-ness" that's so prevalent in marketing
I'm an experienced marketing consultant and have read many books over the years. I'm regularly frustrated and annoyed by all the garbage that's out there. Seems like everyone is an expert these days. There are so many so called "experts" that simply regurgitate garbage they read on a bathroom wall (or on their iPad while in the bathroom!). Not so with Ian. His book is refreshingly insightful. Whether you have been around the block a few times or are just getting started in business or marketing, you will get great information from this book. Ian packs years of personal experience and blends it with wisdom from a small group of people that KNOW email marketing. This is a rare book that I read cover to cover and will keep on my book shelf (or my virtual Kindle bookshelf) for continual re-reading and reference. I will also have clients read this so I won't have to spend hours convincing them they need to do email marketing. Ian will do it for me. :) It's a good read. With a review like this I should have an affiliate link or something eh?!! (I don't). Get the book, I think you'll be pleasantly pleased like I was. I'm even redoing my email marketing from some of the insights and ideas!

One of my favorite books on Email marketing.
I learned a lot from this book. Ian covers the core things you need to succeed in Email marketing. It's well written and he's obviously done his homework. He covers the right way to get subscribers and I also learned some helpful tips in the chapter on effective ways to get them to open your emails. I recommend this book.

I can't say enough about this book, 5 stars plus 10
Email Persuasion Is easily the best training I've seen on email marketing. There are courses out there that cost hundreds to thousands of dollars and still don't compare to this powerful book. Before reading Email Persuasion, I struggled with confusion, not know where to start. List building seemed overwhelming to me. I just kept saying to myself that I needed to build a list, but had no idea how to go about it.I continued to put it off and then reached the point where I pretty much gave up on it.Then while doing some research on another topic, Amazon showed Email Persuasion as a book I might also like. For $3.99 I decided to buy it. I was blown away!I am not one to give reviews in general. I think I've done maybe six over the course of 2 years buying books since I got my Kindle. So for me to write about this is a big deal to me. This is what you'll get with this book, from the notes I took while reading it; yeah, I took notes, I never do that:* Building a persona for your ideal customer/client. Ian explains a step by step process that makes getting into the thoughts and motivations of who you're trying to reach a breeze. He has you create a 4 part outline covering the facts, lifestyle, goals and motivations and the internal identity of your ideal customer/client. You'll have them feeling like you really know and understand them, because you actually do.* Maximizing the perceived value your clients will experience, by creating an attractive incentive to address their problems and goals.* Reducing friction, risk and hassle for your subscribers, by making it easier to opt in to your list and assuring them with professionalism and social proof; guaranteeing them that you will never abuse their information they've entrusted to you.* The mechanics of structuring a well-crafted email sequence that assures it will get in to their inbox and be opened, read and acted upon, by deeply engaging your future client.* How to set up an auto-responder program and all of the other technical requirements that go along with running an email campaign.* There's also a huge bonus that I found to be worth at least several hundred dollars, by itself. You get access to Ian's private Email Persuasion FaceBook Group, where you can discuss topics and work out issues you've had relating to email marketing. You also get access to several tutorial videos that go over the topics from the book. Make sure you opt in to Ian's email list. I did and I'm getting emails regularly, giving advice I can't get anywhere else, for my email campaigns.I'm just so glad I decided to act on that impulse offer to take a look at this eBook. You need to pick up a copy and join the private FaceBook group. See you there.Scott

Email marketing 101
A bit of this and that. Good book to read if you are just getting into email marketing. Very little about persuasion. Easy reading for an hour.

The Definitive Email Marketing Road-map!
At last an email marketing road map! This book teaches us to come down out of our ivory towers, stop obsessing about what we want to sell and instead engage with the real people we need to be reaching. It crunches the numbers, and gives clear, step-by-step instructions on how to create and implement an effective email marketing strategy. Ian`s approach is common-sense and free of jargon, making it accessible to beginners as well as die-hard professionals. Like all good strategies, it starts with where we really are, and where our clients/audience really are, and is goal-focused. There are no get-rich-quick promises and no cliches here, just solid advice on how to gain a personal audience and an effective, growing marketing platform.

Everything I needed to know about email marketing
I purchased Ian's book hoping to brush up on my email marketing efforts and I got WAY more than I bargained for.Personally, I dislike business books that are all theory and low on tangible insights, but Ian made sure to overdeliver not just on theory but, in the actual application of everything he discuses.I'm currently in the process of going through it a second time with pen and paper in hand in order to pluck out the juiciest parts to implement in my business going forward.Great read if you're looking for a solid overview of email marketing and need to know exactly what you should be implementing going forward.

One of the most engaging UK business people I know
I first came across Ian Brodie a few years ago when I was referred to one of his blog posts from a popular business forum that I was part of. After reading his site for an hour or so, I realised that he really did 'know his onions' and I immediately subscribed to hear more information from him...via email (so yes, it does work!)I am a marketing professional myself and I run a small digital agency based on the South Coast of England. Over the last 2.5 years Ian has sent me all sorts of emails relating to different marketing ideas and strategies. I've enjoyed reading them and watching the videos that he produces on a regular basis. I like to listen to other marketers in the industry as I feel it is extremely important to keep up-to-date with new ideas, but also to get positive reinforcement for your own.Ian's book about Email Marketing was something that immediately captured my attention as it's a method I used myself when I first started out in business, to try to generate new business. The one thing he does differently and goes into great detail to emphasise is that this is something you should grow and nurture over time. I very much enjoyed reading about his methods for measuring the effectiveness of Email Marketing campaigns in Chapter 9, which actually taught me a few things that I could do differently and save myself time. Anything that can save me time and make my life (and my client's lives!) easier, is something that I'm very keen to learn. This book is an excellent tool to add to your marketing efforts, whether you're an existing marketer or whether you're a small business owner who is looking at how you can use the power of Email Marketing to help your business to grow. I feel that Ian caters for both parties with his book, never feeling condescending, always keeping a great sense of humour and just the right level of professionalism. I've found the book to be very motivating and it has certainly pushed me into revising the way I use Email Marketing currently.I was lucky enough to speak to Ian on the phone last week, regarding a query I had about re-branding what I do personally next year. He was polite, attentive yet very humbling to talk with and it felt like he genuinely cared about helping me. Reading his book this week gave me the exact same feeling. I highly recommend the book to anyone who needs a helping hand or a new idea for their marketing arsenal. I hope that you will enjoy the same feeling that I had and that it will drive you forward and help you to grow your own business.
