Pro Results in a Can: The Perfect Anodized Look!
If you've ever wanted that high-end, anodized aluminum look without paying for professional dipping, the Dupli-Color Metalcast Anodized Coating in Purple is exactly what you need. It turns ordinary chrome or shiny metal surfaces into brilliant, transparent colored masterpieces. For the best results, remember that this is a "metal cast" system. If you aren't spraying over chrome or bare polished metal, grab the Metalcast Adhesion Promoter first to act as a silver base—it makes the purple pop like crazy. It’s an easy, affordable way to make your car or DIY project look like it just came out of a custom shop.

Great product but not your typical spray paint.
Great product. Performs as advertised but the user must understand, this is NOT a typical, opaque enamel spray paint. Because it is a transparent paint, multiple coats must be applied VERY thinly with adequate flash time between coats. Initial coats must be extremely thin. If you can see full color after 1 or 2 coats, it WILL run. Color must be built slowly. It took me 5 thin coats flashing with a heat gun between coats to achieve the color depth I was looking for, and it did deliver the results I wanted. My shop was a bit chilly (+- 62Deg F) so I pre-warmed the surface with the heat gun. Surface must be cleaned well for proper adhesion. I was applying it to a raw aluminum surface that I had engine turned the surface and cleaned with Acetone just prior to painting. Looking forward to using it on other projects.

Very nice paint! I love the color! It withstands elements and heat well also!
This stuff is amazing. I use it on alot of my automotive metals. I've even tried it out on 3d prints in the past with plastic adhesion promoter. I see some reviews where people say it runs too easy....yes it is thin because it has to be to give that shine from the metal or base coat. You have to be patient and dust it. If you miss a spot while dusting then just wait the ten minutes and dust it again. Do not spray a heavy coat! If your painting metal and it starts to dull out then once done painting, bake in the oven around 80-100 degrees for at least 30 minutes. The color will come back. It dulls easily with humidity or too much uncured heavy paint under the next coat. For instance, my red was turning a dull purplish. I finished painting and baked in the oven and the color came back better than ever afterwards. I highly recommend baking. It enhances the color and shine while making it more permanent. I also shoot gloss high heat ceramic coating on mine and then a color coat over the ceramic. It seems to withstand heat alot better. This stuff really is a good paint if done correctly. Just have patience with it is the key and bake it once done....do not bake plastic though lol. Idk you may be able to but I haven't tried that out. Ive posted some of my new pieces I've done. In the past I've painted exhaust pieces and still today, six months later, the color is still holding up well on a motorcycle exhaust.

Dupli-Color makes a fantastic cobalt blue!!! Yet, the can did get a little cranky with me. ('Tis the nature of spray paint.)
I had never used Dupli-Color but wanted a cobalt blue metallic paint to use on a gutted piano I am making into a flower and ivy center piece in my garden. The old piano is now painted in various metallic colors and ready for the garden. Too bad it is now a bit late in the season to see it in its full glory. Anyway, it will look great next year. Ha! :*) Using metallic colors has made for a modern twist on an old ornate piano. (If you have an old piano that you don't know what to do with but don't really want to get rid of there are some good ideas on, "Google images," that might just inspire the inner artist in you.) This piano belonged to my grandmother, so for sentimental value I just bring myself to part with it. Granny's legacy is now a beautiful center piece in my outdoor garden, and it reminds me of her and makes me smile every time I look at it. Back to the paint: This is an AWESOME cobalt blue color! Really groovy! (If you remember that word.) I tried Rustoleum's Metallic Blue first because it is - well, easily accessible. Rustoleum makes a "nice" metallic blue, but it is nothing like the Dupli-Color. Dupli-Color makes a much deeper, richer tone. (Of course, it costs twice as much, so it should be better.) Still, I didn't have a very large area to cover. Tip: I put a Rustoleum clear gloss coat over the Dupli-Color to protect it from the elements, which actually made it even more appealing. Con: The only thing I didn't like about this paint was that as the can began to empty it sometimes came out in spurts causing that dreaded dripping finish. (That could have just been my fault . . . But, it pisses me off.) You really have to keep this can moving - but very, very slowly - to get an even color. As a matter of fact to get the rich pigment I wanted I had to apply a second coat. That was the reason for the four star rating. Cheers, and happy painting! I'm going to try a couple more of their vibrant deep metallic's - probably the purple and green metallic - on other pieces just to get a real since of the product. But, for regular metallic silver, gold, bronze, etc. I'm sticking with Rustoleum. All in all I would recommend this product - just for the fantastic color.

Great paint but use a 2k clear
It's a great paint. Looks very good over a metallic base. If you really want that candy pop, use a gold paint base. Prep it right, follow the instructions on applying it, and finish it off with a 2k clear(has a hardener in it) and you'll get professional results with good durability. My mini bike is on its 3rd year of this color. I just added a stretch and needed to blend it in.

Mad!!!!!! Junk!!!!!
Where is the quality? I don't mean about the color, because the color is perfect. But why do I have to suffer through the fact that it will not stop spraying after i'm done? I had to yank the head off of the spray can to make it stop and even then, it kept spitting red paint everywhere. Amazing, perfect coverage, very beautiful bud.I don't need to get covered in paint when i'm using a spray can. I ask, where is the quality. I am literally typing this right now. As the can empties itself upside down without a nozzle on it, because it wouldn't stop spraying, but it also wouldn't stop spitting its paint out of it. I love the color. It coded perfectly. But I did not need to have my fingers covered along with everything else near me when I was trying to make it stop spraying. This is worse than 3m products. That literally stick to nothing but human skin. And ten years ago I would have spent half as much. I'm really really mad. But darn, the projects I was working on, look amazing.. I bought a second can that arrived yesterday. This can will not spray anything at all! If I could give zero stars, I would give zero stars. Thank you so much for and a half cans of paint that I cannot use.

Turned out spectacular
I had an idea in my head to make my own “candy blue” color using a silver base coat and a top coat for duplicolor metal paint. Pleased to say it turned out incredible. The base coat was rustoleum 2 n 1 primer and base coat metallic silver/aluminum. Top coat was roughly four light coats of the metalcast anodized blue. The results were incredible if I say so myself. But it’s very important you follow directions and stick with very light coats. I got too greedy on an earlier attempt and had to strip it all off and start over. The color is so deep and metallic in person, you’d swear it was painted over a chromed VC. Pictures ruin the depth a bit, but overall..super pleased. Give it a try!

I wonder of the 20th century
This brand of paint is unquestionably. One of the best. The coat is fantastic put it over a mirror silver and you won’t believe your eyes to finish is extremely hard. Doesn’t fade in the sun doesn’t get any discolouration even on the toughest projects like outdoor metal ornaments just about every other paint I’ve ever used and big brand ones. Can’t hold up these two and you don’t need to clearcoat go for it as is.

The color is great
I did not expect that it would give me exactly the color I was looking for.. I used it to spray the RB26 engine hood.. but I hope that the dye will not fly away due to the heat. I have not confirmed yet, but in general the color was wonderful.
