Nice Knives
I have been using these knives in my kitchen for a few days and I really like them. The shorter knife is a bird beak knife. I hadn’t even heard of that term until I ordered these. It is nice for paring vegetables. I used it to peel a few potatoes and a cucumber. It is different than what I am used to, but it is pretty sharp. My old paring knife is an Old Hickory knife that I have had for over 40 years. My family members know not to touch it. It is steel and will rust, if left wet. This Martha Stewart Birds Beak knife is made of China stainless steel. That is stamped on the side of each of these knives near the handle. The tomato knife slices through tomatoes, easily. I canned tomatoes, today, and use this knife to dice each of the tomatoes for salsa. I used the forked end o remove the stems and it was easier than a regular serrated knife. I also used it to cut the ends off of some ears of corn and then cut the corn off the cob. These knives are heavyweight. They each have three rivets in the handles. These knives are supposed to be hand washed, only, but today I ran them through the dishwasher and then forgot they were in it, for several hours. They showed no signs of rusting and the handle looked the same as before being washed. I won’t dish wash them on a regular basis, because I want them to have the best care for a long life. These are nice knives and I look forward to retiring my Old Hickory.

Quality knives for the price
I use Rada cutlery that I got here on Amazon for the most part, which is to say that I have quality knives in my kitchen but not knives that cost a gazillion dollars. These Martha Stewart feel relatively heavy. They cut fine, and I like the feel of the handles. They aren't amazing, but they're well worth the price and have been a good addition to my set. I like how they come packaged as well and think this would make a nice gift set.

Great Quality Pair of Knives
These knives are quite solid feeling, sharp and work pretty well in what tasks they were designed to do. The tomato knife is sharp and easy to hold in the hands, making it easy to slice through tomatoes to the desired thickness that one would like. While the other knife, a bird beak knife, is also quite sharp and is best for cutting through fruits, such as apples, and trimming fat off of meats. The knife that I seem to use more often is the bird beak and that's only because I tend need it for trimming off excess fat on meats that I buy from the store, which is especially true on pork shoulder when I make pozole. The tomato knife is also handy to have, but I don't use it as much as I would like to and that's mainly due to me not having tomatoes to slice/cut in the first place. Overall, the quality of these knives is good, they both work as they are intended too, or at least for what task they were designed for.

A Pair Of High Quality Martha Stewart Kitchen Knives
As the meal preparer of the house, I rely on knives virtually every day. It is important to me to prepare the meal quickly and safely. Using a dull knife is dangerous and wastes time. When I saw this set of 2 Carverton Martha Stewart stainless knives I knew I needed to add them to my knife block. This set comes with a bird's beak and a tomato knife. The serrated tomato knife is one I have never had before, but has already become my favorite. I am able to slice juicy fruits and tomatoes easily without destroying the rest of the fruit. Plus I am finding myself using it for almost all fruits and veggies. The sharpness and the fact that it is serrated allows full good looking tomato slices as if they were being sliced on a professional slicer. The bird's beak knife is a little more limited in what it is for, but is still valuable. I have used it to devein shrimp, as well as coring strawberries, and for various other things. These knives are strong, sharp, and professional looking. The only drawback is that they are handwash only and are not safe for the dishwasher. Overall, a great pair of knives. Good budget specialty knives
Our daily knives are Wüsthof Trident Classic, but we didn't have a tomato knife. The Wüsthof version is quite expensive and a tomato knife is not something we use frequently, so we searched for a budget alternative. This Martha Stewart set seemed to fit our requirements and included a bird beak knife, which we also do not have. The main attractive feature for us was the full tang stainless steel blade construction, which is important. A full tang gives the knife a nice, balanced feel and (in our experience) tend to last much longer than partial tang designs that have a small steel insert into a handle. While these don't have quite the same heft as our Wüsthof knives, I think the medium-ish weight/hand feel is perfectly acceptable for the price point. These knives are easy to use and I'm sure will last a few years. When they finally dull to the point that they no longer function well, it is probably easier to just buy new ones rather than paying for professional sharpening. Don't put these knives in the dishwasher per the manufacturer - hand wash only! (and honestly, that will make any knife last longer).

Dull and unusable
The tomato knife is extremely dull and won’t even break the skin of a tomato, much less cut it. And since this is a serrated knife, it isn’t that easy to sharpen, so its pretty much garbage. The bird beak paring knife seems to do okay after spending a bit of time honing the blade to a razor’s edge. Still not as good as my 1960’s German made Wingen Solingen paring knife, as these knives are made with low quality stainless steel, where my Wingen Solingens are made form high quality carbon steel. Sad that good commercial knife makers are hard to find anymore. But this set does sell for less than $20, so quality isn’t to be expected anyway.

Sharp effective knives - especially the beak one
I’m always looking for sharp knives for carving, slicing and dicing. I found these knives to be quite sharp and effective – especially the beak knife. The beak knife is amazing – offering precise cutting that allows me to slice layers – as thin or thick as I want – without affecting the rest of the tomato, cheese block or other item that I’m slicing. Other knives I’ve tried – will often cause the vegetable to collapse a bit if you try to slice a thin layer. This knife cuts it perfectly. The other one - -the “tomato knife” – isn’t great for slicing tomatoes. But it’s good for cutting bread , cheese and other items. The handles on both knives are small – but comfortable. Overall, I would recommend this set – especially the beak knife.
