The Magic School Bus and the Climate Challenge

My four year old loves these Magic School Bus books! This is one of my favorites to read to him. This series tells stories about a fictional class going on wild field trips with their science enthusiast teacher to learn more about various topics. This book explore the science behind climate change. I really like the way this series combines fiction (and a plot!) with the delivery of scientific concepts, and my four year old does too. There is text on several levels (a main story along with extra information on the margins). I like that we can read the main plot now to a four year old and that there will be more concepts and information for him to access as he gets older. This book presents the science behind climate change in a way that my preschooler can understand (and to be honest, it helped my own understanding as well). There are some great tips for children about what they can do to prevent climate change and my preschooler has taken that really seriously! It is great to see him thinking about what he can do for the planet and feeling empowered to help. I would recommend this for ages 4-8.

I have used these books in my classroom for years as well as with my own children. These books integrate Science, Reading and Writing in a fun and motivational way. Mixing fiction and nonfiction is genius. Can be used Kindergarten through at least 4th grade classes or ages. Follow up projects are a natural.

Great for explaining climate change to a young child. My son is 5 and loves all of the Magic School Bus books and this one is no different! I was hesitant to buy this bc of some of the negative reviews but my son and I both found this book both informative and entertaining.

Students asked questions as a follow up which created more discussion!

we love Magic School Bus, Ms. Frizzle and the class. We use MSB books, science kits, videos and lapbooks for our science curriculum and we are all learning SO much! Nothing like a little adventure to help us learn!

Students & I enjoy the Magic School Bus series. I purchased these for my listening center because I needed extra copies for my students. They love it.
