Good Product , Good Service
As an ntl cable customer with a laptop & a PC both with wireless cards this product is a life saver. The product was easy to set up requiring no details from Ntl... If you have ever used peer to peer wireless cards (as sold cheaply in todays market) and been disapointed then this product will solve your problems the wireless access point is a god send no droped conections and no having to leave the main pc switched on . As a new customer to amazon I was impressed that they delivered free of charge within 3 day of my order being placed on a saturday and were 33 % cheaper then other online companys in the internet "jungle". A 1st class product and 1st class service from amazon...

Good in the end but a disappointing start.
I was looking for an upgrade to my Linksys WRT54G wireless router, which I was very happy with. I wanted wireless N, a reasonable range and reliable connection. After some agonizing I settled for this one out of brand loyalty and of course price. First impressions were good: it was glossy black with blue lights (my young son thought it was super cool) and all of the wiring was neat. The install was simple, we were up and running with the main network and the guest network in 30 minutes. Overall I was very impressed. Then came the acid test, living with it, that wasn't so good. We have quite a broad set of clients in our house; laptops, iPods, various phones, games consoles, internet radios and WiFi TV's. All of these worked fine with the old router for months with no reboots or connection issues. The upgrade was intended to stop drop outs when really busy; internet access, streaming video and music altogether. Unfortunately that didn't happen, we regularly got drop outs on all clients, usually when it was least convenient. Once this happened the whole thing locked up and I had to reboot it. My user community of wife and sons were not impressed. I did consider sending it back to Amazon and getting a refund but I thought I would test my brand loyalty (not least because I felt a little foolish) by giving Cisco/Linksys a chance to help. I contacted the online support in a chat session and they were very helpful, quickly advising on how to reconfigure the router to reduce drop outs. I then promptly lost my connection to them because of a drop out, but the restart worked and we have had no problems since (over a month). Initial problems aside my main complaint with the product is the range isn't all I hoped for. However my main bugbear is that my buying experience wasn't great, I can't help thinking a little more thought on how the product would be used and the software could have been better configured. Anyway lesson learned - brand loyalty is all very well but read the reviews too! :)

Absolutely Hassle Free, Reliable Piece of Kit. Buy it !
I bought this wireless cable router to allow me to share my Blueyonder broadband connection with my business laptop (running windows XP & featuring adaptec £18 pcmcia 802.11b card) and my XBox using cabled XBox live. I got my broadband, xbox live subscription + router all in the space of one week and have not had any experience in setting any of these up before. Therefore, I wasn't expecting everything to run smoothly. However - I could not be more surprised. I ran the auto-installation disk supplied with the router, which obtained my cable modem setting and the whole thing just...worked. When does that *ever* happen? The router also provides four wired network ports to allow you to share your internet connection between devices, so I plugged my XBox into one of those and everything, once again, worked perfectly without any problems. So this router scores 5 stars plus on its ease of installation. That alone should convince anyone with any worries about installation. The other thing that impressed me was the range of the unit. I live in a modern 3 bedroom semi and can get full 11Mb rate wherever I am in the house. I haven't tried it in my garden yet, but I imagine it'll work fine there too. Remember that I'm running a cheapo pcmcia wireless card and this seems even more impressive, as there is no external aerial attached to it. Oh - and I've stuck it in the corner, on the floor of the living room behind a tv, video, telewest box, xbox + playstation. There must be more interference there than anywhere else in the house. Therefore, 5+ stars again, as it does absolutely everything that I need it to do. Linksys really have a well sorted product here, which proper documentation + comprehensive software. I would not hesitate in recommending this to anyone with a similar setup to myself. And it only costs £50.70p - how can it be so cheap! I'm just sad that I didn't save up another mere £15 to get the 54g version of this unit. In the next few months I imagine that that will be the product I upgrade too. Hope this review proves useful to someone as all the previous positive reviews did for me.

