it is 6- 8 inches tall and weighs between 5-7lbs

I purchased a 4-pack of GE nightlight bulbs. The bulbs are a size E12, which is the base size.

How many square feet does one handle and what size do I need

I’m unsure of square footage, but you can turn this up quite bright. I would say it would be sufficient to light a living room if you wanted (as a night light, not a replacement for regular light).
