For the money this is not a bad helmet
I struggle with 3 starts but after wearing and ultimately buying a more expensive helmet of the same brand, I have to stick with it.I tried on a few helmets from another very popular brand, none of them would fit, so I was getting a bit concerned over timing. I bought this helmet as a last ditch effort of buying a helmet online. It fits, I like the look of it but man it's just not very comfortable. The inside of the helmet is quite rigid. This was my first ski helmet so I had no frame of reference. I was convinced I'd have a headache after an hour but went to the ski area anyway.Upon arriving I went to the ski shop and tried on the two helmets they had in my size. Unbelievably different in terms of comfort. It's quite a bit more money but if you plan to ski regularly I'd highly recommend you look at the helmets in the $200-$250 range. The difference is out of this world. Same brand, entirely different experience.

Sharp
It’s a little heavy but fits and protects me well. Also the color is bright so easy to spot for my friend and family while in a crowded area.

Perfect fit and versatile
Well made, adjustable- really helps to get good fit. Works well also for winter cycling.

I have a round head and it fits me fine.
My ears got cold wearing this helmet the first time out. I was able keep them warm the next time with a beanie.

Fits Great/ Choose Goggles Carefully
Love the product and the price of this unit. In my opinion the only downside is how the helmet correlate’s with the goggles. The little visor comes down a little low, so ensure your goggles aren’t oversized on the top. It’s just a small gripe, but while wearing all my gear, the front of the helmet has to sit about half an inch higher on my face in order to fit everything together. Now I should note that the goggles aren’t GYRO, so that could be the issue as well. On a positive note I love the helmet and I’d still recommend it.

Sweet helmet that makes people take me very seriously when winter biking
I decided I would get a "snow helmet" instead of a conventional bike helmet for winter biking due to the sheer drop in temperatures here in Minnesota. It's only November, but already I know I made the right choice with this thing. It's an absolutely perfect fit for me in large, and though I wanted the normal straight up black, the "black beachcomber" is an excellent second choice since it's often cheaper (and who really even notices the slight texture on the back when I fly past them in the winter darkness anyways? haha). The earmuffs are super nice and I've found this unit to be very compatible with balaclavas / face masks of all sorts, from the cheaper Chinese-made ones all the way up to my nice, warm schwampa warmskin (which seems to be just a touch too warm each and every time I've used it, though again, I haven't hit the coldest months yet).I was surprised at the level of detail on this unit. Once you properly customize the fitment to your head, you'll enjoy putting it on. My goggles might still fog up, but that's because they aren't Gyro (they're Smith OTG Knowledge, a bit too expensive imo), and the fitment near the top where the fan vent is doesn't completely work, as this helmet cuts the normal flow of air a bit short.I don't really care though. I feel like a SWAT/counter-terrorist in this thing and that's pretty awesome. When people pull me over to "show me who's boss" because I'm "in the vehicle lane" in sub-zero temps (usually because of huge snow plow drifts or cars on the side of the road or for visibility reasons or because you get flat tires by riding in the shoulder or 100x other reasons) I will just stare silently at them, breathing hard, and I think that should be good enough to scare them away...hahaha. Happy trails everyone and remember to share the road - just pass us quickly if we go too slow for you!

Giro Surface S / Skullcandy Audio Kit combination
Giro Surface-S Snow Helmet (Matte Black, Medium) I like the Giro Surface S helmet very much. It looks good and fits well. I thank everyone who reviewed this helmet and helped me make my choice. I also purchased the Smith Optics Skullcandy Direct Connect Audio Kit to install in this helmet, which I did.I put the helmet on and listened to music (in the comfort of my home) for about 15 minutes. At this time I noticed that my ears were beginning to hurt from the "lumps" (speakers) in the ear pockets. This was not good. But, a few days later I came across this response to a question about installing the Giro TuneUps Audio Kit in late model Giro Helmets: ".........remove a small circle of foam from the pocket, which is pre-cut and removes easily ......." by Thom, Product Specialist. I removed the Skullcandy Speakers from the ear pockets and found that I could remove a 1.5 inch diameter piece of foam from each ear pocket. This provides a hole into which the speakers can be placed, and eliminated the "lumps" against my ears. The Giro Surface S Helmet comes with an Owner's Manual, but does not talk about installing an audio kit. The Smith Optics Skullcandy Direct Connect Audio Kit comes with no written installation instructions whatsoever. Nonetheless, I am now very pleased with this combo. I hope that I have helped anyone who is considering this combination of products. Happy Skiing! :)

It protects your head. Matte gray finish looks great.
I am just learning to snowboard and wanted a helmet that wasn’t overly expensive but served it’s intended purpose. This one definitely met those expectations on only my second time out on the slopes. After hitting some ice I lost control of my board, fell backwards, and hit the back of my head on the ground. The helmet absorbed the impact incredibly well despite the force. Otherwise, I likely would have been done boarding for the day. The helmet itself isn’t the trendiest looking compared to the more expensive ones on the market and it obviously lacks many of the features you’d find at those price points, but if your only concern is protecting your head, you won’t be disappointed with the Giro Surface-S.