I was a bit skeptical about linksys when I bought this router because of the problems with my previous router which was also from linksys. ( that one slowed down my connection from 20Mbps to less than 8 mbps even with the wired connection ) I wanted a basic router with WiFi for my home network. And this one just suits my needs. My personal laptop is still running on an old Wireless G connection, but needed a wireless N connection so that I can connect my official one on the faster network for VPN. The first thing I did was to verify that the router is not slowing down my network. I went to [...] and verified that the speed remain same with and without the router. Even with wireless I could get ~20Mbps download speed, which is quite good. Netflix and youtube was playing pretty good even in HD mode without any stutter at all. Setup was pretty straight forward since I am familiar with configuring routers like this. Since the wireless network was secured by default, and I didnt know the network password for that, I had to use a wired connection for the initial setup. Other than that everything was smooth and I was done with the setup in a few minutes. Pros: +Easy setup +Fast connection +Good signal strength to reach all corners of the house +Decent looks with a modern touch in design +Not so expensive as the other routers which claims to be "high end". You don't really need them unless you are a heavy network user. +Internal Antenna. Looks better. Cons: - No Gigabit ethernet - There should be some configurable power features which can turn off the network at night when no one is using it. Considering this is running 24x7, this can reduce the power consumption and life of the unit. I dont think this is a big deal. Should be doable with a firmware update. - No DD-wrt support. Not a big deal for most users - Don't see an option to enable Higher priority for an ethernet port. This would be a plus since you can connect your blue ray player of any other multimedia device to a fast port and make sure the movies from netflix and youtube are not stuttering.

PLEASE READ ALL OF THE UPDATES BELOW ON THIS INSTALLATION. ********************************************************** The product works beautifully and has solved all of the range issues in my 2500 sf home. The setup on the other hand was a monster. It just wouldn't work. I called Linksys Cisco home support and was stepped through a manual process by a girl named Chloe. She was great, patient and fully understood all of the issues. Like many other people who have reviewed this product, I received one with the faulty firmware. Once that was resolved, the setup was beautiful. For the record, I am not a novice in computer networking. I have been involved in LAN development since the early 1970s and sat on the IEEE 802 committee for the CSMA/CD standards as well as the TIA Intra building wiring standards. That said, no amount of knowledge of software and hardware components will help you if you don't have the tools to debug the software. Fortunately, the vendor knows about the problem and the tech support person had handled this issue many times before. So, go ahead and buy it, but understand you may have to call the vendor to get it resolved. 1-800-546-5797 Cisco/Linksys Home Support. ****UPDATE 1 - 11/26/2013**** The RE2000 died. Will not power up or boot up after less than a week. Called Linksys. Went through a convoluted series of verification tests. RE2000 is non-functional. Sending replacement. Have downgraded to ONE STAR - Would make it ZERO if I could. ****UPDATE 2 - 11/26/2013**** I purchased an additional on year warranty from Linksys Technical Support because the unit had a faulty firmware chip. Linksys assisted me in downloading an update to the device from their web site. The device then worked properly for about two days. I called Linksys again and they proceeded to verify that the device was completely non-functional and they advised me of their return policy. They wanted me to pay for the return shipping for their defective device. I absolutely refused! I told them I would return the product through Amazon. They then said that that was acceptable because I purchased it from Amazon and they would only provide free shipping if I had purchased it from them directly. This a ridiculous policy and I spoke to a supervisor and made sure she understood how I felt about this. It will be a cold day in hell before I buy another Linksys product. If the replacement is non-functional, I will return it to Amazon for a refund. I will not deal with Linksys again under any circumstances. I will purchase another range extender if necessary from another supplier. IT WILL NOT BE BELKIN SINCE THEY NOW OWN LINKSYS!!!! Thank you for listening to me vent. *****UPDATE 3 - 11/29/2013***** Received replacement product today. Installed with absolutely no difficulty from CD ... No need to do manual network connection. Replacement unit must have the new firmware. On a scale of 1 -> 5, this setup was a 5, a breeze. Initial assessment is that everything is working as it should. Amazon Customer Support was exemplary in terms of replacing failed unit at no cost to me. I am changing my rating on this BACK to a Five Star, but I will be as quick to change it back to 1* if this device fails. Hopefully Linksys has their act together now. Good luck and Happy Thanksgiving.

Had a few problems with setup since the instl. disc was in Arabic. To make it worse, the tech support came from someone with a heavy Mid Eastern accent. Finally just hung up and called my 14 year old grandson for help. Up and running in no time. this issue notwithstanding, still a 5 star rating because it works really well. We have 18 devices connected and have had 3 guest connections at the same time without a glitch.
